The last boat was a pleasure to see! Like what we would call a Bateau. Although Maine is not French the history goes back to early French settlement and in our recent past the Bateau was use in our logging industry.
:-) Also fun to see the Japanese... I've lost a lot of ability to read kanji.... something ""ra-i- n" below" not as in rain, thinking it had to do with ropes, or possible level?? Very cool.
@@canoeing Very cool. My son is living, working in Japan. He was born there while I taught English for 3 years. Hope to go visit him. The Arakawa river runs north west of Tokyo, through Saitama-ken.
@@canoeing if you dont trust me enter in RUclips "whitewater carnage" and watch, what could happend. I am raft guid, so this is my work. Sorry for bad english
I'm looking at my first canoe and would love some advice. We get rapids like this where I'm at (North Idaho) and I'm looking at an Old Town Discovery 169. Do you think that boat could handle waters like these?
Thank you for your comment. Although it is Discovery 169, it is okay to have a torrent in terms of canoe performance. However, you also need paddling skills and safety equipment.
Loved seeing the bateau come down. And what a great rapid
Thank you very much. I look forward to your video in the future.

Thanks for your comment. This is a tourist boat. Passengers enjoy seasonal views and the thrills of the rapids.
I can't believe nobody is wearing a helmet! Scary!
Thank you. Safety comes first!
your crazy as hell to do that without a helmet (sorry I'm a nurse) but that looks freaking awesome fun
Thank you for your comment. As you say, safety should come first.
Very capable, underrated boat I miss my Camper 16
@SUP-SURFER. Thanks for your comment.
The beautifully shaped "CAMPER" is popular in Japan.
Yeee Haaaw!!! Very impressed. I'm going tomorrow, the Guadalupe river in tx. Love the videos!
Thank you very much! Enjoy canoeing in Texas! Please continue watching my video.
Are those inflatable bouys in the bow and stern? Or are they just gear in dry bags?
Thanks for your comment. Floatation bags are attached to the bow and stern.
What river??
This river is in japan. The name is Arakawa River.
