*Moto G Google Play edition now in the Play Store: stock Android hits $179*: goo.gl/oQMUWe Nexus devices aren’t exactly expensive, but with the new Moto G Google Play edition getting on the stock Android bandwagon becomes cheaper than ever. Here's our review of the regular version. By *****
Excellent review and thanks for backing me up on the 2 day usage. I think some of my followers were a little sceptical ;) This really is an amazing device. I'm using it as my daily driver. The area where I feel it falls short against the big boys is the camera but considering I only paid £89 I quickly get over it. Dare I say this phone is revolutionary. Re identifying what consumers need and making them discover what they WANT.
The last few statements sums up both the moto x and the moto g. When I got my moto x I was surprised how many people bashed it for not having a snapdragon 600/800 this phone simply doesn't need it. Coming from a galaxy s4 it ran circles around it. Hope Motorola keeps this up
Im watching this on same phone with 3g yet satisfied with 4mbps and CPU running android 7.1.2 and run basics soooooo smooth. Yeah its true it lasted really a lot
How does he have the AT&T network name in the top left. I'm on AT&T and don't see it, only in the bottom of the pull-down. Is there a toggle somewhere?
I thought Moto was doomed after their last few offerings - but this - just wow, great phone at a great price - Moto deserve to sell millions of these & I hope they do.
Active Display...or as you call it "notification peek" doesn't require a AMOLED screen. The DROID Mini has them and it does NOT have a AMOLED display. It also doesn't kill battery life. My wife had one for awhile(before we got her the larger Ultra) and battery life seems equal to the Ultra.
Neighbour from the north here! I received the 8GB model of the Moto G up here in Canada from Koodo... it's only $150 for the 8GB (free on Tab S) but you 'Murricans can get the 16GB unlocked model directly from Motorola. Booo not fair! Anyway, this review is totally accurate. There's nothing better in its price range. It makes sacrifices in all the right areas... Weak camera and non-expandable 8GB (again I would love to get my hands on a 16) aside, this thing's a beauty. If you really need internet on your phone faster than your home internet, "ooh we transferred photos by tapping phones DATS SO KEWL", and need to have a 64GB microSD card or bigger internal storage capacity for all of your music and movies, then go somewhere else. It does everything you will likely need it to do. It feels just right in the hand, the 720p screen is nice enough, the build quality is impressive, the battery life is great (especially on standby), yes the speakers are quite loud, but the best thing is how well it performs. Sure, there's a little bit of delay opening some apps and such but I can't believe how much phone there is here for the price it sits at. This thing has changed the Android low-end market forever. For roughly the same price, the Ace II X and Xperia M only dream about being a Moto G.
This looks like the perfect phone for me. I am NOT a superuser, just an occasional phone user who has a flip phone and a cheap prepaid plan. The price and the features finally make the jump to a modern smartphone seem like an easy step rather than an extravagance.
How does the Moto G compare to last year's LTE enabled RAZR M, which Telstra is selling for A$199 (around US$185) with free next day shipping? Is it worth waiting until January 2014 when RAZR M has LTE (Australian 1800mhz bands only), MicroSD, NFC and 8MP Camera?
In regards to the voice control ala Ok Google like you can do on Moto X, I have seen quite a few videos out there that when you root your phone and add CyanogenMod Kit Kat onto it, it does include that feature where you can see Ok Google and there is no need to press the microphone button at all
Just bought one of these for my son, wow! At this price point nothing gets anywhere near it, its hands down the best mobile device in the world at this ridiculously low price and is a serious game changer.
After a month I actually prefer this to my S4 it feels snappier and more comfortable AND I'm running kit kat. I bought this as my cheap backup phone but now my S4 feels like the backup phone
It's been over a month now and I absolutely love my Moto G. It is everything I need in a smartphone without all the fancy bells & whistles. I also highly recommend a Motorola Grip shell (about $20) that gives it a great solid profile.
Really good review. Finally, someone who understands that it isn't necessary to have a phone with all the bells and whistle's on, but actually performs in the capacity needed! I've added you to my circles, and I look forward to more of your reviews. 👍👌✌
My brother has a htc droid incredible with a cracked screen and I got him this phone for his birthday and since his htc is very old and lags, I thought he was going to be excited but he didn't seem to like it.
Paid $99 for mine on Boost Mobile and $40 for unlimited talk/text/data. It was totally worth it. Granted, they cap my bandwidth at 500 megs but I use it for email, web and messaging not RUclips or Netflix. It's just what I needed and I can see the screen just find in this desert sun. I would definitely recommend it.
so much respect for the whole concept of this review. i liked the galaxy s3 mini review but this review is even better with the nice song in the background
This is probably a phone I'd give to someone who wants a simple, fast experience that just works, without the hefty price tag. Great example of how a budget phone should be, Motorola.
Going to get this of Tesco in UK which has it listed for £99 and £129 for 8gb and 16gb respectively. This phone should have been given a proper launch. Let's hope Motorola can keep up with demand because demand is gonna be high.
The fact that the cheapest of them only have 8gb isnt really a big problem... because you get 50gb of google Drive storage :) And you dont listen to 4gb of music all the time, so some of the music can be stored on the drive while you have the music you love the most on the device... Same story with the apps... you can easily download apps from the store as you need them (even though you have plenty of space for apps) I have the 8gb version, and i do exactly this, and i have no problems with it :) Great phone for a shocking price :)
can i some how connect the MG to a tv or big screen with a usb cable or bluetooth or something ?. I would like to watch some videos on a bigger screen if i can. thanks for now.
Im planning to buy this ohone. I just could'nt decide if I'll get the Global Gsm model or US Gsm. Can anyone explain to me the difference? Can I useit Global gsm here in the US & when I get back to Philippines? Thanks.
Just got this phone. Can't say I miss my S3 tbh. Only problem I have with this is the battery being stuck inside. But as long as the battery is good (which it is. charges quick and takes long to die when not playing games), then whatever.
I was waiting for this review for some time now, unfortunately the single SIM model 16gb is not available in my country, I will probably have to import. Anyway thanks, my last doubts clarified.
Can somebody answer my question please? It is very important as the holidays are coming up and I'm looking to get this for someone as a gift. So they have a basic phone with AT&T, would they be able to pop out their SIM card and put it into this phone? Like would the phone itself function properly and be able to call and txt people?
'it is implied that it should be considered on its own... and it should be...because its Joshua Vergara from android authority' hahahha am i the only one who finds Mr.Vergara to be hilarious for some odd reason
The entire G series are excellent budget phones... Almost 2 years later, there is the MG3, now with IPX7 water resistant rating as well as the Moto Maker that was only available with the flagship X... Of course, MG is no X, and it never was meant to be, but it has redefined what a budget / mid-range should be, and now, quite a few competitors are jumping on the budget bandwagon as a result!
they think about changing a huawei honor II for motorola moto g, which is better?

