I agree! I use my bags and shoes. I try to buy from designers that I know use durable materials. I stay friends with my local shoe cobbler. When I scuffed my Ferragamos from the steps at my graduate school, the cobbler touched them up. And I'm getting good at doing some repairs myself as well. When my suede Tiffany & Co tote got some discoloration, I got product and figured out how to re-dye it. Looks like brand new again! Most luxury goods can be repaired and are often worth repairing to get more life out of them. But in the end, they're things and have life spans like everything else. So enjoy them now while you're young.
That’s amazing how much you do yourself to repair and respite from!! Means you can be really creative with your pieces too and give them a second lease of life which is amazing !! Thanks for sharing 😃😃
I agree 100%. My shoes, purses and clothes are purchased to be used no to just be looked at. If something doesn’t get used a lot, it’s only because I have a lot of them.😂😂😂. I have been looking at your tea rose Aspinal of London, London tote. I finally found one on Poshmark and got it. It came to me in fabulous condition and I am happy to get the London Tote I always wanted.❤❤❤❤
I must admit my bags are sitting on their shelves collecting dust because I don't get out much except to doctors and surgeons appointments. I am hoping for a better 2025 as the last 2 years+ have been filled with surgeries. I have one on Friday December 13th and am hoping that is the last for this year. This was another great video lovely Nick and I always love seeing sweet Poppy. Much love. Jenni. XX💞
I have to bookmark this video because while I love to use my things as well, sometimes I worry about certain items. You're so right; things are things, and just meant to be enjoyed : )
Listening and watching your cat made me smile. One of mine sadly no longer here completely scratched the leather on my big LV trunk. It could be repaired but TBH reminds me of him. I think it’s only since IG people covet and buy items only to look at them. The rest of us use our stuff. At least we do in Paris. Great channel BTW.
You are so right….better to use those pieces! Thanks for the reminder. I am one that tends to obsess over minor flaws, and it’s really not worth the time or energy.
Nick you’re spot on, why pay out hard earned dosh if you’re not going to use yr lux items⁉️ Any scrape, scuff that can’t be fixed by a decent cobbler or leather artisan, just reminds one of what/where /how the mark occurred it’s called making memories or life. Have a fabulous morning, afternoon or evening 🐨🦘🇦🇺
Great video! It’s worth being honest with oneself about what you buy pieces for, I buy for wear but there are some on my wish list that I would buy just for shelf candy. 😊
I need to find the occasions, use my points, and go places to use those pieces. To your pre loved point, I do wonder should I have gone that route with my LV 55 that’s had some wear and character. Otherwise, I’ve no hesitation. Looking good, Nic!
Your video is great. In fact, I also have things from big brands and I'm afraid to use them for the same reason since I couldn't buy the same thing twice, but I still want to use them since that's why I bought them and that's what they're made for.
I literally have no idea what you were saying about your pink mulberry. I spent the entire time watching Poppy trying to decide whether to jump up on the shelf or not 🤣 Also, that bag completely complements her colours!
Nic I think personally that most items look better when we’ll worn , I agree that a lot of people buy for investment so are frightened to use them hun I’m not one of those lol life is too short ❤❤❤
Christian Louboutin once said, “The red sole was created for people to enjoy. Shoes are meant to be worn, to live in… don’t worry about the red wearing off. That’s a part of their story.”
Great topic. I agree that wear and tear are inevitable, however luxury brands have the resources to invest in making their products more durable. It’s bizarre that a subtle rubber sole isn’t standard for luxury footwear (it wouldn’t be hard for louboutin to create these in their iconic red). After all, having shoes that don’t slip should be considered a basic feature of luxury x
That’s a really good point ! Balancing aesthetics with usability. I guess for some the rubber sole would be seen as a bonus as they would theoretically get more wear out of their items, others may think it detracts from the shoe ! Interesting topic !
I sent a Cristian Dior trench coat to a laundry and they ruined the sleeves 😢😢😢 so I sent it to a tailor to repair the sleeves since I don't plan to lose that trench coat

So pleased you enjoyed the video and it was helpful !
Well said! 😊
I LOVED your attitude! We should enjoy what we love more than we fear making it imperfect….and Poppy looked magnificent as always!
Thank you so much !

Awh I love that you kept it with the scratch as the reminder ! Your cat had amazing taste to use a LV piece for a scratch !

It’s easy to do, but ultimately not worth it in the end !

Love that thought and attitude ! Hope all is well with you !

Shelf candy can be fabulous but as you said, know that’s why you’re buying it ! I love to buy for use too !
Valid points 😊💕

Every time you leave the house can be the occasion 😃😃

It absolutely is what they are there for, hope you’re loving your pieces 😃😃
@@nickjsneOf course I love them and take care of them very much.

Haha that really made me laugh !! She definitely steals focus, she’s such a delight !!

So many items age beautifully and show character when used and loved !

Very wise words from a fabulous designer !!

You can always get your shoes re-heeled and re-painted at the shoemaker.
100%

Oh I really hope the tailor can fix it for you !!
