      Whites will do absolutely nothing, but pretend to listen. Then, they won't even pretend to listen. Blacks need to completely stop speaking to whites about structural racism. Whites know exactly what structural racism is, because they perpetuate it with every generation. Blacks should take that energy and educate and buildup each other and only each other. If whites can't control the narrative, then they will ensure that structural racism is heavily practiced and enhanced. Dr. Eddie just wasted his precious and valuable time with this interviewer.

      @lolliannbruce7783 7 дней назад

      LGBTQA+ is not a race of people. But rather a group of people who made unconventional lifestyle/sexual choices. So it's more about discrimination in this regard, rather than racism. Hopefully this makes sense.

    • @Dre85651
      @Dre85651 7 дней назад +5

      No he is talking about populations, communities and groups that historically have experienced marginalization. Furthermore some people embody multiple identities at the nexus of race, sexuality and gender identity. To mention the lgbt + community doesn’t minimize the experience of race.

    • @blakkkmale
      @blakkkmale 7 дней назад +2

      “Mandatory” would imply that every conversation about race is governed by some ubiquitous set of rules and we know that’s not true. However the two often intertwine when discussing inclusion and marginalization by an Oppressive majority. You should really ask yourself why you’re reluctant to include it in the conversation. There are Black people that are homophobic and gay people that are racist and I think they could learn a lot from each other

    Watching this brought so many thoughts to mind, but the one that strikes me the most is Claude's comment that "the idea of Whiteness has to die". This disappointed me extremely. I had looked upon Glaude as one of the more reasonable Black intellectuals speaking on our issues as a group. This is right up there with the notion propagated by many Black activists, if not intellectuals also that Black people cannot be racist because, it requires the power to impact other people's lives. They completely ignore the obvious fact that most people have always equated racism with prejudice and bigotry.
    Now to this specific question of Whiteness. Whiteness cannot exist without Blackness, and vice versa. Is Glaude, let alone Black people, willing to give up the idea of Blackness, which itself, is problematic, among us. Too many among us think and act, as if there is one way we all are, while knowing that is impossible. What is reasonable is that certain ideas of Whiteness, as is the case, with any group identity, are problematic, when they are of a socially negative nature, in that they create conflicts/hostilities between groups. Glaude seems to be missing the fundamental point, among us Black-Americans that, we must get our own house in order - our relationship with each other, in functional order, before we can effectively negotiate and advocate for any group benefits from government and society. Glaude needs to have an open and honest discussion with woke intellectuals and activists like Michael Eric Dyson, and begin the necessary widespread and thorough structured and systematic conversation among us as a group, that is necessary from us, in face of what most of us seem to agreed, is a systemic and structural force of opposition. The two people who made this whole idea the of systemic and structural nature of so-called White-supremacy, which is really White-hegemony, popular among us, advocated that we must compensate or over-compensate for our precarious - to say the lease situation, and again be structured and systematic in doing so. The fundamental problem with wokeness is that it paints a picture that most, if not all Black people's problems are the external causes of racism, in all its forms, and that none are internal - of our own making. They refuse to acknowledge that Black self-destructive/self-defeating behavior is as much of our problem as is the anti-Blackness from others, they focus exclusively on.
    Jessie Jackson used to be balanced in addressing our problems as a group. He advocated that we put down dope and rise up with hope, yet today younger generations have changed the word dope to mean something good/desirable. They call someone, who is a trailblazer, an OG (original gangster). Violence and drug dealing is celebrated, in one aspect of Hip-Hop culture, which to many in the world, may represents the face of Black culture, where once Black music in general, the Black Church, and the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, may have served as. America has always had a gangster-culture, even before it was called gangster. Black people surely did not create gangster culture, but of all the aspects of American-culture we can appropriate, sadly far too many of us have willfully and proudly chosen this.
    Something fundamental has gone wrong with us, and more sadly few will talk about it, certainly not give it the attention and concern it needs. It can also be seen in the inexplicable stance that many have been taking in recent decades, it seems now, that "Black on Black crime" is not a thing, basically because people harm/commit crimes against, people they live near. Many who say this like Michael Eric Dyson never said this in the past, so why now? They refuse to answer this question. The excuse they give about the factor of "proximity" being the main factor in crime, and thus their main consideration, makes no sense, yet very, very, few, among us have challenged them on this inexplicable position/stance they take on the value we place on our lives.
    Where even are our clear thinking allies, on this issue, especially on the related issue of mass incarceration and the senseless idea of calling for "defunding the police and the abolishment of prisons, as if, if that was done all crime would stop, and that all people in prison are innocent?
    What is to done about violent crimes? Is sending mental health professional on calls an answer? In mental facilities they have orderlies, to help them with out-of-control patients. Doesn't it make sense to have mental health professionals as part of the police force? If in a police vehicle, they could get through traffic more quickly and have someone with them, more suited to deal with someone, who can't control themselves? This is the kind of common sense discussions we should be having, but sadly it is not, or certainly not happening nearly enough. If this is the best we can do as seen in this video, then things may never get better.
