No certainly not. I moved here 6 years ago from London. I love it here. Spring and Summer Bridlington comes alive, many tourists and everything open. In the summer the sea can be a lovely blue or Emerauld green with silver shining on the water. The skies here are stunning. Somebody here said that once u have spent an hour in Brid there is not much else to do. For a family holiday there are plenty of things to do. Arcades, funfair rides, paddling pools for kids, Pirate ship..Water slides indoor pool. Land train.Beautiful beach. Lovely walks..The Worlds not far from here for walks. Yes come back in the height of summer. You will wonder why Brid got named the worst seaside.
No no no we visited Bridlington last year when we holidayed in Scarborough and liked Bridlington very much I can’t understand where it gets this bad thing against it greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I hate the place, I lived there for 10 years. worst 10 years of my life... the people stare, the shops are bare and basically it's not worth visiting, living or going near. SORRY brid folk...NOT!!
Bridlington resident. I think any seaside town is not at its best in the 'off' season. The land train, amusements, pleasure beach are all closed, but Bridlington can still get pretty busy on summer weekends. The birds are puffins. There is a big bird sanctuary just up the coast at Bempton, where puffins nest. The housing stock around the seafront has definitely seen better days, but it is hard to attract investment nowadays. Many of those huge houses were turned into guest houses and hotels and, with the decline of residential holidays in the UK, are now often turned into flats.
It's most certainly not the worst seaside town, we both have been coming here for years now and in recent years they have been spending money on the place, but it will all take time.
I visited Bridlington a few months ago for a long weekend despite having seen the negativity surrounding it. Weather was stormy and we loved watching the rough waves. I could sit overlooking these beaches for a long time and not tire. Everyone we met was so friendly and we loved it. We will definitely be back. Xx
Yeah me and my brother every year would go visit my dad in Bridlington and there would be thunder storms and me and my brother would just watch the lightning.
Great video, I can answer a few questions. The lifeboat is a Shannon class, so it's quite big, it gets taken into the sea on a specialised tractor which is also housed there, the old lifeboat station was on the main road opposite the Bridlington Spa. The painted giant puffins are part of a large art exhibition in East Yorkshire, if you ask at Tourist Information, you can get a map with all the locations.I believe you are right with the concrete path into the sea, there are tidal breaks and sea defence along the north and south beach. The land trains do operate on a regular 20 minute schedule, sadly only in tourist season though, we also have one which runs from the leisure centre to Sewerby Hall which is further up the cliff line you saw on the north beach. Sewerby is a lovely place to visit along with a look in the old town leading to the Priory church. Thank you for your views on our town, it is a big contrast to look at when the summer months come.
The concrete path in middle of the beach is a old sewage pipe, the red lamp at the end is a marker for boats to be aware. Also the red lamp at the end is a tidal marker for the boats to check for depth. there used to be one further down the beach. Lots more too see. The old town is a must so much history up there the building have plaques on them on in the windows to explain the history of the buildings, also in summer months they have tours of the gardens up there too well worth a visit, also a ghost walk in the evenings. At the bottom of the old town cross the road you’ll see a huge church called the priory it has the Bayle museum, the old gate house to the church which is very good we’ll worth a visit super old. Lots of pubs up there. Check out Danes Dyke for a good walk or stop off at Sewerby hall and gardens which also has a small zoo. Bempton cliffs RSPB up there is a must see!! Flamborough is a great place lots of beaches caves to explore. I’m summer the views are great. Just a small tip when in Bridlington try the Cafe at Boyes store in king street go to the top floor the views are great the food is nice.
The north beach is where you can find rock quartz crystals. The land jutting out to the sea is Flamborough head. Love Brid in winter. Not much open but u get the whole place to yourself mostly. Thank you for the memories.
Don't go in Winter. To see the real vibe of this town you need to come in Summer when it is totally buzzing yet still very charming. Most of the pleasure boats, land train etc . . . are seasonal but great in Summer. A trip on the legendary Yorkshire Belle pleasure boat is essential! On this you can see the beauty of the nearby white Flamborough and Bempton cliffs which are an unspoilt beauty to behold. Bring a bicycle and cycle from The South Cliff Holiday village right up to Sewerby - it is fabulous when the sun is shining, then lounge on those loungers next to the leisure centre. Brid isn't far short (if at all) of Scarborough for a great summer day out.
