    Guy, very useful tutorials! Your tutorials are models to how to explain! Congratulations! I've been learned a lot of Freecad! Thanks very much, and continue teach!

    Your tutorials on FreeCad are the best that I have found so far. However, it would be helpful if instead of telling us what you are going to build, you tell us what tools features you are going to use to build it.

    Nice video,
    but you should explain the math behind the model - how the blade angle is conected with pitch and so on...

    I am using FreeCAD 0.16, my output from About FreeCAD is:
    OS: Devuan GNU/Linux 2.1 (ascii)
    Word size of OS: 64-bit
    Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
    Version: 0.16.
    Build type: None
    Python version: 2.7.13
    Qt version: 4.8.7
    Coin version: 4.0.0a
    OCC version: 6.8.0.oce-0.17
    In this version the sketches are no longer visible in the Model column. I found using either the Array function in Draft or Duplication of the Sweep to work. I ended up with a 3D drawing the same but I am wondering whether what I achieved is secure, for example translation to a 3D printer or CAD mill instructions.

    Really good tutorials. I am just trying to learn FreeCAD but am interested in learning how to build an assembly. Do you have a tutorial using the Assembly2 workbench? Thanks.

    Hi, thanks for yet another great tutorial-lesson.
    Towards the end, you use the "part" toolbar instead of the "part design" to create a fillet/roundover. What is the difference? When would you recommend using the "part" and when would you recommend using the "part design" for creating fillets? The latter is seemingly more forgiving for changes to the model at a later stage, but does it have downsides?

      +Aditya Mehendale
      Well, as you said, the fillet-tool from Part-Workbench is more user friendly concernig input of different values and
      changing the values later.
      It seems also a good idea to apply fillets and chamfers not too soon on your model.
      I haven't noticed any real downsides.

    Thank you for the tutorials. How would you thin the edges of the blades while leaving them thicker in the middle?

    • @wantomek
      @wantomek 5 лет назад

      The rectangle may have a smaller height on the "outside". The edges of the rectangle do not need to be parallel.

    Thanks so much, great tutorials. I'''ve watched 7 lesson at row, it's time to practise. I''ve installed graphviz but when I click Dependency graph.. it told me "Graphviz couldn't be found on your system".

    Would you recommend using these kind of techniques as opposed to using draft polar array and the sorts to save up on memory?

    • @learnfreecad8264
      @learnfreecad8264  9 лет назад +2

      Anthony Assal
      Well, perhaps there is a small advantage in memory usage, but i see ONE BIG ADVANTAGE on using polar array.
      Applying changes to the geometry of the "master" blade will effect all three blades.
      It is unlikely that you would like to change only one blade ...
      (So we talk about reducing possible failures ...)

    Still don't get it - what's the use of "dependency graphs".

    I have an issue. I've screen shotted the issue imgur.com/a/xtECGLc which arises after I fillet the edges, but only occurs on one propeller. As far as I can tell, everything has been done correctly so far and the code seems to reflect that!

    Tried installing graphviz-2.38.msi a few times on win7 FreeCAD keeps saying "Graphviz couldn't be found on your system" is it in a mystery location that I just can't find or am I missing something. Instillation says it went well and second instillation asks if I want to "repair or uninstall". So it's definitely installing.

    • @learnfreecad8264
      @learnfreecad8264  7 лет назад +1

      I have also installed Graphviz 2.38 on Windows 7 64-bit. It is listed in "Program"-Group and can be found in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.38\bin\".
      Did you install as administrator ?
      If all went well FreeCAD should recognize Graphviz, see here for details:

    Why did you show us how to easily create 3 blades using the draft array, and then tell us not to do that, but instead to copy and paste? It seems to me that the draft array tool is much simpler?

    • @learnfreecad8264
      @learnfreecad8264  7 лет назад +1

      Maybe i did express myself clearly enough, sorry about that. You can use of course both ways. The advantage of the draft array tool is being paramteric. To make sure that the dimensions of COPIED blades would stay identical you would have to use expressions (available since 0.16 stable, see video about arduino case for more details).
