Great discussion Michael and now I have another film to watch during this weird time with your recommendation of The Big Red One. Much love to you and Melinda my friend.
Fan of both channels. This was a lovely conversation. These kinds of conversations and stories/memories are why I collect the toys I do to this day. Thanks for the great video!
Had plenty of the Adventure people. The jeep, the van, the tent, the shuttle, a lot of those. Had the European only Star Wars, GIJOE, Transformers, Go Bots. Played with them all together
Hey Tony, I'm with you on the Imperial Troop Transport. I was born in 70 so the ITT was my very first SW vehicle (thanks Dad). With it for my birthday right before Christmas I also got 2 vinyl caped Jawas, 2 Stormtroopers and R2. So I was moving around a single jawa, a single trooper and R2. Hey it worked. FYI, my mom kept a duplicate of every figure on card. Still have that vinyl caped Jawa in my home office cabinet! Great chat guys... and I love both your channels! - Rob G.
Really nice to listen to you two chat - wonderfully, and gently informative. And Tony, my father served in Burma during WW2 with the Royal Artillery - I think he was my inspiration when it came to collecting Action Man... After all, he was the first and greatest of my heroes. Great video. Hope you and your family are remaining safe and sound. :)
Great Vid Tony. I agree with you about the US embassy in Bagdad. I was a PSC in Basra and loved our trips to the US emabassy and the PX. We could actually get ice cream.
I love these Palitalks! Michael is my favorite and like the previous poster stated, you guys have great chemistry! Funny thing is I am not even a toy collector, but I love both your channels. Thanks for the superb content!
I'd love to hear Michael and yourself discuss a future topic that just focuses on vintage action figure toy weapons and accessories that came with our favourite toys.
Fantastic episode Tony! Talking about versatile toy's, I remember using the StarWars Rebel Transporter as a boat during certain play scenarios by removing the figure compartment and using the bare bones of the vehicle. It never touched water!!! This was purely imagination. I also remember building slot of vehicles out of Lego to accommodate Action Force and StarWars figures. Anyway all the best my friend.
Have to enthusiastically agree with Mike on something- the Adventure People Alpha Probe was AWESOME. I really liked the big planetary rover they did as well.
I have seen the theatrical version of Big Red One many times and it always seemed a little disjointed to me. Now I know why. I didn't know it had deleted scenes and content. I will have to find the reconstructed version of the movie. It's cool learning things on this channel about toys, collecting, restoration and now movies to. This is becoming one of my favorite channels.
I remember the VCR game of Clue. We had the Betamax edition. 4 extra characters, but no Billiard Room or Lead Pipe even though they get referenced on the videotape. :(
Amazing! Hearing you guys talk about your experiences in the early 80's with all these toys and to think that I had similar experiences back then, being thousands of miles away (Dominican Republic)...crazy cool...👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 What is your opinion on Star Trek toys? I think that's a toy line that could've been more.
I really wished they made the ships for the same sized figures as their 3 3/4'ths line as well. I used all the spaced themed action figures of that size used the Adventure People sized space shuttle kind of things with the Star Wars and BSG figures and Micronauts and whatever else had aliens and villains
Hee hee. I had to mix and match my 3 3/4" action figures a lot. Seeing as I couldn't get a lot of any one range. I did build up a large amount of Star Wars over my time and quite a few Micronauts. But I also mixed in Battlestar, Buck Rogers, Action Force, Fisher Price Sci-fi ones and Super Heroes. For ages I had to use Airfix German Infantry as Stormtroopers with Star Wars figures as I didn't have many Stormtroopers for a while. Eventually I got 13 of them by buying everyone I saw from Holidays and I local shops when they had them. But the 70's was like that!
LOL I think the only time Snake Mountain looked like the playset was either in coloring books or children's storybook, but the cartoon version was way different. I remember in the She-Ra cartoons,The Fright Zone was bigger and more interesting than the toy.
What is the deal with funco pops, why are they so popular? As I assume you feel, I agree that those are complete garbage collectibles! People talk about how you can get exclusive figures (like Marty in radiation suit). But who cares because they look nothing like the characters! They’re made solely for the sake of collecting, not collectible for the sake of them being cool items that you like!
And it’s not so much that they don’t look like the characters, as that’s how vintage figures are too hahaha, but the funco pops have terrible looking per portions. Stubby looking with beady eyes, very strange things to want to collect hahaha.
Really enjoyed this discussion! Thanks for having me back!

Love how the Troop Transport turns up in "The Mandalorian"
Man, you guys have great chemistry. What an organic and very entertaining conversation. Fun topic, too.
58:36 I have a Kenobi like that too. I call him "Gangsta Lean" Kenobi.
My favourite two RUclipsrs talking about toys. Perfect 👌

I'm enjoying this series, appreciate the content.
This was an excellent podcast about toys, and I really loved your stories of how toys impacted your life experiences.

Couldn’t be so different but so similar.. i love the way this “hobby” brings people together
Great chat. I agree Tarkin was a missed opportunity and I wanted him to be a figure. I'll take that extra if you want LOL!
Thanks for this one. Really enjoyed it🙏👍

Great start to my day. Now I'm gonna go dig up my Big Red One reconstructed dvd.
That was a cool story about your grandfather.
I'd love to hear Michael and yourself discuss a future topic that just focuses on vintage action figure toy weapons and accessories that came with our favourite toys.

1977 me and Tony share a birthday! :)
Opportunity missed for a toy line. Mattel Battlestar Galactica Viper and Cylon Raider.

I used all the spaced themed action figures of that size used the Adventure People sized space shuttle kind of things with the Star Wars and BSG figures and Micronauts and whatever else had aliens and villains
I had the Adventure People green camper van - Action Force commandeered it.😂

Ok. Nice chat. Very entertaining.
Why not a "best generic vehicles for 3 3/4 figures" video?
I own a boxed Firestar with figure. I also own a X-Ray Man and X-Ray Woman.

The vehicles Michael was talking about around the 44 min mark were the Lazer vehicles from Gay Toys.
Possibly
