Koala and Baby Cake Tutorial!

- Happy Friday!! This Koala cake is the last non halloween/fall themes cake I'll be doing so I just wanted to squeak it in here:) I hope you enjoy and don't forget to subscribe for new videos every week!

Just a quick note, I would recommend adding a centre dowel through the cake if you are nervous about its top heaviness. It's was super late when I was filming this so I didn't want to serenade my neighbors with the sound of me smashing a dowel with my hammer lol, and I didn't have any problems once it was all put together but you can never go wrong with added support!
This is the cutest cake, especially the baby koala. The coconut finish looks amazing, I love the effect it gives, it looks so much like fur.

Hello This is a really cute cake. I have been asked to make it. Approxamatelly how much modeling chocolate will it need or could I use fondant instead?
Hi there, unfortunately I do not measure how much modelling chocolate I use so I can't be certain, but i'd guess around a pound/450grams or so. You can definitely use fondant instead though it may not blend quite a seamless on the branch, but a little more texture wouldn't hurt the look I dont think:)

Thank you!😊 I tried adding a tail in for her and it honestly just didn't look right with the baby since I didn't have a ton of room back there and it kind of took away from shape of the baby since they were so close together and it was hard to create distinct details with the coconut. Just a personal preference but you could absolutely add one in if you'd like!
