I always noticed it with Efra, goes more than reacting, its digging deep and expressing more of whats behind every song. He is spot on with bringing up the concept of storytelling behind the music that is why filipino music is thriving on social media.
The song is an anthem.. For pride.. For country.. For one's battle in life. SB19 'S songs are always with deep meaning. That's what's missing in pop music in general.. Positive messages and encouragement..

That guy when he’s explaining what this song is trying to show is bang right on. Good work. For me it’s more like an anthem song, like a rallying kind of beat. The transition’s a bit hardcore though.
It worked because of the rhetorical pause, "What?" between the pre-chorus and chorus. Like a way to hype the listeners too. I'm so excited when they perform it with a live audience.
WHAT? by SB19 is not just a song. It’s a lifestyle, it gets you out of bed in the morning, a cultural reset, it’s a way of life, the oxygen you breathe, a dream, an art form, a true love, everything you’ve ever wanted.

The whole video tells their story from the scratch to what they are now and what they can still do in the future. In the first part, they told us their story when they were bashed, discriminated and put down.Saddest part was when even the Filipinos did step down on them. They were even judged that they sound KPOP and there will never be a PPOP. They were in the news but didnt stop. They used those negativities around to pull positivities and courage to go ahead! I think JUSTIN is a dreamer.Looking at the Earth but blindfolded. Also maybe he represent people with mental disorder living their own world.STELL hold some seeds trying to tell us to dig and dig, plant something and in the future, there will be a plenty fruits.KEN is like a King in a throne made of junk.He said in the lyrics that he picked up and collected all the trash, and that lifted him up but he keeps telling us that even he has a power now,our feet should always be on the ground.JOSH in real life didnt have an education degree. But on his part he said we are all different but sometimes, those so-called educated people are the worse. And he wont pretend. He started taking off those fancy clothes because that will never define him and what he can do. The Dreamer JUSTIN finally took out the blindfold. Now he is ready to turn those dreams to reality.Seeds from STELL'S hand grew. From the scene when he was holding soil, raining and lightning like a storm,it changed into a clearer nature scene. Then there comes the part when they are in soldier costumes which has a resemblance of Generals during the old times in Philippines. An image of a General signifies courage, focus and determination. Those people they were trying to pass through are the bashers and those who didnt like them. But eventually the same people became their fans and they celebrate together with SB19s music. Then it sounds like it became an anthem telling us that yes,PPOP is real.We have our own sound, our music!Thats why Filipinos, let us all rise our flag! They represent our country but in a bigger picture, they used a flag with question mark which represent each of us to show us that everybody has his/her own fla g to raise. The music video shows what hope, courage, determination and GOD above can do!🔥💙. Ctto.
Wow.this you have completely exxplained well.and i added also to your explanation is we need to have courage to tell the world that we can do imposible makes posible..we need to get out of the box that prisoned us for a long time just like in our music...
Thanks for the explanation and I read in one of the comments, that military unform as you have said wore during Spanish time and during their song they made use of the word Bandera instead of watawat which they used in the first part
I like that observation, telling a story not just through visuals but through the song & sounds & rhythm. We’re not used to that kind of buildup but it’s so good!
We were blown away as well, tbh , when we watched this MV for the first time. All of those that you described...vocals..aesthetics, choreographies..were all the outcome of a Filo (Filipino) group collab. Sejun/Pablo the songwriter, Justin as the Creative Director, Josh/Ken/Stell choreography and vocals plus a dedicated team of award winning professionals have made this epic of a MV a reality. The main theme according to Pablo is all about Love and Empowerment. Love of self, country, roots and the sense of empowerment that you'd feel once you rise above the adversities as a result of that love. So much symbolisms depicted in here. Each of them represents the levels of society, and the props (metal garbage for Ken, Iron Maiden for Josh, Farm & Seeds for Stell, Space(confinement and release) for Justin) very well provided the message conveyed in the song by Pablo. And the flag? Could be a symbol of patriotism or oneself's experiences. This MV is an epic in itself and an anthem everyone has to hear. Thank you so much. I enjoyed your reaction to this MV. 💙
Whoa whoa whoa, I'm getting the hype that the SB19 fans were getting from this reaction!!! I think the analysis you did on the music was spot-on, especially the tempo and tune changes! A lot of folks are getting confused with the music transitions, so this was refreshing (and certainly was a pleasure) to watch! Thanks for reacting to our boys!
Here in Philippines, we have a lot of terms to call a thing with - one example is the flag, in Tagalog, you can call it "bandera" , "bandila" or "watawat". It may mean the same, the latter was just more formal.
@@kevinarellano2681 Tagalog is the pure language of tagalogs. Filipino is the national language based from it and incorporates loanwords from other languages both foreign and local

