    Here’s a stop gate that I added at the back of the Livestock Working Chute that I made out of Pallets. This will allow me to stop them from backing out of the chute, when I work them. I made it from materials I had around the homestead, and I’ll walk you through the process.
    This will work for either sheep or goats, and should reduce their stress… and mine. I won’t have to be wrestling my sheep as often now.
    If I had bought it, this gate would have cost me almost $200. But, it cost almost nothing... because of the materials I had on hand.
    Check it out,

    In preparation for lambs you could bolt or weld a panel of expanded metal grate to the stop side of that gate. There's not enough room for a sheep to turn around but a lamb might and end up getting their head stuck in that gate. I would bolt it so you could take it on and off as needed. Plus this additional panel could extend almost to the ground to prevent nose unders. Weld a little flat steel or angle iron to any sharp edges you are left with on the pannel.

    like it! For one who stutters I worked on a lot of rhymes....Peter Piper picked a pepper....etc...Should have had some rhyme with SHEEP CHUTE in school. I can barely say it now. lol. Good job. Like it a lot.

    I think I'll make of these for my goats. They pretty much run in the trailer for corn.

    Maybe just put a 2x4 across the ground level and keep in the lambs.

    How did your pallet chute work out?

    • @BIGALTX
      @BIGALTX  6 лет назад

      Real well. It made it much easier to worm the sheep in the chute than wrestling them around.
      Now that I've recently sold my sheep I may take it apart and use the wood for something else.
      It's not large enough for cows.
      I'm thinking about reusing the sliding gate for my cow chute, though.
