I have bought these on your recommendation. Thanks for the review. I trust your opinion more than the usual RUclips reviewers who always declare a new release as the latest and greatest. They always end up contradicting themselves. I'm sure you know whom I'm referring to... It's a shame you have to buy the headset's yourself. Companies would appreciate your review style and should start providing you with products for review. I'm guessing the occasional F bomb limits the reach of your videos. Keep 'em coming, but perhaps add a bleep. I would like to see you review more products.
i just ordered those tonight and will see who is king between the delta 2, atlas air, and pulse elite! i love planar headsets they sound so good, i returned the maxwell because of the weight 518g is no joke after an hour. Best sounding headset iv tried out of 17 or so but i just cant ignore the weight.
Great review, i agree with all of it. Also the bluetooth 5.2 codec is LC3+ its an open source high bandwidth LDAC is closed source, LDAC still has more bandwidth but...LC3+ is good enough and i would be hard pressed if anyone can notice a difference from the 2.4ghz connection while playing the same music video on RUclips. Your phone also has to support the codec! Superb implementation, most brands use SBC that sounds awful! Only gaming headset on Bluetooth that sounds better is Audeze Maxwell because they use LDAC and planar drivers. So boys and girls this is real quality and probably the best tuned headset out of the box with no EQ, speaking on EQ...any setting you change in the software will save to the headset, so you are good to go on console! To avoid unwanted pressure on the top of your head, adjust them alittle bigger than you normally would so the kinda float. I have felt worse...yeah im looking at you 518g Maxwell lol. All these companies going forward need to pay attention to mic quality because i for one wont buy it if its trash!
Mic quality is really great compared to all the other wireless gaming headsets out there. Hopefully some 3rd party will make a headband cushion replacement. Really great product though. Man if they had a open back version of these too that would be sweet. Great review!
Eh don’t sweat it buddy. There’s always something “better” around the corner. Get good use out of what you got until it doesn’t suit your needs anymore and by then there will be plenty of new and improved products to choose from.
love your in depth reviews! love my H6pro open headphones but subbed and used the comfy memory gel foam back when sennheiser sold earpads for the GSP600 series
Nice review man which is better for fps include warzone and bo6 astro a50x/ gen 5 or the rog delta 2 in enemy imaging and feeling the footsteps ?! Thank in advance for the beautiful content
Great review, I'm tempted. I am interested to know your thoughts on the Alienware Pro wireless and how they perform on PS5. Techne & Gadgetry tech claim you can't adjust the volume via the Alienware Pro wireless on PS5, which is a deal-breaker for me. Are they just being dumb and not setting up the headset on PS5? I need your review.
Probably another headset that just has incredibly low volume on the PS5. It's been on my watch list since it was announced. I've tried so many that are great with the exception of the low volume.
Microcenter. It seems like brand new Asus peripherals start out only on Newegg and Microcenter. Had to get my Keris II Ace from Newegg during the first few weeks it was out.
so because the volume wheels are digital that probably means you can't adjust the volume in wired mode, that sucks. I like the design of this headset and the battery life but it doesn't seem to offer much more than Barracuda X for 80 USD. it should at least have ANC. I wish I could hear how it sounds like before ordering. I will wait for price drop for sure
Okay, so the A50 Gen 5 is now available. You mentioned that the Delta 2 has similar sound quality to the A50X. Considering the A50 Gen 5 now supports a maximum of 16-bit audio, is it worth considering as a competitor to the Delta 2? As for the Delta 2 itself, do the EQ and microphone settings save to the headset/dongle and can I use them on my PS5? Will I be muted on the console's voice chat when I answer a phone call?
@ i mean the logitech is 50 bucks cheaper here and if its not that big of a difference in sound and its a little bit more comfortable maybe its the better pick for me
100% best sounding headset iv found for this price tag! only thing that beats them is the audeze maxwell for 300 plus tax...but i personally returned them because 518g does not feel good on your head
@@Amp_Edition yeah i had maxwells and returned them back for pulse 3d which i found very good. I have it for 4 years. This Asus headset clamps a lot? How is the bass ?
