Great Video: Thanks. According to Michell1, the torque of the steering wheel to steering column is 62.5Nm with an M14 thread. It shows this for E81, E87, E90, E91, E92 and E93

Don't care about position of steering wheel, cause inside is chock. Also good to know, that bolt in the center is 16mm(usually in BMW) NOT 17mm size. Nice job mate.

Changed steering wheel, but my new paddle shifters don't work. Also noticed the two function butto's have different logos on them. Anyone else had this problem? Should I replace the paddle shifters and buttons from my old steering wheel? Old one worked fine, and function buttons had a sort of square and star logos, new one has a radio and a circle with rotating arrows. Thank you.

    Hi Gerard,
I have the same problem with my steering...getting very hard to drive...we performed all checks, communications, re-programming and the problem still exists.
I have been told that the steering rack needs to be replaced. My question is: can it be replaced with used one? Or do I need to buy a new steering rack? If we replace it with used steering rack then, can we code (programming) it to my car or not?
    Thanks. Christos

Check the u-joints on the steering column that passes through the engine bay. The lower one in particular gets filled with road crud.
