I don't know if these two count but what surprised me about Power Rangers is that two of its voice actors, Dan Southworth and Jonny Yong Bosch, would later be in Devil May Cry as Vergil and Nero respectively

I love how Christian Bale goes into his Batman voice in the dream. Of course, there are several big name stars that voiced Miyazaki films. You could probably do a whole list of them.

Howls Moving Castle is my favorite and that was before I realized he was the voice actor and it made sense cause Christian Bale is one of my top favorite actors!! Also easy on the eyes 🤭😏

It's not a coincidence. Batman Begins and Howl's Moving Castle's dub were both being made around the same time (2004).
I remember reading somewhere that he did the dream Howl voice first and realized that it made more sense for Batman to talk in a growl than to use Bruce Wayne's speaking voice.
Great list! Kirsten Dunst was also the English dub of Kiki in "Kiki's delivery service." If you make a list of surprising tv voice performances, please include Adam Lambert as the Devil in the series "a tale dark and Grimm!" He was just fantastic! I rank it right up there with Mark Hamill's Joker voice!
This must be why Vin Diesel was cast as Groot in Guardians Of The Galaxy
I was thinking the same thing. He fit so well as Groot despite only saying a total of 4 different words throughout the entire film.
I only realized recently of this. I enjoyed The Iron Giant, and the fact that he lent himself for that is a pleasant surprise!☺️
I had no idea Keaton played both Ken AND Chick Hicks.
The most shocking ones to me were Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde on Zootopia, because I watched it at around the time I first started watching Ozark, and also pretty much everyone who was in Sing 2.
The voice acting performances of these actors did more than just bring these characters to life, they made these character absolute legends! and there's no way any other voice actor could give these characters the same level of personality as their originals did!
The fact that Rosa Diaz and Mirabel Madrigal are played (and/or voicedover) by the same person outright shocks me to this day

The most surprising voice acting I consider in an animated movie is Joseph Gordon-levitt as Jim Hawkins in treasure planet

So many people seem to have forgotten that Kiki was voiced by Kristen Dunst in the original VHS release of Kiki's Delivery Service.
The biggest surprise was looking it up just now and realizing Lacey Chabert sang the one singing line for young Anastasia!

Y’all should do a Studio Ghibli round of this!! There are so many good actors that voice in the dubbed versions and they are some of the best movies ever made!! That would be awesome! And Christian as Howl will always be #1 in my book as it’s my favorite of the movies and Christian is one of my top favorite actors!! Great video as always! 🤗🫶🏻

Like everyone else I was so shocked when I found out Christian was Howl, he does such a good job though!
My number 1 will always be Scott Weinger (aka Aladdin) as Atlas in the English dub of Metropolis. I watched the whole movie going “I swear I KNOW this voice!”
None of the listed choices surprised me at all. I recognized every single one almost immediately. And casting wise, the voices really worked with the characters.
Voice acting is my dream in my years of being a true adult. What surprised me the most was Bruce Willis as Spike from Rugrats Go Wild. This was way before he had a problem with his health meaning a condition that affected his Central Nervous System.
10:00 “A-listers tackling the beast of english dubbibg” is actually the norm for the english dubs of Studio Ghibli movies - which, in addition to Bale, have seen the likes of Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Liam Neeson, Billy Crystal, Willem Dafoe, Tom Holland, Emily Blunt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and many more lending their voices to Miyazaki’s movies.
I was truly surprised when I learned Joaquin Phoenix voiced Kenai. He was amazing in the film and a great voice actor, kinda wish he would've done more. Tom Hiddleston also truly surprised me, also I love that Howl is voiced by Batman.
Personally, I think Bruce Willis demonstrates his vocal range just a bit better as RJ in Over the Hedge. He’s such a different character than his usual output (though the choice on this list is also good)

I half expected Frank Welker or Peter Cullen to be the Iron Giant. I mean come on, They brought us Megatron and Optimus Prime, two of the most iconic characters ever.

I JUST learned this! I know him from Walk The Line, Her, Joker, Gladiator, and now I learn he played a Disney character?😱 His roles are always intriguing, and his range is 👌🏻.

Michael Keaton and Jodi Benson as Ken and Barbie are some of my favorite Toy Story performances, and that’s saying something! Those movies have stellar casts.

Bruce Willis had already proven his ability to act in drama roles from ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Unbreakable’, and he was also known for comedic roles before ‘Die Hard’.
Kirsten Dunst as young Anastasia isn’t exactly surprising given that it was 3 years after her first film ‘Interview with a Vampire’, and she wasn’t much older when she was in ‘Jumanji’.
I first heard Kirsten as the voice of Kiki from "Kiki's Delivery Service". I thought Martin Short voiced Sikes in "Shark Tale".

When I wtched "Shrek" in German, I ws surprised by the voice of Rumpelstilzchen. He was voiced by Bernhard Hoecker, a German comedian I love

I'd say one of the most out of left field castings in animation was Orson Welles as Unicron in Transformers.
Forever and always: Mark Hamill as the animated series Joker took my by surprise. It wasn’t until he joined the Arrow cast as their jokerster villain that I understood

When I tell you I jumped out of my seat when I saw Christian Bale’s name in the credits as Howl is not an exaggeration
My first time seeing Howl’s Moving Castle was in high school and I recognized Batman’s voice INSTANTLY 😂 it was such a cool realization, I felt like that Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme lol
I loved the voice of Jennifer Love- Hewitt as Madeline who fell in love with Quasimodo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 in 2000. It wasn't until after she was in that movie that I found out that she was a singer too. I thought she was just an actress.
I was surprised to hear how stood behinds young Anastasia, Brother's Bear and Howl's voice. Truly amazing 👏 never knew they were part of my childhood 😃
Nicole Kidman's career was kick started thanks to the Happy Feet director George Miller by producing some of her early staring roles such as Dead Calm.
The next one to follow this up should be epic animated casts. While these solo performances are amazing, the entire casts of these movies are equally impressive.
Bale uses the Bat-Voice in Howl during the 'dragon' scene. A few years before putting on the Bat-cowl even! Morever, his voice-acting chops are underrated even to Batman fans -- Bale gave his first experimental Bruce Wayne/Batman voice (just above a whisper and not that gravelly) in the tie-in video-game on the PS2 for Batman Begins, and it was one of my first exposures of him as the character (you can get a taste of it in both Begins and in the teaser). It's absolutely brilliant. Even Robert Pattinson uses the similar style for his Batman and in an interview admits how surprised he was to learn that Bale experimented with it originally.
On a similar but sad note, if you've read this far along my Bat-Rant, I just wanna say how deeply saddening it is that Kevin Conroy is no longer with us. His voice will forever be the voice of Batman for me.

When I was so little I was very unaware about Bruce Willis till I saw DIE HARD last holiday season, he was great as Spike The Dog along RJ The Raccoon.

I remember when Bruce Willis did the voice of Spike in that Rugrats movie. Did you know Willis also produced his own albums in the 80s? Also, I always enjoyed Christian Bale's sexy American accent more than his cockney voice.

How about "Ed Ward Nor Ton" as HE put it in "Sausage Party" playing the part of Sammy Bagel Jr. OR his brother-in-arms from the SAME movie but voicing "Paul" the alien in "Paul" the movie.
Here's another one you missed who is right up there with Rich Little in regards of: "I wonder what his REAL voice sounds like?" and that is Bill Harder. Every movie I've seen with him in it his voice has a different tone to it.