A lot of people still doubt us, denouncing everything that we do and everything that we're trying to achieve. We love what we do, that's why we do it respectfully. ‘What?’ is about self-love and empowerment. Each of us has our own flag. We should be proud of it and raise it as much as we can. As SB19 and as individuals, we know that we're not the best at everything, but that shouldn't stop us from what we want to achieve
The actual producer of this song made a behind the scenes video on how it was created on his channel. Here's the RUclips video title: "HOW I PRODUCED THE #1 SONG IN THE COUNTRY! SB19 - WHAT? BREAKDOWN!" I hope you guys get to react to it to see how much went into the making of the song itself and how much creative freedom Pablo was given to co-produce it :) And here's the title of a Behind The Scenes of a Film Crew member :) "SB19 WHAT - BEHIND THE SCENE FILM CREW EDITION Part 1"
I also think it'd be interesting to see them react to the producer's video because it seems like the sort of thing they often wonder about and discuss in videos about other songs, like some of the decision making and what influences are in it. Plus, they can hear some of the vocals with just a guitar, and there's talk about what percussions were used. At some point "Reggaeton" was mentioned and I thought about this channel among all the many reaction channels.
I always go back to your SB19's reactions. If you are interested in knowing the behind the scenes, you can check out their channel. You'll be surprised. Literally blood, sweat, and tears from the boys. So proud of them.
I love how you impress the mv of what, trivia on the dush that u can see on the set is not just a simple dush.its a lava from volcanic erupt way back in 1990..and the location itself is also the lost town coz of eruption..the map that they used in last part is the real murillo velarde map we used to protecting the property of the spratly island to china.

Its about them.. we don't need bullet's to raise our flag cu'z we have them... (But of course we need bullet to defend our country if someone tries to seize us")😌
I like how you breakdown the song. True, their songs tell stories. Their lyrics are always deep and meaningful. And sakalam is actually a malakas spelled backwards which means strong.
I was sipping coffee when I watched this RV and I almost spit it when I heard my dear Efra say "Sakalam".. he's too cute.. By the way, "Sakalam" is like a street word for "Malakas" which means STRONG.. hehe anyway, he's cute.
What's good with SB19 is that they are very hands-on with what they want to achieve in terms of the message of the song, it's production quality and how people would perceive it in and outside the fandom. They really are passionate with their craft. It's not just a random MV but rather a work of art that conveys different messages of what the society has to go through during these times. SB19 Leader, PABLO wrote the song and co-produced it with Sir Simon and his brother Joshua Nase. JUSTIN their maknae or youngest member is the Creative Director for this MV along with the help of ChaptersPH. STELL, the main vocal, also did the choreography in partnership with Sir Tank. JOSH and KEN also added up intricate details in the whole shooting process. As you can see, they don't just sing and dance. They put their hearts into making genuine and precious works of art. It makes me love them even more. 💙 Our PPOP Kings 👑👑👑👑👑
Of all foreigners reacting SB19 What?, you guys really did understood the meaning behind the song base on musicality and visually. Indeed the composition of What is amazing!

Woah, napaka matang lawin din nila..detailed sila magbigay ng feedback. Loved it! Knowledgable talaga sila sa music, thankyou for reacting and appreciating their new song po.😊
OMGGGGG I WAS WAITING FOR YOU!! We are expecting an album. Justin, the youngest member, was the creative director. Pablo, the leader, wrote the song. Also, Simon Servida, the music producer released a video in his channel the process of how he, along with Pablo's directiob, made the song. Flag could be "bandera", "bandila" or "watawat".
They really are one of the best reactors here in yt. They always discuss the technical parts of every reaction they do. They appreciate the art and the hardwork put in the making of the videos they react on, they really deserve more subs than that one reactor (u know him u guys lol shh) he just focuses on how much he hate makeup on men lol.
SB19's leader Pablo told about "What?": "A lot of people still doubt us, denouncing everything that we do and everything that we're trying to achieve. We love what we do, that's why we do it respectfully. 'What?' is about self-love and empowerment. Each of us has our own flag. We should be proud of it and raise it as much as we can. As SB19 and as individuals, we know that we're not the best at everything, but that shouldn't stop us from what we want to achieve."
Finally. Been waiting for this. I totally agree with you guys, especially when Efra pointed out how the music itself tells a story. Personally, I had the same observation too when it comes to the music. Besides the visuals of the music video and the lyrics, the song is also telling a story through the flow of the beats and the changes in the tempo. It's like plotting a story or watching an entire film just by listening to this song. There was an opening scene, the build up of game-changing scenes (both the rap parts, melodic parts, and the chorus), and then we have the build up of the climax (after the dance break part), and the finale (last chorus with the high notes and all the adlibs that made it more like an ending of a story where the protagonist has finally won the battle) . I'm glad that you guys also noticed the correlation of how the music fits the lyrics and the visuals. Btw to answer Waleska's question, it took them 3 days to shoot this music video. Some of the scenes were really shot at night.
I wasn't expecting such clever thoughts specifically about the rhythm changes, and that really inspires me to keep improving as a producer. 💕 from Portugal

