One of my favorite things about the balor's fire aura is the cinematic potential for collateral damage. A balor rampaging through the material plane sets forests and towns alight just by virtue of it being there, and if your setting has cannons, and by extension gunpowder, you can do some crazy stuff with it just setting off explosions as it flies over a city's walls.
Another great video! I'm sad that you're only just getting into Pathfinder stuff now that the year of the fiend is coming to a close! Their take on the Chain Devils (Kytons in D&D, Velstracs in Pathfinder) is absolutely wild, portraying them as basically Shadowfell-dwelling Hellraiser cenobites, with tons of great body-horror goodness!
"Obviously we have Pathfinder fans that are already mad at us." We're not, though. We're just proud and happy. I've been listening to this show for years, and I love the fact that you're still trying to learn new things. The numerical details of the rules aren't that important, it's the story and personality of the creature that's represented by those rules that we're here.
On the subject of why your clothes and and other equipment don't burn if you don't, I think it's something like a lesser version of magical attunement. Once you start getting strong enough, the items you wear and weild all the time get an imprint of your magic infused through them; while this doesn't prac4ically speaking improve them enough to be significant, it does essentially loan them your strength and durability to some extent. Just my theory.
If teleporting doesn't bring anything worn or carried, then the showering idea is pointless, because the dirt & grime would just be left behind. You could warp once and be clean. So it's actually a great idea.
Wotc may own the rights to D&D but the community owns it's game and whatever lore we choose to use. You can give whatever little nuggets of lore you think would be cool in your own campaigns. I won't support WoTC but I will support the people who have kept this game alive for the last 2 decades, including Dungeon Cast. I will be sending in money as soon as I am able to.
DungeonCast Team! Question for you guy, what are you main sources for inspiration for a game, session or even an encounter? I love your lore episodes, even if I do not use the exact subject of the video I can usually find some kernels throughout that spark some ideas for things I can implement, borrow or tweak.
Congrats in re-monetization. I have not seen any RUclips ads during your vids, although one or two might play once the video ends before autoplay moves on to the next video. 🤷
Man balors are cool. I feel like despite vissually being a balrog ripoff, they're really interesting in dnd lore. A scene of one rampaging through the prime material plane would be so epic to watch. Also at 30:00 the mental image of teleporting to vegas onky to realize someone found, and took your clothing stash is really funny. "Alright lets go party in vegas for the evening! Fuck! Someone found my clothes!" At least you could simply teleport home instead of being stranded nude out there.
WELLCOME to 3.5 DnDfolks (which Pathfinder is based upon) !!!! It was f*cking brutal and unforgiving , every adventure and encounter was intense with everything on the line !!! In comparison to that , 5e is like a fully armored knight trying to take candy from a baby!!
@@Thedungeoncast looks like Grimly and Gromly are going to get a juicy promotion up the tank and file in some hand drawn fan art! I’ll post it in the discord when it’s done and maybe mail the physical version to your PO Box. Cheers William and Brian for finishing out Year of the Fiend. 🔥🤘😈
i'm sure someone said this, but pathfinder is closer to 3e or 3.5 dnd. you look back at old things and they'll be challenge 38 or 40, with like 55 strength. it can be scaled really close to 5e if you're familiar with it, but everything was waaaaaaaaaayyy more deadly then. had to do more with positioning and height. readiness. whether or not your "flat footed". that can change your AC and a bunch of stuff. also you could have more spells active at once. concentration wasn't really a thing. my biggest problem with 5e was always that it's so safe. like in 3e and pathfinder if your drop below zero hit points, you are down that many hit points. like if you have 20 hp, and take 30, you are at -10. not 0. your cleric heals you 8, you're not at 8, you're still dying at -2 hp. anyway, good show guys. shout out to Demogorgon.
Mixing creatures with other creatures that are “corrupted” or changed in some way is always fun. D&D even did it recently by making a dragon infected with an elder brain, and you could theoretically do it with just about anything else.
If you are a celestial Angel 4 celestial solami knights cap off mystical weapons artifacts trap and let's say DIS the nine realms and you had a face up against 4-5 balors and archduchess zariel can you win that run that gauntlet
"i was thinkin' of Itachi's... Its so big and red.". Nice. 😏. My only regret is that this joke didnt come soon enough, no one is likely to ever read it. That is a true shame...
Just as I refreshed the page, I prayed that the Dungeoncast would post a new video, and so it was. Thanks Demogorgon!
Shout out to Demogorgon!
Glory be to Lord Demogorgon!

I love it when my party makes just the right kind of wrong decisions to justify me throwing these guys at em
Balors and Pit Fiends are the most badass monsters in d&d.

I would love to see you guys cover Numenera and it’s lore. It’s really fascinating and I think you guys would dig it

My sister got locked up for public intoxication so we had to Balor out of jail!
The teleporting conversation is my favorite part of this video!
Hey RUclips, quit dragging your heels and re monitize these guys. Without content creators you have near nothing. Love the dungeoncast
Bruh give us some Golarion lore! The pantheon is my favourite set of published gods
DungeonCast Team!

I'm gonna run a diabolic and demonic lore campaign and your videos are so helpful guys!!!! thank you so much!!!
You guys are awesome but what about the klurichir demon? It’s ranked above the balor
If you guys are doing Pathfinder monsters I think you'd probably really dig Blood Hags.
Lots of great Balor lore is in the books. Salvatore uses several.
Shout out to demogorgon!

If yall tackle Pathfinder lore, it would be wild and fun. Happy Year of the artifact
How dare you say to your audience It’s fiendish of us to talk about the Balor lol. I Love you guys ❤😂.

Stupid death throw almost killed my Hexblade.
Would a Balor serving our favorite Demon Lord Demogorgon have 2 heads?
Absolutely

@ 26 min guys it’s because the heat and strain of battle causes you to sweat
Did you ever do a Pazuzu episode?
teleportation is a complicated topic
Dope I like the display update. Pathfinder upfront
Shout out!
I do appreciate conversion into metric.

That and even the monsters had classes and levels with all applicable abilities
Not immune to disease , so what your saying is it can become a vampire, werewolf or illithid corrupted? HmmmmMmmmm