watching on my s7 edge. this was my first Android phone and I got this a few months after i turned thirteenth and I was proud cause I worked for this considering I made 20 dollars every hard day and I was able to buy other stuff.
***** another fantastic review great job man!! I love your reviews so much I even watch reviews for stuff I dont want! This moto g has been catching my interest for awhile now and you just sold it to me :)
I love the Moto G. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone who has never had a smartphone before because this is all you really need. I also recommend this to other smartphone users who have realized that they don't need all the high end features on their phones. Personally, I don't like having to carry a device that's worth $600+ everyday. I wouldn't be able to handle losing it. I also do not care about a phone being a "status symbol". Anyway, The battery also lasts up to 3 days with moderate use which is great for a smartphone these days. The only real big con for the Moto G is the lack of LTE. I can't complain about the camera because I hardly use it anyway. No phone can match SLRs anyway.
Motorola is now my favorite company. But we all know this is because Google bought their mobile branch, Google is the only company that gives a crap about its consumers.
Roberto Mejia Lacayo I think Moto is doing pretty well with Lenovo. The Moto Z is the first smartphone with some form of modularity that's actually useful and well implemented. If they could just stop doing this Verizon exclusivity nonsense, they would be in the top 3 manufacturers right now.
Hi, Josh! Thank you for this awesome review. I currently have an LGL39C. I am considering buying a Moto G. Are they comparable? Anybody have any input? Thank you so much!
I use NFC for sharing pics/video/files now that many people have it, I use it for my BT headphones to pair and I use it with my camera. You just put it up to the camera and you get whatever photo is on the screen. We don't have Google Wallet in Canada, which sucks, but that VISA paywave thing is showing up everywhere. I'm guessing it will work with that. I heard car decks will also have NFC in the future for easy pairing. I also plan to get another BT wireless speaker and it has NFC pairing so you don't have to set up the BT connection and you can use it with whatever phone you touched to it last. I have also used NFC tags to change settings and connect to guest WIFI in someone's house without knowing the password :) It was really cool.
I would really appreciate it if you guys checked out my review of the moto g and gave me some feedback on my videos. It's my first phone review ever, and I'm eager to get some feedback which will help me improve.

