Great video. My brother who is a firefighter told me to PUT ON LEATHER GLOVES, pop the hood, give some short (not micro) bursts all around under the hood to create a blanket, AND THEN, open the hood with finger on trigger.
Great Video: I bought the whole complete setup with extinguisher/Quick detach/separate mount to put on the passenger seat and it worked awesome .... that is until my wife got in and tried to move the seat forward about 6 inches! It broke the SEAL on the pin and the pin FELL OUT, and we ALMOST had an extinguisher accident ............ I thought I had calculated the proper distance, but on a long distance journey she moves the seat back and forth to different locations, such as when I am "night" driving, she moves it forward and then reclines the seat to sleep. During the day she slides the seat as far back as possible so she can relax and read. I have tried to somehow mount it so it moves with the set instead of mounted solid, but I have since removed it and will try and find some area in the back. Your second option behind the passenger seat is GREAT, but our seats are mostly DOWN as the back is packed with all the rest of our gear. I will try and mount on the REAR Window Molle, but of course that has stuff that will interfere as well. These are the FUN times on figuring out WHERE to put all the goodies. Again: Thanks for the great video and ideas.
Thank you so much for the video!!! Being a former Marine, I can't help but point out that the American Flag in the background is hung backwards. The Field of Blue goes in the upper left corner when displaying the flag vertically.
Over the past 9 months, I've watched every one of your videos (even the FJ videos). Each of them is the perfect combination of information, entertainment, and perhaps most importantly inspiration. There are a lot of folks putting up videos about 4Runners. Without a doubt, your work is the best of the lot. Thanks for the contribution you are making to this community.
Fuses, fuses, fuses. People rewire without them or use fuses that don't protect the wiring. And fuel line fires are real. Almost had one myself as a result of a front brake fire. The fuel line was routed directly above the hub/caliper. Great vid.
Just a note, when I opened the hood that fed lots of air draft to the fire. You're better off just cracking the hood open an inch or two, and start discharging the extinguisher before you open it any further.
Well, I see my guess a couple of weeks ago on the fire extinguishers I saw on the bench was correct. I have set up my 4Runner in the same manner with a MaxOut on the panel in the rear and the HalGuard in front of the driver's seat. One comment - I've been trained to release (pop) the hood and spray first through the opening before opening it all the way. I did notice Merri was ducking and counting before engaging the fire. Another fantastic video. Thanks for all the great content!
Barry Boswell yep you were right. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Thanks for watching. We really appreciate the kind words. And good idea regarding spraying into the opening before opening all the way.
I don't offroad, but my 2 foot backfires brought me here. Better safe than sorry!! I ended up going with the non-corrosive one. I like my paintjob too much to want to ruin it! (Assuming I put out the fire quickly enough to save what's left!)
Great tips, thanks for making this video. I got a couple FireXO extinguishers for my cars. They are rated for any type of fire. Although they only have a 3 year warranty.
First let m congratulate you for having quality extinguishers Amerex and Sentry are two of the best made. I see so many yachts and very expensive RVs with the trash one you showed, it makes zero sense to have garbage cheap safety equipment wether it’s a huge investment or not. I don’t know of any extinguisher that will ruin or even damage paint (fire extinguisher service vehicles aren’t destroyed by extinguisher agents), corrosive not really it does melt and can be a real pain to clean. I love how clean Halon or Halatron is and great as you said for under the dash but it’s best used in a confined area as that other wise there’s not enough concentration, it’s not so good for outdoors, imagine shooting hair spray in a breeze the Halon/Halatron looks and acts in the same manner, it blows away. I was in the extinguisher business for decades.
The most important part of any emergency is to get away from it. Expensive rigs can be fixed or replaced. If you have decided to fight the fire be prepared and fight smart. Watching the rig burn is better than being burned. I mount my quick release extinguishers to the roof rack and bumpers.
Great video! I just went through fire extinguisher training work, and all your descriptions were spot-on to what were trained. Quite a big time difference having the fire extinguisher at hand, and actually it should have been an even greater difference, having the rear swingouts already open were a big time-saver. I'm just starting to outfit my 4Runner now, so I'll definitely look into these companies that you mentioned.
@@WanderlostOverland for sure! A few days ago I was just reading about how a person I follow on Instagram had recently lost their beautiful K5 Blazer set up for overlanding to a fire. Definitely drives home the point of being ready!
I'm thinking of putting mine under the passenger seat like you showed in the video. Can you move the seat back and forth normally, or does this limit how far forward you can go? Also, is it annoying for passengers maybe banging their feet on it?
Thanks for another great video. I have a 4unner as well. I am curious as to how you mounted your seatback MOLLE panel. I tried one in the past. Going around the headrest was no problem, but the lower strap that wrapped around the seat was in the way when someone sat in the seat.
Grey man tacical something new I never hear of them , i already got my orangeboxx rear larger fold down table one I can have a place to carry my fire arms rifle and shot gun when over landing need protection from all things that might want to bother you thanks for new information on something
Good question! When the hood is opened it introduces a rush of air (oxygen). There may be a flash of flames. Give it a couple seconds before introducing your face to it.
Sorry about that. It looks like they're no longer on Amazon. Here's a link to their website. You can get one there. Thanks for watching! www.h3rperformance.com/
like your rear of seat mount looks much cleaner and out of your way . where i work almost every vehicle has a 5 lbs abc with steel mounts riveted into rear storage box and or in back of drivers seat for the most point .
Excellent video as usual. I wasn't expecting that high of cost but it does seem worth it. I've been looking at Greyman Tactical products and I'm sold because although my BROG seat back panel works it does lack rigidity for heavier items.
hey guys, what is that red basket looking attachment on the molle panel in your rear window? i have been looking for something like that to mount my first aid kit.
I have a 10lb purple-K extinguisher I forgot to return to an up armored humvee once upon a time. Perfect for vehicle fires. I've noticed that for lack of an education on the subject, lots of offroaders pack household extinguishers which are much less if not at all effective against vehicle fires but are readily available everywhere.
That old Cheapy as you have called it is an Ansul Sentury and it is a quality ABC Fire extinguisher and NOT a Cheapy. Ansul Products were sold for high use to industry and public safety.
All fire training tells you to never open the bonnet/hood if there is a fire under it just crack it. If you open it the fire flares up and could even engulf you.
the stupidest thing you can do in a situation of fire in the engine is to try to open the hood. I was able to extinguish my engine much faster than your advice, lay down on the ground and extinguished the engine from the bottom up.