@HiCZoK very lite camp force and why I love it. Bass is clean and accurate 👌 i heard no distortion at full volume, it's tuned to the harmon curve. It's the best tuned headset straight out of the box in my opinion. I mean if you are a bass head it might no be for you, but you can still add bass with EQ, I never felt like it was lacking. I used to be a bass head but over the years seen that it will muddy up the track, bleeds into the mids and can't hear details as well. Don't get me wrong it's not like they don't have bass, the headset it's just balance very well. Also it's bluetooth is incredibly good! Second best to the maxwell that has LDAC, delta 2 has LEC+ that is a high bandwidth codec like LDAC. You can have a song on RUclips playing on the PC, pause it and play a song also from RUclips on your phone and it will sound identical. Most manufacturers use sbc codec because the chips are cheaper! Asus knocked it put of the park, 110hr battery life with (rgb off) is accurate. I played like 7 8-12hr sessions before I plugged them in for a charge and still had 20% lol. Any change you make to the mic, side tone, EQ saves to the headset so if you take it console you still got your personal sound! Not great for Xbox, this headset is for everything but that.
can you elaborate on the sound a bit please ? Volume level ? is it loud ? or too quiet like 80% of gaming headset ? bass quality ? how is it ? do it crackle or pop with Dolby enable like the full of crap overpriced maxwel ? hows the immersion? surround ? tested with dolby atmos? etc other than that, good video thanks
Sure thing. Volume level is great. Gets plenty loud compared to something like the TB Atlas Air which IMO didn't get nearly loud enough. Bass quality is nice and punchy if you want it to be, but you can tone it down in the software too. Armoury Crate has a "bass boost" option which I actually really enjoy on low levels for games like Space Marine or Cyberpunk. I did not use any digital surround sound because I despise it compared to stereo. At the end of the day you've got to hear it for yourself, but over the last 6 months or so I have used a lot of headsets. Great audio: Astro A50X, Logitech Pro X 2, Asus ROG Delta II, TB Atlas Air. Good audio: HyperX Cloud III, Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed, Razer Kraken V4 & V3 Pro. I haven't used anything I would outright call bad audio, but everything I just mentioned is in the $150 and up range so it better be solid.
Kind of depends on whether you prefer open or closed back audio, but overall I would say the Delta II is hands down the better product. It wins in build quality, materials, ear cushion size/shape, microphone quality, and software without a doubt. There is no denying the Atlas Air can be a comfortable headset if you can handle the circular ear cushions, and I never experienced any real discomfort while using them.
I’m confused between Asus Rog Delta II and Razer black shark V2 pro , since you have used both the headsets can you suggest me which one is better in terms of sound quality and crisp and clear mic and which one should I go for ? It’s my first time buying a gaming headset so I want to buy the best one , would be really great if I could get a response .
So I actually just have the regular Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed, not Pro. But between those two, there is no comparison; I think the Delta II blows it out of the water in every category.
I currently have the A50 Gen 4, how "open" or "airy" is the Delta II? One thing I really like about the A50s is that they are closed back but the earpads are very open and leak sound in and out. I recently tried the Audeze Maxwell but the weight of it and the isolated feeling of it made me return them. I'm not a fan of earpads, especially those leatherette ones, that fully isolate you, it builds pressure in my inner ear which is uncomfortable or even painful to me. So I'm wondering how the Asus compares, especially with the fabric pads on it.
I have the A50X. If the fabric ear cushions are the same between the Gen 4 and the X, then I can tell you the Astro's are a lot more airy than the fabric ones on the Delta IIs. If you are interested though, they just announced the new A50 Gen 5. $300, same drivers, same everything as the X but the base station will be a bit different. I think those will definitely be worth taking a look at.
@@MercuryTV Thanks for the answer! I saw the Gen5s, might take a look at them. From what I heard, earpads of Gen4, 5 and X should be the same. How much do the fabric pads on the Delta II isolate you? I hate that pressure from most closed back with leather earpads.
I’d say it’s somewhere between a leatherette and those A50 fabric ones. Very similar to the Steelseries Airweave fabric if you’ve ever used that. You can hear yourself but it’s muffled, which is why the mic monitoring is so clutch. Nothing has beat the A50X yet though for clarity in terms of ear cushion material + side tone for me.
its the bomb and if you dont like the isolation, turn on the side tone to hear your voice and some of the environment around you, i choose the cloth when wearing them.
I am a PC & PS5 mostly FPS gamer would this be the headset to get if I prioritize Mic quality, Simultaneous Bluetooth & Wireless? or would Blackshark V2 Pro, HS80 be just as good? A50x look the best but way too expensive for how much I want to spend.
