A while back I said you guys should have turned that rear engine mower into a mini-wrecker for towing home broken karts. Would have been good for recovering the race mower.
First off, Keep going on it! Any possibility of throwing a straight axle in there and reinventing the belt system to work? Also it might be a good idea to throw a slidplate on the front that curves up just a bit then covers up all the dangly bits under the front. Just a suggestion of course. Seriously though, keep going on this thing, it's cool as hell! A little more tread burning off and it should drift perfectly in the dirt!
instead of choosing between a new project and the mower, do both. strip the mower down completely get some bar stock make a new frame and build a new machine
L.T DEX 57 I would like to see it myself because my bet is the welds broke and locked up the gears because when he was going in reverse and slammed it into first you could see the wheels twist at different times
More than likely it is close to where it was welded since the steel used on the dif is not the greatest to weld to. If you want a locked diff in one of these look up DOC locker 2.0 and go the rout, it will be much smarter way to do thing I believe. Also to fix the steering build s stronger one and not use the crap it came with, that is the best (only) way to have safer steering..... but since I have said this in every video it is like kicking a dead horse.
i had the same transmission with mine... I just got a peerless Tecumseh big heavy duty in it now.. just welded the diff in it and made an adapter that allows it to put a smaller axle tire on it + it makes wider.. Ive done so much to it and it still works great!
Isaac it'll be fine i dont know the manufacturer but there's a right angle gear box thats pully to chain with that you could put a gokart straight axle in the mower . if you google outlaw mower parts you will find it and anything els you will need people run mowers like that up to 70 mph an faster they also have front axle kits for mowers thats like gokart steering
When's the go kart build off? I subscribed when y'all found the barnyard karts... Since then y'all have done... Turbo drift trike, rat rod wagon, a rebar roll cage in a pickup, Minibike mods, bought a 2nd Minibike, amphibious go kart, 22hp go kart, added a torque converter to a mini bike, added a torque converter to a go kart, bought "pugsly", worked on "pugsly", bought a Murray, worked on Murray, bought a classic Super bee, fixed"ish" the burnt up super bee, showed off a number of cars including a lifted suburban, Hurst, impala, and other various projects, tests, cars, ikes adventures, races, and rode alongside... I hope to god this don't get over looked
Scoots McGoots dude put some beef tires in the front and put in a good old phantom motor with a torch converter and some treds in the back like you know a snowmobile but the front has tires
I think it would be beyond epic to take one of the other mowers, get it running right, weld the diff and put a small lifter harness on it, or a bed with a winch. rescue mower! do it! please? ;)
I've been inside of a few transaxles before. I used to work on mowers. However! After seeing the mishaps I just saw makes me want to build something I don't guess y'all have built yet! When I do build it I'll try and shoot a picture!
As much as i like to see more modifications on the Mower it would be cool to see a new/fresh project. How ever you decide "It´l be Fine" greetings from Germany
Not the first to suggest this but my vote is in: Harvest the mower for parts and build something awesome! And I mean use as much of it as you can. Creativity is key here, which Ike normally isn't lacking. Not to belittle John... His drifts were better. Although, the footage of Ike grabbing the seat and palm steering that thing in slow-mo is legendary lol
Keep going with the mower! Most likely what broke is the shift fork (not sure of the proper term for that part though) that slides on the shaft and inside of some gears. Each side of the fork has a triangular protrusion that snaps into groves on gears and locks one of them at a time to the shaft. All is fine at slow speeds, but at high speeds one or both sides can break off and get stuck between two gears therefore locking up the transmission.
Grease fitting on back of transmission case is for filling transmission case with grease. High temp bearing grease or marine grade bearing grease are optimal. I also want to point out, fill with grease, operate for a while, then refill when full. Usually on ends of axle seal a slight bit of grease will spit out or around the pulley shaft when full. Just don't pump it full too fast as this will cause seals to be blown out. The reason the transmission died was because oil did not offer enough lube grease would have helped it last longer so you know and would allow the large material as it comes apart internally to be held suspeneded in the grease and out of the bushings / gears.
