To this day I can not believe that Nissan did not homologate a rear spoiler for the Skylines, they could have won everything back then with more rear downforce.
But Nissan were spending everything on the GTR development at the time, and the Skyline was just an interim car, but gee, just a rear spoiler FFS ...
Rouse no helping Johnson with the 'Ford Works' parts was the best thing that ever happened for Johnson, went his own development path, and ended up with the fastest Sierras in the world. Long story short, Johnson had to go with a heavy 9" Ford diff with casing and driveshafts by Ron Harrop (Aus), and heavy gearbox by Holinger (Aus), and when they reached 600+hp later, Johnson's homologated parts could withstand 600-650hp, while Rouses developed 'Ford Works' parts diff and gearbox could only take 550hp maximum, big win for Dick and Australia!

No one was more proud of the development that Ch.7 in Sydney put into Racecam than Mike Raymond.

I just love the style of the M3 BMW. I will always call Jim Richards the Master.

To think the Sierra's didn't have "enough grunt". That soon changed!

The start shows just how much safety has changed since 1987. There were still mechanics and what looks like promotional grid girls trying to get back into the pits ... and still on the track, as the race started.

I remember this well. I was hearing the warning siren going off and going "what the bloody hell are all you idiots still wandering around the track for?" Utter madness. A bit like the start of the 1981 Belgian GP. People and cars just don't mix well on a racing circuit. Just ask Tom Pryce and Frederick Jansen van Vuuren. Oh wait, you can't.