I had the blacksharks they were great but they have a QC issue that a little piece of plastic pops off the headband, had it happen twice and warranty replacements were sent to me twice. Amazon is riddled with reviews with the same issue, so I sold mine after the 2nd replacement and bought these Asus rog delta II and have no regrets
Bit late, but i had both the razer and the corsair. The razer blackshark had pretty annoying white noise, so it was unusable for me, the hs80 has a great mic, i think even better then the delta 2 but the sound quality and battery life isnt that good imo, so i would go for the delta 2
I saw someone report on the ROG forums that after 5-10 seconds of no sound, the headset seems to go idle such that when the sound resumes again, there is a fade-in effect where the first 0.5 - 1 second of the resumed sound gets cut off. Can you confirm if this happens on your set? Would like to know if this is a widespread issue or even something intentional by Asus (like how it is with the Audeze Maxwell), as this would be an absolute dealbreaker for me.
Hey - just tested this out multiple times, with both the standalone USB-C wireless receiver and with the little USB-A to USB-C adapter and it absolutely does NOT happen. I actually do have this issue with my desktop speakers (Edifier S350DB) because I have to use this little Cubilux USB to Optical adapter. Now THAT causes a delay in sound coming through when it starts playing again after no output, but I have thankfully never seen (or heard) that issue on a gaming headset I own.
Thanks for testing! This issue exists on the Audeze Maxwell (and it seems intentional on Audeze’s part based on their response to countless threads on this topic) and it caused me to return it. Was strongly considering the Delta II until I saw the ROG forum post on a user experiencing this issue on his headset. Glad to know it doesn’t seem widespread!
@@MercuryTV Hey and thanks for the review, I'm the one @jordant9754 was reffering too relating to that issue, and I just rested it again and still notice this delay when resuming sound after 7-10+ seconds on both my PC and my Android phone. Just to confirm, did you update your Delta II to the latest firmware (00.03.06.00)? I just did that out of the box so it might be just a firmware issue .
I have not updated it, no. I got the notification asking me if I want to and I declined. Might chalk it up to that. I think on the box it says you can factory reset by holding the function button on the left ear cup for 15 seconds. Did you try that yet? Don’t know if it would roll back firmware though.
@@MercuryTV I received this notification as well and thought, why not update it? After trying, unfortunately, holding the button for 15 seconds only reset the RGB lighting I had turned off and reactivated the Bluetooth I had disabled, but it did not revert the firmware to the factory version. It's disappointing I didn't think to test it before the update, but I'll wait for confirmation from ASUS staff to see if it's merely a firmware issue. The fading seems too "clean" and more like a power-saving feature (it always happens after 10 seconds without sound) to be a hardware problem.
Dont know how long you've been doing this but I just started watching your stuff Very Good content. Great review but I dont understand how you can compare their sound quality to the A50x. When I first got the Astro''s they were 90% as good as my Audeze Maxells, then I put Leatheret ear cushions on them and they BLEW AWAY my maxwells! something I never thought would happen. Anyway I do like the Rog Delta 2 but there bass is handycapped by the absence of the 32hz and 64hz eq frequency sliders and I don't thing their sound quality is anywhere near the A50x, guess different ears hear different things. Anyway keep up the good work.
@@xrhythmsx Haha, you have no Idea what an ocd audio freak I am, I have tuned them not for hours or days but for months...ya like 18months and have tried the different ear cushions and all. I got them when they launched and went through 2 pairs and am now on my third after wrinkled membranes from all the testing! What you are not aware of is the maxwells are no longer the original maxwells! The first gen were great, which I assume you have, however some months back they changed manufacturing facilities from china to Vietnam at a cheaper rate im sure (and yes I know the drivers are made in california). Before, I had to use the volume limiter to run Atmos as it would clip horribly if not. Now I have to turn the limiter OFF and increase slider values in a struggle to get the punch and slam I use to get with the originals only to be met with bad 32hz distortion. The bass is severely handicapped and the overall sound is weak. Better take care of the originals because your not getting them again!
@@xrhythmsx Also l'll bet your talking about the Astro A50 NOT the A50 X because the new X models with the Graphene drivers and 24bit processing are Night and Day Better than the original A50, then when you replace the sound bleeding fabric pads with leatherette pads and and it is yet ANOTHER night and day difference! All that 32hz to 250hz bass gets trapped in the leatherette and and the only escape is your EARDRUM! Just so you know I have tested these against the the all new TB Stealth 700 gen3, all new Asus ROG Delta II, all new Razer Kraken v4 all these just launched in Sep 2024, all these in addition to the Audio Technica ATH-G1WL and my $450 Master & Dynamic MG20 with beryllium drivers so I know something about audio gear, and yes The A50 X spanks them all!