I have done the same thing on mine, which looks like your! This is really cool, I've been drifting it during the winter on snow and it was going really well!!!
Definitely keep going with the mower. I almost never comment on RUclips but I had to for this, too good not to keep it going. Now I want to build one for myself
That's only the second documented time Issac has busted a wheel in his RUclips career.... and leave it to Jon to put the mower build out of its misery. And that is why you cant have nice things!! Lol. I was laughing so hard this episode. Cant wait for the next project!
I'd like to see that rear engine rider become a sleeper-type thing. Maybe even stick an opposed twin Kohler Magnum vertical or something similar (opposed twins give tons of power and sound awesome). Make it do 25 MPH and do wheelies, and it would be pretty cool. Possibly put in Rat Rod Mower. Also, a small tidbit of info, in a project of my using a twin, I was able to use black iron pipes for a side pipe exhaust and it sounds great. Hope that is useful to someone.
Hey guys I would say fix that up maybe put some negative camber on the back wheels and put maybe thinner or less grippy tires on the back so you have less grip and it's easier to get sideways and hold drifts. If you do that I say that's it for that project. Then I would love to see some sort of awd/4x4 go kart build, preferably lifted and a mud bog type thing. That'd be one of a kind! Thanks.
@carsandcameras, as for the sketchy steering, need to try to get the camber out, the camber you have is more for cornering. For straight launch, you need almost no camber, 7degrees caster, and very little toe in.
Hey, If you do get back to the project, I'd really like to see the steering worked out. I'm building something but I'm not sure what to do about the terrible steering of a lawnmower. Cool project! Thanks for sharing.
The mower is right up there with Black Widow! There has to a transmission somewhere on a junked mower. Heck, I think I have one. But I am about to do the same build! Without the lowering.
A while back I said you guys should have turned that rear engine mower into a mini-wrecker for towing home broken karts. Would have been good for recovering the race mower.
You guys remind me of the RoadKill of Small engines
ownologer but with less predictable results.
Yep same
It was fun while it lasted :'(
We beat the crap out of this thing!
CarsandCameras would've been a surprise if I didn't read this comment.
CarsandCameras dude when are you guys going to put a header on the lawn mower for testing purposes. lol
CarsandCameras you should make a custom muffler for it
CarsandCameras move on to an other project!
go to another project! this one is good but not like a 670!!go to that
Obviously keep going with this build this could do great things and I would love to see this more completely decked out and finished
try to keep the mower build going please i love the content its putting out!
Eastern Kentucky Slideways im outta lex what 👆
Ashland here!
Eastern Kentucky Slideways Alberto big BOOST!
First off, Keep going on it! Any possibility of throwing a straight axle in there and reinventing the belt system to work?

Ls swap the mower
Jk
Marc D no rotary swap it yo
SondersOP people have put single rotor engines in riding lawn mowers before
LS swap everything
naaaa.... put a dirt bike motor in it. on the cheap.
Keep it going. I'm about to start a mower build and from watching you guys I think I can actually do it 👌🏼
instead of choosing between a new project and the mower, do both. strip the mower down completely get some bar stock make a new frame and build a new machine
SlowMo - Music - Ike's attitude ---> priceless!!!
I'd like to see the damage of the transmission
Me too!!!
wouldnt be much because the case it self is a bushing so the shafts might have just welded it self to the case
L.T DEX 57 I would like to see it myself because my bet is the welds broke and locked up the gears because when he was going in reverse and slammed it into first you could see the wheels twist at different times
the steel shaft wont weld to the aluminium case...
L.T DEX 57 I saw the same thing.. the wheels were not locked after the the Rockford.
That drift music segment was SO COOL!!
plz open the transmission. i'd like to see what actually broke in there.
Yes I'm curious too.
slaapkonijn58 I agree, show us!
My guess is that the gear for 2nd or 3rd gear split in half.