The statue was the Gansey Girl knitting a gansey jumper , traditional jumpers worn by the fishermen. A lot of Northern seaside resorts come under unfair attack due to their neglect but it's simply down to the fact we don't have the same government funding as our Southern counterparts. The money stays down South and the North inherits all the crap...that's the simple truth of it my friend. You can take boat tours to Bempton Cliffs where you'll see puffins in the wild 👍
I don't think the worst rated places I've been to have been bad. They seem just like any other seaside. Seeing the puffins in the wild would be pretty good!
Seaside resorts have around the same scale of tourism wherever you go around the coast in England and Wales, so I disagree with that opinion. On one hand, you have people complaining it's not what it was, and, on the other, someone else saying it doesn't get investment to redevelop everything.
We have to get out of the mindset that South gets everything. There are many deprived parts in London..Many seaside towns down South are deprived. These used to be good seaside towns, not now....Many other area's down South have become slums. Northerners seem to think that London and the South get everything. This is stereotyping. I used to live down South, London..So glad that I moved here to Brid
I go there regularly with my young son, he loves the amusements and i love seeing him enjoy himself, he likes the food bars and various icecream stands so it will always be a special place to me
As the advert used to say Bridlington the Bright one!. It’s a great town. A lot of people used to come here every year until the arrival of the cheap package holidays to Spain. In a time to come when prices go up astronomically people will flock back to Brid.
P.S. my grandkids love love love riding the landtrain. Thers one on the south beach too (in Summer). It goes to Sewerby hall with its gardens and small zoo.
Brid is a great place. I've been 3-4 times in the last couple of years. Don't forget you have Flamborough and Bempton to the North. Its also not full of arcades. Its a dog walkers paradise.
T.E.Lawrence(of Arabia fame) briefly lived here, more recently David Hockney owned a property here too(he actually drove the land train-not kidding). The 2016 Dads Army film featuring Catherine Zeta Jones was shot in the Old Town area of Brid, so if its good enough for them......
Apparently he was stationed there before WW2 while in the RAF air sea rescue service which kept a couple of rescue launches in the harbour. I remember the launches as a kid, they were withdrawn about 1960. Lawrence didn't billet with the other airman but in the HQ of the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Squadron next to the harbour which was a hotel at the time. It is said that one of the maids found a revolver in his room while going about her duties! A mysterious person indeed.
The seating is probably there because more old folk visit because Bridlington is flat. (easy walking into the town centre). The Bird is a Puffin which you will find at the R.S.P.B. centre at Bempton Cliffs near Flamborough Head with thousands of other sea birds.
I used to love Bridlington. It was a great fun place to visit. We went again 2 years ago in September, was very disappointed how much it has changed. It's sad that it was very rowdy, and dismal. However the amusements were great, and the cafe's served brilliant food and large portions. It just needs some doing up and Tlc!
I loved Bridlington so much as a child that I even lived back in 96/97 there for a year before moving back to Leeds best places to go for fish n chips is up in old town called Gabbys its where the locals go
It isn’t now. People in the Old Town go to Jacksons near the Priory. My favourite is Ship TonShore on Flamborough Road, great fish and chips at a really reasonable price.
I love Bridlington. All resorts look drab in winter. Bridlington South beach is clean and safe and the tide never comes right in so always plenty of dry clean sand to sit on. All the many toilets are clean and free. Better than those filthy ones at Whitby near the station where you have to pay 50p a visit
I’ve been going to Brid since I was a toddler,I’m 43 now and both Skegness and Brid are my favourite seaside places and of course Blackpool.Good video my man.👍
Those birds are Puffins. They nest a few miles away at Bempton cliffs. You can get boat trips from Bridlington to see the seabirds. I just stayed at Bridlington recently to see the puffins & other birds. Also, in recent years there have been bottle nosed dolphins: often swimming past Bridlington itself. Go back in the summer. I have seen the tide right up at the sea wall on the North beach.
I liked Bridlington, and the last time I went there, me and a friend did a coast and cliff walk from the holiday site of Primrose Valley, a few miles up the coast. Brid. was good, but like yourself, we went out of season, so most of the attractions were closed. But it was still a nice walk.
at the end of that cliff line is where our land joined Europe pretty much norway so you could have walked across their we call it doggerland we call the fishing area sea area dogger this area is steeped with history from battling war ships from america just off the coast you would be very surprised at the area from danes dyke to the smuggling caves for the pirates
4 mins in is one of the 42 puffins in a trail along the cost, this was pained by local artist Joy Verda and the children from New pasture lane primary school up in Old Town.