It didn't have the latest version of android!?
Wow that's great :-D more competition
Rodrigo Camacho US models will prompt you to update to kit Kat the first time you turn it on.
Hope this isn't the end of nexus
Moto taking over Nexus would be awesome! Gotta love their battery life! 🙌🙌
2:49 display on moto g looks better than display on nexus 5. like I always say, resolution does not matter...
Excellent review and thanks for backing me up on the 2 day usage. I think some of my followers were a little sceptical ;)

personally the Moto g and the Nexus 5 are the two best android phone in their class for the money
KitKat will makes this phone the destroyer for another cheap android phones

Zach Papadopoulos Zillions!
Android Authority has the best reviews about Android devices on RUclips. Keep it up!

I already have the Moto X, but I am recommending this to friends and family! An awesome, simple phone.
This looks like the perfect phone for me. I am NOT a superuser, just an occasional phone user who has a flip phone and a cheap prepaid plan. The price and the features finally make the jump to a modern smartphone seem like an easy step rather than an extravagance.
Loved the review. Love the price point. Now I want Motorola to give a damn about Australia...
This reviews seals the deal. This is going to be my first Android phone.
329 PPI, all day battery with 6+ hours screen on time, as stock as stock could get, quad core
This is the Jesus phone.
THANKS FOR THE QUICK INSIGHT I JUST PICKED ME UP 1 OF THESE TODAY AND IM LOVING IT SO FAR!
where's the mp3 player, cant find it?

Do you think this would be a good upgrade for my moms iPhone 3gs? She talks and texts a lot!
Better everything compared to 3GS, including battery life for talking/texting.
very good review always, thank you
I'm gonna' buy this for my dad since he doesn't wanna' renew his contract, but the sprint version of this isn't out yet :-\
Just bought one of these for my son, wow! At this price point nothing gets anywhere near it, its hands down the best mobile device in the world at this ridiculously low price and is a serious game changer.
$180 for the 8gb unlocked model? I got mine for $100. Funny how prices can drop so much in such a short timespan.
My only problem about it is the storage. Wish they has a 32GB model at $230.
One of the best smartphones I have had.
Is the music when you use a earphones loud?
After a month I actually prefer this to my S4 it feels snappier and more comfortable AND I'm running kit kat. I bought this as my cheap backup phone but now my S4 feels like the backup phone
Hey there. Good show. Tmobile is only offering 3g not 4g. Is it becuase of the global GSM version? thank you for your attention.
10 more days till its here in Belgium :)
When is this coming out in australia?
How do I change the ringtone to my own music?
How s the music quality through headphones?
is anyone else finding the camera really fuzzy/blurry all the time, any way to fix this or is there something wrong with my particular phone?
Hi Joshua, when Moto G will launch to India? Is there any dual sim version? pls reply
is so similar to motox.. the only thing i don't like is the curved corners
I love the price point so much... I want it now. :u
Is there a place for a Sim card or no? If so, then the only gb that you have are those that it comes with, 8gb or 16gb?
It's been over a month now and I absolutely love my Moto G. It is everything I need in a smartphone without all the fancy bells & whistles. I also highly recommend a Motorola Grip shell (about $20) that gives it a great solid profile.

