Yeah, for the cost, I'm probably going to wait a few years until they get some sort of 3d eye tracking. Virtual pinball has come a really long way to replicating physical machines. In fact, some of the made for virtual pinball tables really lean into the things that being virtual allows that physical doesn't.
Thanks for the comparison, I think as Mr D Dodd has said in the past, its just a matter of immersion. After 5 minutes he says you find it hard to tell your virtual not real. Since real pinball are scare in real world arcades (in Oz) and usually only have latest releases, lots of us would only have fond memories to compare to... Plus the beauty of being able to immerse in 1000+ tables, compared to a single table, which is the real value of the excellent XGC machines.
I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s so this era of pinball(from 88 thru 98) is super nostalgic for me. I remember in the early to mid 2000s arcade cabinets and even pinball machines were fairly cheap. They were big and bulky, super heavy and hard to sell so you could find them really cheap. Fast forward 10 years and they suddenly became collector's items lol
I would love to have the space and money for a bunch of physical tables, I mean who wouldn't? But your virtual tables are simply fantastic and offer the best of both worlds, real mechanical feel but a thousand tables. Thanks for the comparison!
Thank you for this. It is a really nice comparison and what many are looking to see. There are clear differences, but you would have to expect that. The level of detail that some of these virtual tables have is quite amazing. Tables like this and the updated Star Wars table really show what the capability is. With the beauty as well as the mechanical features your machines provide, it really does emulate the mechanicals very well. Looking forward to more of these comparisons. For me, graphics can be better or worse, but the physics of the shots in these tables are what I am looking for an assessment. Mostly just to understand how a close to the 'feel' of the real table the creator managed to get. I know that a large part of that is subjective. Thanks again and Cheers. Looking forward to my next 'fix' when you release the next video.
Besides all the comments above, let's not forget a Real Pinball is heavy maintenance, with a steel ball bouncing everywhere... Maybe 3-6 months average in between service intervals? An XGC is zero maintenance, for the +1000 tables. No steel balls breaking things ;)
The problem with the side by side videos is you're are watching a video of a real table which causes you to lose a lot of the depth perception. In person you can totally see that the virtual pin is flat versus the dimension of the real one. Virtual is currently VERY impressive, but nothing beats the real deal.
Right. The upfront cost, then the maintenance cost for a single table vs spending 7-9k for 1000s. Personally I'm waiting for them to start implementing a 3d eye tracker to increase the immersion
I hope that there is some genius programmer out there who’s studying videos like this and working on the perfect lighting, reflections, and physics engine that will perfectly simulate the real thing. Oh… and hopefully they make it open source out of the goodness of their heart.
Virtual pinball will only get more real as technology advances and becomes cheaper. It's already come along way. I'm waiting for 3d eye tracking personally before I take the plunge and spend 8-9k
thanks for the comparison - cannot wait to get mine soonish : ).... do all the new ones being built come with the 1.6 System Darryl? I did send an email asking about it but never heard back or got an invoice accordingly. thanks and keep up the good work! 🤘🤘🤘
I think the most important parts are the gameplay and the enjoyment factor. Of course it won't look as nice as the original, but as long as the fun factor is there it doesn't really matter; and it's a lot cheaper.
Visual pinmame 8 made me buy 11 real pinballs 9 system 11 and 2 wpc here in Australia banzai run is one of them cant see that one look good in a virtual pin
Great comparison.
Virtual pinball realism
Sound 100%
Haptic feedback 90%
Software code 100%
Ball physics 90% adjustable per game
Cabinet build 100%
Backglass 100%
Dmd 100%
Playfield 75% lacks depth perception and viewing angles.

Thanks for the comparison. Shows off the beauty of the VPin as well as the charme of the mechanical original!
waiting patiently for my machine 😂 dying slowly

I would like to see a side by side comparison of Attack from Mars!!
and one year later you received sh*t. let that be a lesson to your begging kid.

What POV do you guys use for your tables? Thanks for video!
Would definitely been keen to see another comparison video for AFM, Monster Bash and Twilight Zone.
I couldn't possibly justify a real physical table, but hmmmm, maybe next year for one of these puppies. ;)

In my opinion Warm white bulbs should always go under the grass by the flippers, green just really makes the field look bad

With the emulation table..you can create your own video puppack right?
curious about monster bash! I'm definitely waiting for 240hz panels... but once a 240hz panel comes out.. my order is yours.

One stuffs up your eyes and one doesn't is the major takeaway here.

Hot take : Virtual > Real lol
lol. even the high scores are the same... @5:05
Sorry. No comparison. I had the rea Indiana Jones. I have the virtual. The real one is SO much better. I super miss my real machine. sigh.
Did you sell the real one?