When did you go? looks like mid -winter. I go quite regularly. And don't forget Flamborough Head and the other places local. The concrete is on the South. Try the North!
Oh I didn’t realise 😯 it’s bad to think that sewerage could be going straight into the sea right on the beach but I think it might happen at other places too
I lived there for 35 years and brought my kids up there. Loved it. The people are lovely. There's always lots and lots of lovely walks. Its not always about the summer season and the 'front'.
Thanks for the video. Yes in winter it might look a little bit grey and rough. Never have been there. But I'm looking forward to it cause I'm going to visit it in May for Race the waves.
Really enjoyed this one. I’m down South, but this place looks great to me. The only moan I have is? The fish and chips lol. I need to get a portion. You set my fancy fish and chips off. Thanks 🙏 loved watching made me a tad nostalgic.
out of season in the past the Bridlington amusements were always open. They change the settings out of season so you get a much better deal on all the games.I know that as I used to repair arcade games for over 25 years.
I went to art college in Brid, back in 1989, as a fresh-faced sixteen-year-old (college was on West Street, so quite close to the beach.) I've a great many fond memories, the nightclubs of the time, the beach, the arcades, even the train station lol - I was never that social, bit shy, but still very few if any bad times!
Im from bridlington. When i heard you say the price for that fish and chips i went crazy! From where i go i could get 3x what you got for about the same price! Please try be more carefull some places are rip-offs
No I really don't know what people expect I've watched a few videos and believe me it doesn't deserve to be voted like that there's a lot more dodge seaside towns dad's army was filmed there beautiful cliffs there so they not many seaside towns have been made into a film
I played a world pool championship in the Spa about 20 years ago. Loved the place. Seaside towns are never great during the winter. Same here in ireland where im from
It didn’t used to be! They’ve spent a fortune trying to update Bridlington, only to make it worse. The old Brid I knew as a boy (1970s) was the best seaside to visit.
Looks to me as though it has been fillmed in the middle of winter when everything is closed. Not a fair View of what is a popular place. The waves and Sky alone show that.
“ Brid “ back in it’s day was known for great fish and chips, as well as it’s seafood. It was great for kids and Grandparents alike. It is a shame that these seaside towns are shutting down. I know you like working up North🤔. But if you love seafood? Have you tried Cromer? They have some of the best seafood I’ve ever tasted.
@@everydayimeating3407 The elastic catapult presumably goes around the boat. In any case I don't think you can 'go on it' which you generally do for fair rides, except maybe if you went in the boat when it was being 'launched'. I think you'd need to be official press to swing something like that, if it were possible.
The life boat until rather recently was housed up on the top opposite the spa, it was the last remaining ones that had to be pulled by tractor along a main road
It’s not a bad place for an hour or so but there isn’t much to do same as cleethorpes, Blackpool not bad if your adults having a pint.. skeggy not to bad.. scarbourgh has to be the best for the size of the place and things to do.. and Whitby for the scenery.. ( I am talking for me who travels just to the closest ones 😂)
South beach is lovely, the old town is charming and was used in the dads army film, flambrough head is beautiful and you can see wild seals in the coves and even dolphins if you are luck, dig deep, its better than 2p machines and fair ground rides.
Bridlington was fantastic in the 70’s and 80’s . Went there so many times as a kid with my family … it’s not the same. I think , for the most part, Britain has lost its identity. 😞
Brid' a nice place. doing its best. Struggles with empty shops and a cash-strapped local authority, as do so many of our towns. An abundance of B&B's which have been utilised to house otherwise homeless people with no decent support network put in place has also had an impact on the demographics of the place. Nevertheless its still a nice and interesting place to visit if you aren't a complete snob! There's a lovely ice cream parlour - Tophams, which has been around for decades and is still great for a wonderful, old-fashioned Knickerbockerglory. And a great wargaming store - Mighty Lancer Games - which is one of the best in the UK in my opinion. If only some of the deep rooted problems this country is facing were addressed (a proper, joined-up homelessness and housing strategy, and the oversuplly of retail premises), it, and many other seaside towns, would be absolutely unbeatable places to live and visit.
Bridlington Bridlington is the lobster capital of Europe and it's easy to see why. The town is home to a number of lobster fisherman who ply their trade in the harbour. There are also plenty of restaurants that serve up fresh lobster rolls and lobster bisques.