Ive been running the Greyman Tactical Panels for years and LOVE them! Highly recommend them.

Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. You guys can simplify anything. Hats off ❤

Great content but I had already given this thumbs up based on her smiling.
Fair enough!
LOVE THE VIDEO!!! especially the end 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Ross! And thanks for watching!

I have a new to me 95 Jeep ZJ and definitely want the added safety. I plan to mount 2. 🤙🏾
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching!

Thank you kindly Tod!!!

Unfortunately we can't move our seat. Surprisingly the extinguisher doesn't get in the way.

Hi there; you probably haven't had to refill your halon extinguisher yet. But is there places readily available to do so?
I'm guessing a commercial fire safety equipment dealer would have the special agent to refill with.
Very costly, difficult
@@WanderlostOverland😂
Where did you find the Red mole basket attached to your rear side panel? Your video s have been very helpful.
That and the panels in the rear windows are from Orangeboxx Fab. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Question: why the 2-count before spraying the engine compartment?
Good question! When the hood is opened it introduces a rush of air (oxygen). There may be a flash of flames. Give it a couple seconds before introducing your face to it.
Where did you source the aluminum plates from that you used to attach the mount to the seatback molle panel? Do you know the hole spacing?
The link doesn't work anymore. Where can I get a single can of the one that doesn't destroy paint ect.?
Sorry about that. It looks like they're no longer on Amazon. Here's a link to their website. You can get one there. Thanks for watching! www.h3rperformance.com/
great video
Thanks!
nice set up but im not paying 400 plus for a fire extinguisher set up. LOL!!!!
The bloopers made me subscribe lol
THANK YOU 👍👍👍👍

Does it block the seat airbag or cause any issues?

Rechargeable halotron extinguishers are expensive. How much is it to refill halotron, and do any places even do this?
I wonder as well maybe you have to send the fire extinguisher to the manufacturer

a 10lb purple-K extinguisher is a perfect choice also a foam Extinguisher is a good option for class A B fire
I like how feisty Merri gets when she flubs a line.
Aunt Janet Ha Ha, can’t help myself!
If Im going to use the Molle back seat solution, where do I get the brackets? Do you sell them or does H3R?
H3R sells them.
