That's great - as usual, you have gone above and beyond just a simple how-to! Keep them coming! So far I have successfully got the 4.50 flashed on SIDE3, will work on the U1MB update next.
@@flashjazzcat Not at all, totally honest to say I didn't get a lot of it, but after a bit of fiddling with settings, I did get the other update completed. I still don't entirely get the relationship between U1MB, SIDE3, enabling SpartaDOS, enabling Hard drive support etc. but I found the right combo to get it done. 🙂
New fjc vid and SpartaDOS X! Watching you work your magic sure gives me a better understanding on the behind the scenes work I sometimes take for granted. Looking forward to updating my S2, S3 and U1mb. Once again, thank you for the updates, walkthroughs and all you do for the community.
Dang it, i keep hearing Win11 notifications but nothing pops ups on my screen! It's your video! at 5:00 your phone has a buttload of messages, and it keeps growing later in the video.
HI jonathan, i'm new to this. I just got my Atari 130ex back from my mother's attack. Had problems starting the system back up and running, recapped the computer, and the drive 1050, now up and running, had problems with the old brick power supplies. Got a shock when I saw the output on the telly. You guys are on an other planet, just wondering how to progess from were I am. Any advice and direction would be appreciated if you could advise 🙏👍
The SIDE3 situation is complex since Lotharek discontinued it after I made a video highlighting the lack of testing in recent versions of the hardware. The video followed several weeks of Lotharek being unresponsive to my attempts to reach out and resolve the situation privately, and since customers were being charged over GBP 100 for the device, I decided the situation could not be allowed to go unchecked. As a result, the only place you can buy SIDE3 is from RetroLemon in the UK (they ship worldwide), and once they're stock-out, that's it. Candle (who designed SIDE3) offers corrected SIDE3 PCBs at PCBWay, but there's a minimum order quantity of five boards and no case. So if you want one, buy one from RetroLemon. I also recommend the Ultimate 1MB for a RAM upgrade and - at the very least - UAV (from The Brewing Academy) for a video upgrade. Beyond that it's very much a matter of what else you need from the machine (stereo audio, RGB video, etc).
Ive got a lot to learn @flashjazzcat . I'm a real newbie at this, just recently recapped the board an sorted an recapped my 1050. About to build a new power supply to power both at the same time. I have watched loads of you posts on RUclips and learnt loads but it's all a bit daunting 😳
would it be possible to take this new SpartaDos X v2.5 and flash it to an old old SpartaDosX cartridge I still have laying around (somewhere)? Idk if the new SDX will fit on those old EPROM carts, I assume the new SDX is much larger now than the original versions made by ICD.
There are instructions online to fit a bigger EPROM inside the original ICD SDX cart. The old ROM was 64K and the newer SDX versions require at least 128K.
Excellent job, Jon. If even possible, will you do a SiDE2 update executable, too?
Great idea. I'll have a look at this soon!
@@flashjazzcat Another vote for side2!
Thanks Jon. I managed to update all 4 of my devices via fujinet.

That's good to hear, Darren. I hope the off-piste sections weren't too distracting!

Thanks for the kind remarks. I had a separate request for a version of this update tool for SIDE2, so I'll be working on that presently.
Get well soon Jonathan. I'll look at doing my U1MB. HNY mate.
Thanks! Happy New Year. :)

Great video - absolutely loved the live coding session. I need to go back and check out that percentage progress indicator to let it sink in.
Thanks! It took me a few minutes to get my head around it again and I wrote it, LOL.
5:37 maybe Colleen mode is used on old 400/800 models? Can you make an 800 run in XL/XE mode? whatever that really means.
Colleen mode is the Incognito's 800 compatibility mode. In XL/XE mode, an Incognito 800 functions exactly like an XL/XE.
The problem with scaling RespeQt is that it still use Qt 5.6 for XP compatibility. They were just beginning scaling support in that version.
Ah - makes total sense. Thanks!
good stuff. You should do more videos on that graphical interface mate! Take it EV ;p
Thanks. That GUI has taken on behemoth status, much like the SIDE3 Loader. I shudder at the thought of the amount of work required on both projects.

How can I purchase a side three and could you give me a cost, sounds very interesting?