It's weird that my first thought was how perfect this guy's voice is.
I'm thinking on switching from my battered S3 to this. Am I crazy?
One of the best reviews done by Josh.. He's getting better and better
4.5 inch is the PERFECT size for most everybody's hand
That's what she said
*HE
Don't Trust Me It could be both XD
@@nicov2k lol
This matte black actually makes the phone look rather neat with a slight "professional" or "formal" vibe. #MotoG
My brother has a htc droid incredible with a cracked screen and I got him this phone for his birthday and since his htc is very old and lags, I thought he was going to be excited but he didn't seem to like it.
Two good things about the new 4G model: it has LTE (duh) and a MicroSD slot.
The Moto G with KitKat is just stellar
If this could be sold worldwide at that price, it would shake things up quite a lot
Did that guy march Spirit? It looks like hes wearing a delta!

oh and btw, you cant put a SD card in it? :'c is 8 gigs enough? :x

moto G or the last year razr hd?
Is it going to be like the moto x, design it yourself thing cuz I have iPhone 5s, moto x, and galaxy s3 I'm thinking of buying it.
how do you add songs you downloaded music to be your ring tone got me beat
Im confused by his words at the start. "Because Im Josh".....?
Going to get this of Tesco in UK which has it listed for £99 and £129 for 8gb and 16gb respectively. This phone should have been given a proper launch. Let's hope Motorola can keep up with demand because demand is gonna be high.
His voice is so relaxing!
Can you expand the memory for this phone? like using a MicroSD

Chromecast doesnthat
Dark W moto to TV.

Good review. Short and presige. I like it the way Joshua highlights the pros and cons of the device.
ok. i have made up my mind.
I will go for....
NEXUS 5 >_< Once for all!
Does the Moto G have some kind of notification for messages?
yes...and on the lock screen too boot
Just got this phone. Can't say I miss my S3 tbh.
Only problem I have with this is the battery being stuck inside. But as long as the battery is good (which it is. charges quick and takes long to die when not playing games), then whatever.
Will there be a Moto G 2 this year?
Should I get the Moto G or the Xperia SP? In my country, they cost pretty much the same right now....please help!
That's the two I was considering as well, but the Moto G was cheaper and I've ordered it now anyway.
will this phone work with verizon wireless? i only mentioned tmobile and att
The one weird thing to leave out: NFC. Why? Odd really. That is my one complaint.
Yeah it's not a deal breaker. But I love using my programmable nfc tags for automation.
Good review. When will it be avaialble in India.
Does it have a front facing cam
Im pretty sure that i see one but would like to make sure
It does
it has one
I was waiting for this review for some time now, unfortunately the single SIM model 16gb is not available in my country, I will probably have to import. Anyway thanks, my last doubts clarified.
The lack of 4G LTE is a deal-breaker. If they could add that and keep the price, then it would be the best.
Can somebody answer my question please? It is very important as the holidays are coming up and I'm looking to get this for someone as a gift. do you think that the Moto g will get slow and laggy over time (lets say after a year or so of use)
Is this running on 4.4?
If this lands @ around 10 ks in India ; it will literally kill all the competition !!!!!
My fav phone yet
does moto g have wifi direct?
I bought the Nexus 5 for the same reason as the appeal of the moto G - affordable to buy unlocked and no more 24 month contracts..
possibly the best review of any phone I have ever seen.
I love the Moto G. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone who has never had a smartphone before because this is all you really need. It should be considered in its own because it's Josh from Android Authority *weird salute thing*?
Motorola is now my favorite company. But we all know this is because Google bought their mobile branch, Google is the only company that gives a crap about its consumers.
not anymore!
I haven't really seen the Moto Z because of the exclusivity..
Hi, Josh! Thank you for this awesome review. I currently have an LGL39C. I am considering buying a Moto G. Are they comparable? Anybody have any input? Thank you so much!
Do people use NFC in the US I know here in the UK its null and void lol nowhere uses it, a few places tried it but then stopped
I just looked @ your review Tech..pretty good "-)
3:53 it says areoplane and not airplane
