- There is a LEGO cable that allows you to connect a Power Functions motor to an EV3 Brick. However, this piece is no longer available from the LEGO website and it it quite expensive to purchase from a website like BrickLink (around $30.00).
In this video we connect a Power Functions cable with an EV3 cable and use it to control a Power Functions connect motor and LED using Python, ev3dev, and an EV3 Brick.
Online Instructions:
BrickLink Part 8528: www.bricklink....
GitHub Code: github.com/cod...
ev3dev: www.ev3dev.org/
EV3 and Python: education.lego...

Instead of cutting you can also buy the NXT to 9v and use the Pf extention cable to power it.
I'm familiar with this one:
www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8528-1
But they're pretty hard to get. Is there another option?
@@codeadamca www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=x1676&idColor=11#T=S&C=11&O={%22color%22:11,%22cond%22:%22N%22,%22iconly%22:0} Try this. Much cheaper than the last one if used
the downside is it will need a unregulated motor block since that isent detected by ev3
I also have brick pi3
The Brick Pi is awesome!
@@codeadamca Wait is that EV3dev?
@@MegaMike1 Yep, the EV3 Brick is running ev3dev!
