Both were fragile troubled people who were very vulnerable to online hate. Odd Eye is set in the future and is a warning about the internet that goes far beyond bullying. In Korean mythology people who have an 'odd' eye (eyes that are different colors) are able to see through any lie with the odd one. For Koreans that would be any color except brown.

In this one they go on the offensive, protecting people who have been bullied and telling the haters to shut their mouths or they'll do it for them. From my experience, InSomnia is one of the best fandoms I've ever come across, for any medium. I think a good portion of that is due to the fact that the girls very much seem to "live what they preach" in their music. A lot of their B-sides are about breaking down walls, striving to be your authentic self, standing up when everyone tells you to stop, and those themes have played out in Dreamcatchers own career. They're comically underrated in South Korea for a couple of reasons and have been told to give up at just about every point in their career. However, they've managed to press forward and build an impressive following internationally, all without compromising who they are to do it. This, combined with their songs acting as mouthpieces for real societal issues, draws in a somewhat more mature crowd, and whenever someone in the fandom tries to act counter these ideas the fandom collectively pushes back. Once you finish up with Odd Eye, I'd recommend going to the beginning and starting with their debut song Chase Me. This is the beginning of the Nightmare series, which spans 7 title tracks. I'd also recommend that you do album reactions at some point because their entire discography is immaculate. I personally love Boca for its message but also for the way it showcases the vocal strength of all of them. You actually have good timing for watching this one right before halloween. Dreamcatcher has made a special version of Boca, in collaboration with the styling and makeup staff from the Korean zombie show 'Kingdom'. It's called 'Boca Dance Video Zombie Version'. Fun for halloween and also gives you a better view of their choreography. Where to go after this trilogy depends on personal preference I think. Getting to know the members first, or going through their music first. There are some great guides about Dreamcatcher, curtesy of great fans. Downside of doing guides first, is that you will get some spoilers for their music, but if you would consider those Teasers instead of Spoilers, I would recommend a guide first. Yes, Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Dreamcatcher's live vocals? They delivered not just their live vocals, but with live bands too! Pretty sure you won't have problem to search some of those videos... But you know what, Dreamcatcher's coreography is said to be one of the hardest coreo from a girlgroup by a lot of profesional critics... You can imagine, how would a dance setup of a rock/metal song would be... And while they are dancing those coreo, they still insist to keep the microphone on while they perform... I'm not gonna lie, some performances maybe have had a backing track vocals play while they perform, but they still sing live because their mics were always on... the message behind BOCA by Dreamcatcher about cyber-bullying, hate speech, bodyshaming and everything in between still relevant till now..."Too many angels dying now.." in the lyrics, talk about how many bully victims that took their own life because of bullying...bullying became a big problem in South Korea society nowadays, the latest one involved a youtuber Pyo Yerim that suffered from school viol3nc3 during her school years. She got attacked by anonymous people in the comment after her confession earlier this year about being a bully victim in her school years for 12 years. After the confession, she said one youtube channel has targeting her & since then she got personal attack by multiple anonymous person in the internet. Few days ago, on October 10th...Pyo Yerim ended her own life, because she couldn't take it no more...

They have 3 lore for now, which is Nightmare Series, Dystopia Trilogy and Apocalypse Trilogy. BOCA belongs to 'Dystopia Trilogy' (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye) that talk about Languages of Hatred. 'Nightmare Series' touch more into Mental Health theme. While 'Apocalypse Trilogy' talk about Environmental theme.

There is no official lore from the company so everything is personal interpretation, even if it is repeated very confidently. The members have said Boca is a promise to help someone keep their mouth closed if they want to say something hateful. It is ALWAYS destructive even if meant to defend someone from other hate (a killer to protect you). The year before Dystopia started 3 idols committed suicide under mountains media and public hate comments, we think the line "too many angels dying now" is about them and others. Scream is about bullying (a big issue in Korea) to me; someone tormented so much breaks and now they want to make you scream. Bullying creates more bullies. If you finish the trilogy with Odd Eye keep an eye out for technology/ the online world warping reality, not the utopia we hoped for. Insomnia are enthusiastic. Enjoy the paragraphs and essays.
For more like Dystopia, go right into Apocalypse trilogy that just ended or BEcause a standalone summer song (Korea has a tradition of horror stories in summer). For something a little different try Red Sun, Full Moon, or And There Was No One Left. For VERY different try the Poison Love special clip, Jazz Bar, or Trust Me.