@@everydayimeating3407 In the video you ask the question what do you think of this, I thought you meant and I’m not going to quote it because I don’t have it in front of me, what do you think of the lobster sign, Obviously with something else that I missed. that said it is the 🦞 lobster capital of Europe, So definitely worth you reviewing that whole scene.
mmmm research would have gone a long way them coloured birds that you've asked about are puffin a few miles up the road we have a prehistoric cliff area Bempton and Flamborough and the puffin in the thousands come here to nest as i say research a little and in all fairness maybe you could asked a few questions to the people walking around
That's true I would love to live up there lovely clean air not very polluted beautiful scenery I live in the west midlands it's very polluted and very over crowded up there I call it heaven 😀😀😀😀😀😀
You should go see Santa in Australia, plon!. Who check a seaside town in tha off season to sea what its like. The only thing you did right was get Fish and Chips! You're just lucky to be in YORKSHIRE. You missed the nude beach?
Them worst rated seaside towns are bull. All the town with plenty to do like arcades and funfairs are low and those with none of these and just a beach are high. Clearly bias by those who prefer a quiet town
You should go again in summer - whilst it is "alive". It'll be good to see difference - maybe to see more as to why is was poorly voted. Looks like it could be a nice day out! Who knows!!😋
I live in in brid and to be honest there is some rubbish things like west hill which is closer in land and a lot of druggies live there. not saying that everyone there is a druggy but I've seen some houses that people have been evicted. the best place to go is the town and the promenade. If you never went to a panto at the spa at brid why, just why. and you could probably remember Santa coming down some roads if you lived in brid who always gays you a packet of Haribo's if you gave the charity like a quid. overall brid is a really good place and I don't know why is generally on the list. Also forum is a cinema, amusements and a bar and leisure world is a climbing place and a gym. if you ever visit you should always go Sewerby just up the coast from model village. The Sewerby park is good and you can stroll through the gardens but the zoo is just bad because of the animals. One time I saw a goat escape from its enclosure and it just stared dead into my eyes. Fun fact: Amy Johnson who was the first woman to fly from England to Austria was there at the grand opening of Sewerby hall and cut the ribbon the open the massive house. Jesus christ this took 30 minutes to write

Im from bridlington. When i heard you say the price for that fish and chips i went crazy! From where i go i could get 3x what you got for about the same price! Please try be more carefull some places are rip-offs
Where is the best fish and chip place in Bridlington?
I don’t think that’s a fair title for a lovely looking town!!
I agree! I though it was a nice seaside town
You took this video off season. In season the town is a lot brighter with the arcades open and a busy harbour.
Maby do a part 2 in summer holidays
I think i have to do this!
No I really don't know what people expect I've watched a few videos and believe me it doesn't deserve to be voted like that there's a lot more dodge seaside towns dad's army was filmed there beautiful cliffs there so they not many seaside towns have been made into a film
I agree, I liked it there!
I played a world pool championship in the Spa about 20 years ago. Loved the place. Seaside towns are never great during the winter. Same here in ireland where im from
Bridlington is a great place to visit, i like off season as its really busy in the summmer mo ths, its a vreat base for visiting the east cost
Used to drive there from pontefract all the time just to have fish and chips ❤
It didn’t used to be! They’ve spent a fortune trying to update Bridlington, only to make it worse. The old Brid I knew as a boy (1970s) was the best seaside to visit.
The birds are Puffins that nest at Flamborough
I worked at BUTLINS Filey and stayed in Bridlington in 1977 was great...
I did a video in Filey too and thought it was great! Going out onto Filey Brigg was a bit scary though!
Did you not see the elastic catapult. That's how they launch the Lifeboat. One hell of a ride so I hear! 😜😂
I must have missed it lol I would have definitely gone on it if I saw it! 😬
@@everydayimeating3407 😂😂
@@everydayimeating3407 The elastic catapult presumably goes around the boat. In any case I don't think you can 'go on it' which you generally do for fair rides, except maybe if you went in the boat when it was being 'launched'. I think you'd need to be official press to swing something like that, if it were possible.
The life boat until rather recently was housed up on the top opposite the spa, it was the last remaining ones that had to be pulled by tractor along a main road
Good video. I like how enthusiastic you seem. It is after all the little things that make the difference!
Thanks 😀 I think thats true!
@@everydayimeating3407 Who rated it as badly BTW? The 9th worst?
It was Which!
@@everydayimeating3407 Wow! I didn't realise they were opining on towns now. A good way to upset half your customers I would say.