I was sipping coffee when I watched this RV and I almost spit it when I heard my dear Efra say "Sakalam".. he's too cute..
By the way, "Sakalam" is like a street word for "Malakas" which means STRONG.. hehe anyway, he's cute.
one of the best reactor ,,, you understand message a lottt
One of the best reactors unlike someone who reacts to talk about how they were wearing make-up✨

I'm a fan now. Nice reaction mam and sir ❤️

Best reaction video I watched. Critical and facts.
Watawat or bandera is flag. Love your reactions always!!!👏👍❤❤
Of all foreigners reacting SB19 What?, you guys really did understood the meaning behind the song base on musicality and visually. Indeed the composition of What is amazing!
This reactors are my fave, thankyou sp much for reacting sb19's MV.
right analysis
every detail of what? mv has a deep meaning
it is not just all about having a great visual for the mv
most of their scenes reflects the life of every filipino (or even foreign country) in the present and in the past
Your reactions are the best!!!!🥺🥺💖💖
Woah, napaka matang lawin din nila..detailed sila magbigay ng feedback. Loved it! Knowledgable talaga sila sa music, thankyou for reacting and appreciating their new song po.😊
Wow you really are good at connecting the puzzle...good 😁😁🥰🥰
OMGGGGG I WAS WAITING FOR YOU!! We are expecting an album.
Justin, the youngest member, was the creative director.
Pablo, the leader, wrote the song.
Also, Simon Servida, the music producer released a video in his channel the process of how he, along with Pablo's directiob, made the song.
Flag could be "bandera", "bandila" or "watawat".
ive been waiting for these reactions of yours sir and madame im very happy for your reaction..please react for WHAT The Making..thank you
A"tin here
Hi there! This is an A’tin(SB19 fandom) from Jeddah, KSA.
A new subscriber!
Thank you for this reaction.
More sb19 vids please!
God bless!
Its in 4k super HD... cinematic production... the producer really put money on this.... great reaction as always ... hands down!
Hands down to this Duo! 🙌 They are the most attentive reactors and they even interpret the song on point. 👌🏻🔥❤
Legit reactors, I feel like I'm watching a talkshow and not a vid reaction, I enjoyed it. keep it up
It's like a short film indeed and the song is like the official musical score. You are one of my fave reactors so far.
Yours is he best reaction guys!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Right on point analysis, Efra! You're an artist indeed.
Thank you for this video! More sb19 reaction videos please 💛
I really love this reactors very genuine 😍😍😍
I wasn't expecting such clever thoughts specifically about the rhythm changes, and that really inspires me to keep improving as a producer.
💕 from Portugal
WHAAAAAAAT? I'M GOING CRAZY! 🔥👏👏👏
WOW!!! THIS IS SO LIT!! Thank you for supporting SB19
On point commentary on the rhythm and musicality of this song! 👌
WHAT? Digital Single and the Extended Version.
Efra, the producer Simon Servida showed us the breakdown of this. Making beats.
I. Agree with you that. WALESKA. AND. EFRA. WAS. THE . BEST. REACTOR. ILL ever. View.. ..FOR. THIS. SB19 WHAT! She. Was. Analysis g. The. Though of the. Song! And. Explain it.
Thank you for supporting Filipino Artist. proud Pinoy here! Supporting SB19 :)
I really love how you react every detail very on point especially efra
Their leader, Pablo, who happens to compose their songs as well, is a fan of wordplay. Watawat, paawat are words that happen to rhyme with "What❓".
I think what really amazes me is the proper amount of diversity they were able to incorporate here. Just the perfect recipe. Theres always surprise in so many aspect. Plus those small details gives it so much flavor.
I agree that the live performance will be so dope when the live audience can also vibe with the beats of the song
As usual...love your in depth reaction.....how you go through the totality of the concept...shows your genuine appreciation for tge artists you react to!!!....again love you two!
Exactly! I mean so far in my opinion, you're the only one clearly interpreted the reason of using this kind of rhythmical change according to what intensity the message would want to bring. Others may say that the melody is like all over the places, but come on, they are indeed telling a story and so their music. I kinda looking for the words how to explain it and thanks for this ❤️
Detailed reactions. Good job to both of you.
They are now nominated at BBMA
My fave reaction video of WHAT. I love how both of you explained the rhythm, words, story, costume and make up all contributing to the essence of the song.
I love how they explained everything on how they give their reactions.
Best!

What I like about this reaction is they hit some details correctly. They tried to dissect and not just watched.
And yes, FLAG can be called WATAWAT, BANDERA, BANDILA in Filipino.
Hoping for your Reaction to SB19 PAGSIBOL EP ALBUM ,
SAKALAM when you reverse it it's MALAKAS in english STRONG...
You are intelligent reactors and true artists because by just first time watching it you understand what the songs means. :)