@@xrhythmsx As far as highs go, the simple fact these things get so loud in ALL frequencies, and in conjunction with their 24bit processing, there really is no lack in any spectrum unlike the original A50 with recessed highs. As far as imaging is concerned I have two answers: 1) Audio measuring instrument reports you can find online state that both "Group Delay" (Can be measured from a single channel) and "Phase Response" (Measured Left channel against Right) are both very average, so better than Maxwell but nowhere near the precision that the Nova Pro Wireless and Stealth Pros are measuring at. Answer 2) As far as my Very human ear is concerned I cannot not tell the difference in imaging quality between my Maxwells and Nova Pro wireless and A50 X, they all sound just fine to me as far as image reproduction, your mileage may very. You have heard all the jargon like "Nanoclear Drivers", "Eclipse Drivers" and" Tri-Force Drivers" well thats all just marketing BULL$HIT! But Graphene seems to be the Real Deal, apparently it is one the the rare materials on earth that is only one Atom thick and is thus 2-dimensional in our 3-dimensional world, it is so thin it is transparent, it is stronger than steel and has a Rockwell hardness exceeding a diamond! All this amounts to being able to shoot tremendous amounts of voltage through them with no apparent driver flexion or distortion! I honestly believe Graphene is the future. The Logitech g Pro X2 do have Graphine drivers but their 16bit processing (DVD quality) vs the A50 X 24bit processing (Studio Quality) is not as finely detailed as the Astro's. Yes I know that 16bit vs 24bit is not the End All argument with so many other variables and contributing factors, but when your comparing apples to apples (Logitech owns both companies and puts Graphene Drivers in both) then yes...the 24bit apple just sounds better.
If you're satisfied with the ROG Delta and are considering a wireless option, it's a good choice! I upgraded from the ROG Delta to the Delta II myself, and the sound quality is comparable. The main reason for my switch was the desire for a wireless headset.
If we're talking purely audio quality - maybe. But in terms of a gaming headset? I would say absolutely not. The Delta II's have an amazing microphone, the Pro X 2 has a horrible one. The Delta II's have simultaneous Bluetooth, the Pro X 2 has to be toggled.
@@MercuryTV you know every of this stuff, you should make one, Well my question is could i change a mic detachable for another, I've got the Logitech g pro x wireless, but now the mic is meh when it's charging idk why . You think i could change that with another mic ?
Might be a bit until I get another pair of gaming headphones to test out. Been going pretty hard lately and don’t have very much disposable income at the moment, but I will add them to the list.
@MercuryTV I get you. I got like 9 headsets myself, way more than I need. Lol. Check out the blue 700s if you take a look at them. The design looks way better than the previous and I don't think they squeeze your eyeballs out with the clamp force either 🤣

Anyway keep up the good work.
you must be high lol, nothing is better than the maxwells. You are not tuning them correctly, and most certainly not the astros.
@@FuryonKnight what about the highs and imaging ? Are the astros better ? Do the astros sound better than the Logitech g2 pros ?
Is it worth the upgrade over the orginal Asus Rog Delta headphones?
If you're satisfied with the ROG Delta and are considering a wireless option, it's a good choice! I upgraded from the ROG Delta to the Delta II myself, and the sound quality is comparable. The main reason for my switch was the desire for a wireless headset.
And how does it compare with the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless?
@@jean-marcazzi i don't have that, i used rog delta for 3 years and got the delta II today
so wait are the logitech better ?
If we're talking purely audio quality - maybe. But in terms of a gaming headset? I would say absolutely not. The Delta II's have an amazing microphone, the Pro X 2 has a horrible one. The Delta II's have simultaneous Bluetooth, the Pro X 2 has to be toggled.
You have a discord or something?
No man I'm a pretty big scrub still. Maybe one day.
@@MercuryTV you know every of this stuff, you should make one, Well my question is could i change a mic detachable for another, I've got the Logitech g pro x wireless, but now the mic is meh when it's charging idk why . You think i could change that with another mic ?
He is joking he has one lol@@alessandro8107
😮
I'm interested to hear what you think of the new TB stealth 700 gen 3 that just came out so I'm hoping you do those next
@@MercuryTVdon’t waste your money on the 700 Gen 3s! Absolute trash!! Atlas Airs sound so much better!! About to return the Gen 3s back for the Atlas Airs!