Hmm, I don't really like either the "English (United States)" or the "English (United Kingdom)" and go with the one that's just "English". At least in that one you see the English words when they're actually singing English whereas the other captions don't always match up which is weird. Don't know which is the most accurate but never had a problem with that one.

Yes, Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
I know, right!!?? They go from bright and up-beat to metal via beautiful and subtle. Incredible range and versatility. Just stunning!

And while they are dancing those coreo, they still insist to keep the microphone on while they perform...
I'm not gonna lie, some performances maybe have had a backing track vocals play while they perform, but they still sing live because their mics were always on...

the message behind BOCA by Dreamcatcher about cyber-bullying, hate speech, bodyshaming and everything in between still relevant till now..."Too many angels dying now.." in the lyrics, talk about how many bully victims that took their own life because of bullying...bullying became a big problem in South Korea society nowadays, the latest one involved a youtuber Pyo Yerim that suffered from school viol3nc3 during her school years. She got attacked by anonymous people in the comment after her confession earlier this year about being a bully victim in her school years for 12 years. After the confession, she said one youtube channel has targeting her & since then she got personal attack by multiple anonymous person in the internet. Few days ago, on October 10th...Pyo Yerim ended her own life, because she couldn't take it no more...

They have 3 lore for now, which is Nightmare Series, Dystopia Trilogy and Apocalypse Trilogy. BOCA belongs to 'Dystopia Trilogy' (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye) that talk about Languages of Hatred. 'Nightmare Series' touch more into Mental Health theme. While 'Apocalypse Trilogy' talk about Environmental theme.

There is no official lore from the company so everything is personal interpretation, even if it is repeated very confidently. The members have said Boca is a promise to help someone keep their mouth closed if they want to say something hateful. It is ALWAYS destructive even if meant to defend someone from other hate (a killer to protect you). The year before Dystopia started 3 idols committed suicide under mountains media and public hate comments, we think the line "too many angels dying now" is about them and others.
Scream is about bullying (a big issue in Korea) to me; someone tormented so much breaks and now they want to make you scream. Bullying creates more bullies. If you finish the trilogy with Odd Eye keep an eye out for technology/ the online world warping reality, not the utopia we hoped for.

Name pronunciation for reference (because romanization is terrible). SI is "she" and all the vowels are ee, oo, or ah except Dong. JiU jee-yoo, SuA soo-ah, Siyeon she-yawn, Handong hahn-dong, Dami dah-mee, say H in front of yawn for "hyawn" in Yoohyeon yoo-hyawn and Gahyeon gah-hyawn.

In Scream, the ladies were considered to be goddesses of a kind, stewards of the Tree of Language, which started to bear black fruit due to the harsh word of us humans. Tied to the Tree, they felt its pain as well as that of the victims of hate speech, and begged for it to stop... until that final chorus when they switched from "Please, I don't want to scream" to "I'm gonna make _you_ scream."
So as you figured, here they're going on the offensive against the perpetrators of said hate speech, basically saying "If you won't shut your mouth when we ask nicely... _we're gonna shut it _*_for_*_ you."_

If I may, I'd also like to throw out a recommendation for one of my _other_ favourite groups, Billlie (with 3 Ls). They're also a 7-piece girl group, a little newer than DC, but also absolute all-round aces.
Since we're on a rock vibe right now, I'll recommend one of their comebacks "Ring ma Bell (what a wonderful world)"; rock isn't what they _normally_ do (if they can even be said to _have_ a "normal"), but they basically do _everything_ brilliantly, and this one handily has the members' names at the end... 😜

Hmm, I don't really like either the "English (United States)" or the "English (United Kingdom)" and go with the one that's just "English". At least in that one you see the English words when they're actually singing English whereas the other captions don't always match up which is weird. Don't know which is the most accurate but never had a problem with that one.
The subtitles plot thickens!! One day we'll find the right ones :-)
@@alongfortheridereacts Luckily it's only really on Scream and BOCA because the community went to town on uploading captions in over 40 languages... then RUclips removed the feature so only thje channel owners can upload captions which is why Odd Eye and later have 1 English caption and no others.
