Finally got around to watching this. If you are reading this and haven't watched it before, it's well worth it. It might seem to move slowly but if it didn't, you wouldn't care as much for the characters and it wouldn't hit you in the feels as much... It does have a happy ending (if you can call it that). It's more of a satisfying end to book 1 such that if book 2 never comes out, you aren't left on a total cliff hanger!

Zhang Ruo Yun is quite good. He has a very alive facial expression. I enjoyed his acting at the Joy of life and also I enjoy it now. I have watched a few episodes and can say - it's very interesting. Along with Luoyang these 2 dramas are my favourite so far.

I watched this already and watching it again to share some thoughts that hopefully will appeal to a number viewers looking for a story, not about romantic love. It is about a family's endeavor to maintain the peace that has been achieved by their father by fighting during the chaotic time. Each member of the family shares that vision but trying to approach the situations of dissent by different means. Maintaining the peace, unity and progress is prevalent in everyone's mind. They are all very good strategists, but the father and the heir do not share the same vision on how to maintain the hard won peace in the region. This is where you will enjoy following their every move, every strategy and their use of the hidden talents in their "arsenal". The sideline love story is pure.
This is THE cdrama of 2022! Absolutely fantastic! Well paced, good humor, story line, plot twists, characters, everything!! Now if only we get the news of Joy Of Life s2 as well 😭 I hope they release the s2 of both series soon!

I just started a few hours ago and I am now watching episodes 6 and I can’t stop. This dramas is a master piece; smart and interesting. The acting is great and each episode is surprising. ZRY is such a great actor. 👏 I am really intrigued by the development of the relationship between the father and son. Thank you for the Eng Subs.

Binged all the episodes and i must say it is one of the best series i watched in a while.
I just binged this up to date in the last 2-3 days and WOW. I could not put it down for a second. Usually I skip things that does not hook me on 1-2 episodes but I literally watched every second. So impressive with the plot, character development and acting. Big fan of Zhang Ruoyun in Joy of Life and he execute this drama perfectly also. Cannot wait for the rest of the episodes to come out!!!
Zhang Ruo Yun is one of my favorites actors and his father here was a general too in Ever Night season 1. It's like a reunion of my two favorite dramas(Joy of life and Ever Night season 1). 😍

This marks the second C-drama I've rewatched, with 'The Untamed' being the first. Its brilliance remains undiminished over time.
The portrayal of Huang stood out to me significantly. He possesses a certain allure that's quite captivating. Yang Hao Yu's nuanced performance was delivered with exceptional finesse.

Good news - Just saw that Joy of Life S2 will be coming out this year - 2023. And there is supposed to be 3rd season. It does not look like Li Qin will be in the 2nd season. She was the Female Lead (actress Li Qin) in Joy of Life S1. I have avoided that show (JoLS1) as I did not like her in Song of Glory (which was awful) and I chugged thru that drama because the Male Lead was so bright - but by the middle everything turned tragic. Zhang Ruo Yun is quite charming so I may grit my teeth and watch Joy of Life 1.

Excellent show! Zhang Ruo Yun is great as the ML. Also the FL is very interesting - still maturing and getting her bearings (I love Lee Gengxi's offhand comments about Xu Feng Nian, they crack me up) - which we will hopefully see more off in Season 2.

Grandes actuaciones, personajes entrañables y una muy compleja intriga. Desgraciadamente, hacia el 7mo capítulo tuve que migrar de plataforma, porque se había interrumpido la traducción al español y, en inglés, se me dificultaba seguir los magníficos y detallados diálogos. Espero puedan adelantar esa traducción, asi la disfruto en v/canal, nuevamente. Porque vale la pena ver 2 veces esta serie. Gracias por el esfuerzo de subir y traducir un material tan excelente.

it amazes me how they resurrected the late 70s 80s kung fu movies back to the screen so beautifully in 2021, i wanna spoil so bad, NOT, again great subs and drama, keep up the good work
No, now it's it's all special effects with explosives, tornadoes ect which gets repetitive and boring. They used to actually fight in the vintage versions and showed amazing skills and had cool dialogues too.