More than likely it is close to where it was welded since the steel used on the dif is not the greatest to weld to. I too want to see the carnage.
best video yet the drift scene is what cars and cameras is all about!!!!! keep it up
you should do a fourwheeler build
linxy scooters YES
linxy scooters like a race four wheeler like a 450
i had the same transmission with mine... I just got a peerless Tecumseh big heavy duty in it now.. just welded the diff in it and made an adapter that allows it to put a smaller axle tire on it + it makes wider.. Ive done so much to it and it still works great!
Correct me if I'm wrong. But If that engine is stock. Then that's the fastest you've gone with a stock motor 41 mph.
true
Isaac it'll be fine
i dont know the manufacturer but there's a right angle gear box thats pully to chain with that you could put a gokart straight axle in the mower . if you google outlaw mower parts you will find it and anything els you will need people run mowers like that up to 70 mph an faster they also have front axle kits for mowers thats like gokart steering
Isaac it'll be fine
if the link didnt work look up george herrin on you tube
Ry low it has different pulleys so the top speed is very much improved
When's the go kart build off? I subscribed when y'all found the barnyard karts... Since then y'all have done... Turbo drift trike, rat rod wagon, a rebar roll cage in a pickup, Minibike mods, bought a 2nd Minibike, amphibious go kart, 22hp go kart, added a torque converter to a mini bike, added a torque converter to a go kart, bought "pugsly", worked on "pugsly", bought a Murray, worked on Murray, bought a classic Super bee, fixed"ish" the burnt up super bee, showed off a number of cars including a lifted suburban, Hurst, impala, and other various projects, tests, cars, ikes adventures, races, and rode alongside... lol. ive been getting on the boys about this
I'd like to see you guys keep going with the race mower. Maybe throw a small engine turbo on it and drag it against other race mowers.
Glenn Chesley this.
loveing the sound of those straight cut gears 👌
golf cart build.............
YES!!!
Scoots McGoots yess
Scoots McGoots I have to agree on that idea
Scoots McGoots Golf Cart With A 670cc Turbo... 👌🏻
Scoots McGoots dude put some beef tires in the front and put in a good old phantom motor with a torch converter and some treds in the back like you know a snowmobile but the front has tires
love the low angle tire shots of the drifts!!
Put a bucket seat and a harness on it! It's a racing mower! It needs to be approved!
I would love to see more of this mower!!!
That mower is a beast! It sure took a beating. :)
Make a drag mobility scooter
Jake Kubacki colong furze has done that
He didn’t call it a drag scooter tho
I think it would be beyond epic to take one of the other mowers, get it running right, weld the diff and put a small lifter harness on it, or a bed with a winch. rescue mower! do it! please? ;)
Gotta love the sound of straight cut gears
I think I smell a subaru engine for the Beetle.
keep it going and hook the old deck handle up to the rear brake like an E-Brake. love what you guys do! keep it up!!
Keep going put a kart axle with predator on that :)
Eunos Crew no
I've been inside of a few transaxles before. I used to work on mowers. However! After seeing the mishaps I just saw makes me want to build something I don't guess y'all have built yet! When I do build it I'll try and shoot a picture!
move on for now... start the 670 drag bike build
keep going I love the mower build series and there is always more ways to again speed
You want the weld to be super hot so it's more metal than filling
Mower with the turbo guys. Your builds are so nice to see keep going!
put pvc on the wheels to drift on your drive way it is so fun
As much as i like to see more modifications on the Mower it would be cool to see a new/fresh project. How ever you decide "It´l be Fine" greetings from Germany
Hello Germany !
Add a turbo or supercharger to the mower like the drift trike.