That new path is a
sewage outlet from the town centre
Do Southport please as we visit it next weekend Air Show please 🙏
It’s a sewerage pipe that goes out to sea
Nice video. I've always thought Bridlington is very nice
I still thought it seemed like a good place 😀
I live in Bridlington and I thinks that’s extremely offensive
I didn't give it that rating. It was a Which! survey
This was enjoyable to watch only because the guy recording is cool
Thanks 😀
You have to hold the shower button it must be that way to save water
That makes sense lol
Good video. Thanks.👍👍👍
if a big wave came over at the top end of that slipway youd be gone mate
I was watching the waves pretty carefully
ace video, thank you
Bridlington is amazing I love it so much it's the best 👍💯
You've caught it at the worst possible time of year! Come back from between May and August and it might just change a few if your perceptions ✅️
I think that's Bridlington is not a worse Seaside Town in the UK, Cleethorpes, Mablethorpe, Skegness and Blackpool are.
Bridlington
Bridlington is the lobster capital of Europe and it's easy to see why. The town is home to a number of lobster fisherman who ply their trade in the harbour. There are also plenty of restaurants that serve up fresh lobster rolls and lobster bisques.
I did not know that. I will have to go back and try some if its not too expensive
@@everydayimeating3407 In the video you ask the question what do you think of this, I thought you meant and I’m not going to quote it because I don’t have it in front of me, what do you think of the lobster sign,
Obviously with something else that I missed. that said it is the 🦞 lobster capital of Europe,
So definitely worth you reviewing that whole scene.
Maybe do a live show where subscribers can donate to fund the trip.
I think I will in the future. Maybe if I get more subscribers lol

I’ve been binge watching your videos, I absolutely love them,
🦞
✌🏻👨🏻🦰✌🏻
it’s too hot here right now 😅😅
its a spa and the train is spring and summer
Always loved good old skeggy .must have been about 20 times .lovely place not the worst nooo..
mmmm research would have gone a long way them coloured birds that you've asked about are puffin a few miles up the road we have a prehistoric cliff area Bempton and Flamborough and the puffin in the thousands come here to nest as i say research a little and in all fairness maybe you could asked a few questions to the people walking around
We are not East Yorkshire🤮 or East anything. Our County is Humberside, 💘 just as Teesside is Teesside
Says east Yorkshire on all my post
Big blue bird, oh you mean a puffin!
They were loads of them around 😀
Unless you have been to every seaside in the UK ,how can make any kind of judgement ?
A litle tip for this turkey try visiting in the summer then get back to me .
It's a sewage discharge pipe.
and north beach is the other side of the marina
The path is a sea defence did you go to school
Brid is not worst seaside town
The biggest ways my family was high from them and my dad got splash and all of my family was 🤣🤣🤣
The seating/viewing areas today are concrete and glass where there used to be lawns, flowers and wooden benches. You choose?
Does Britain not have pressure washers
This place is soooohhh depressing
what did he expect to find in the lifeboat station a lifeboat doh!
Rude
Long concrete is probably the shit dispenser
to be fare never liked bridlington must be hard for locals work wise when summer season ends
I didn’t think it was that bad, similar to Skegness, Blackpool, Skegness etc
That's true I would love to live up there lovely clean air not very polluted beautiful scenery I live in the west midlands it's very polluted and very over crowded up there I call it heaven 😀😀😀😀😀😀
You should go see Santa in Australia, plon!. Who check a seaside town in tha off season to sea what its like. The only thing you did right was get Fish and Chips! You're just lucky to be in YORKSHIRE. You missed the nude beach?
The land train only runs when it's holiday season
Thats why it didn't come lol It would have been a long wait if I would have stayed
we found it ok in the summer
I need to go back in the summer when its in season and everywhere is open!
One of my favourite places aside from Blackpool 👍
I had a nice time in Bridlington!
@@everydayimeating3407 👍☺️
Them worst rated seaside towns are bull.
All the town with plenty to do like arcades and funfairs are low and those with none of these and just a beach are high. Clearly bias by those who prefer a quiet town
That path has sewage pipe within it.
You should go again in summer - whilst it is "alive". It'll be good to see difference - maybe to see more as to why is was poorly voted. Looks like it could be a nice day out! Who knows!!😋
Is this presenter the least prepared in the World ? Visiting out of Season and clueless
Bridlington is fabulous 👌
It took me 30 minutes to read lol 🤣
@@everydayimeating3407 lol 😂
I live on west hill and I can agree it’s packed with smackheads 😂😂
