Nick brought this song in to record when it was clear that the record buying public was just not interested in his work. These recordings are so undeniable at this point that it's hard to believe that they were ignored at the time. They still seem to have nothing to do with 1969.
Folks, the pot of gold is NEVER at the end of the rainbow, it’s the searching for it and the beautiful souls that join your quest no questions asked. Being in that forward motion with the ones you love, that’s the gold.
This song seems to speak a lot to the frustration Nick must have felt in trying to get his music heard and the recognition he deserved during his lifetime. It's a gentle song, but backed up by a complex and strong guitar that sounds as if it's been down-tuned to a low register. What a master songsmith he was and so technically gifted too. Lovely photos accompanying this - he looked relaxed and very happy. Charming.
Incredible. I’ve played this like five or six times in a row. So different from official released version on Made to Love Magic CD. Nick’s guitar on this version is absolutely hypnotic, mesmerizing. I need this on an hour-long loop.
Unique and soul wrenching. I love Nick Drake songs.❤

My favourite version of this song, he added some oomph to the playing and it made a beautiful song become powerful too
Nice to see the very talented Nick Drake smile. Gary, Seaton, Devon
Why leave me hanging on a star?
When you deem me so high
Why leave me sailing in a sea?
When you hear me so clear
Quien tiene el corazon asi para escribir algo tan bello?

I actually prefer the other version, which I loop for an hour or more at a time. It is mesmerizing, all of it.