Riley Heaton pUt A v8 In IT

Creativity is key here, which Ike normally isn't lacking. Not to belittle John... His drifts were better. Although, the footage of Ike grabbing the seat and palm steering that thing in slow-mo is legendary lol
i would fix the mower and then do a golf cart build
keep the mower going, it was the reason i found your channel
Next project . Obviously ike wants to take everything off-road . Need something powerful for the hill climb
Keep going with the mower! Most likely what broke is the shift fork (not sure of the proper term for that part though) that slides on the shaft and inside of some gears. you guys should fix and then go to a next project
Loved the Cannon in D sound track for the drifts
You've spent much more time reparing than driving this thing. I say repare it one last time and let it rest peacefully in good condition.
Grease fitting on back of transmission case is for filling transmission case with grease. High temp bearing grease or marine grade bearing grease are optimal. stop find something else to build
this thing was soo fun to watch, especially the drag part! just keep going to make it faster enough to race the bike on pavement!
12:07 he’s so majestic😂
HAW HAW
I KNEW THAT TRANSAXLE WOULD GO EVENTUALLY THE WAY YALL TREAT IT!!
New build! That mower is just toast now...
insane go cart build
Keep the mower and love the slow motion and music
Love your videos and your choice of music! First Eggmont and now Cannon, Awesome!
Keep the mower going, Shake and Bake!!!
keep going! that mower looks like a blast! time for heavy duty transaxle and more craziness.
I loved the J-turn!
Rebuild!!!! I want to see it keep beating the mini bike! Bad break, but great video!
definitely need a hand brake thing is sweet, love the build
Plant flowers around the mower, she had a good run.
keep going the mower has lots of potential
That drifting scene haha, great edit!
Yes, keep working on the mower!
Keep going with the build! "love the build"
Keep going!! That thing is too cool and too much fun to give up on. You can find another trans-axle cheap.Plus the gear whine is awesome.
Should have used disk brake on jackshaft and drum as emergency brake. Gotta say you guys know how to have fun. Keep it up
y'all should build a tow kart as many times as y'all breakdown lol. good job guys keep it going. love the builds
I'd love to see this make a come back
The mower must LIVE!
you boys make my day when you upload
Keep going with the mower build
Keep the mower build going i love it!!! Inspired me to make my Baja Mini Bike go faster
keep the mower build going!
Yes keep going and build it stronger.
The orchestral part at 12:55 is really cool
keep going with the mower. I'm building one myself and I'm trying to learn what not to do. y'all put in the time and effort so I don't have to 😁
I think you should continue the mower it's cool and like Ike said that's the fastest any stock motor for a mower has ever gone
I have done the same thing on mine, which looks like your! This is really cool, I've been drifting it during the winter on snow and it was going really well!!!
looks like allot of out there. keep it coming
Definitely keep going with the mower. I almost never comment on RUclips but I had to for this, too good not to keep it going. Now I want to build one for myself
Great camera work on this one John.
That's only the second documented time Issac has busted a wheel in his RUclips career.... and leave it to Jon to put the mower build out of its misery. And that is why you cant have nice things!! Lol. I was laughing so hard this episode. Cant wait for the next project!
keep going with the mower build!! Fix any of its flaws and make it sweet
Keep adding to it, more power = more sideways action 😊
Thumbs up for the classical slo mo
I'd like to see that rear engine rider become a sleeper-type thing. Maybe even stick an opposed twin Kohler Magnum vertical or something similar (opposed twins give tons of power and sound awesome). great montage! It's has been a very interesting build. wouldn't mind seeing what it turns into. keep up the great work.

Do you have a video on how the torque converter and gas pedal work together
Keep going the mower is magnificent. When I blow up a transaxle I just swap, I recommend junk yards.
Hey, If you do get back to the project, I'd really like to see the steering worked out. I'm building something but I'm not sure what to do about the terrible steering of a lawnmower. Cool project! Thanks for sharing.
You got to MoveOn because I love this mower
Definitely keep going!!!
Heck yeah keep going on the mower
The mower is right up there with Black Widow! There has to a transmission somewhere on a junked mower. Heck, I think I have one. But I am about to do the same build! Without the lowering.
the drift music is excellent
simply beautiful
