What if I unscrew the bottom 2 screws and the metal plate will not come off because it has a lip attached to the storm door?

My door is only 2 years old and i am having trouble keeping the glass up. I have to really slam it which is starting to not work. Or push really hard while forcing the latch to catch. It seems like the glass should be sliding up an extra ¼ inch or so.

What do you do when the spindle itself no longer has tension allowing the screen to just bunch up when you slide the window back up?

@ProVia. Although the installation was with a Larson Door, (A Brand Carried at Lowes) There's only 2 (Two) Videos on ''Self Storing Screen Assemblies'' on RUclips. Bummer.....
Edited section: My ''Replacement Self Storing Screen Assembly for our Larson Door, lasted 2 months. Since the Outside Window wouldn't ''Latch/Lock, in the ''Up Position'', I've got to remove it & either get another ''Replacement Screen Assembly'', or get the $40-$50 back in a Refund & just buy a ''New Front Storm door''..
I ended up here after the storm door screen finally tore away from the door panel. Now first open your storm door. On the door jamb on the ''Hinge'' side, there should be a sticker on the jamb, you'll need that number in order to get the correct replacement screen. Now because the screens are installed at the factory, your replacement should come with an added part by the manufacturer that allows you to attach it to the storm window panel frame. Since ours is a Larson brand, on their website they have a ''How To'' video on this type of screen replacement, plus it's only $50 which seems cheap to me but hey, it worked. But as you can see in the ''Edited Section'' above, the Replacement Assembly only worked correctly for 2 months... Saying that I'm a little pissed, is an understatement, to say the least......

There is a crucial step that is skipped and edited out. Its when he unscrews the plate then it skips to it already being off. How do you remove that plate?

Hi Kyle - after the screws are removed, the cover needs to be slid down approximately 3/16” and then lifted out. Occasionally it will be tight on the outside edges, between the frame, and it will need to be wiggled a bit to free it.
The bottom is the same except that the cover needs to be slid up and then removed. Occasionally the side aluminum “jamb” extrusions will slide down and will make it difficult to lift the cover up. To remedy this, you will need to use a larger, flat blade, screw driver and wedge it between the top leg of the cover and where the bottom of the side aluminum “jamb” extrusion rests on the cover and pry it upward. This is a rare occurrence but does happen on occasion.
Hope this helps clarify a bit. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

I would never own this type of door again. They are extremely heavy. The door handles are not user friendly. You can not replace the handle with the push button handles at all because these door handles are built into the door. The handle broke on us and Menards wants $50-$60 for one replacement handle. If I spend that on a handle, then I need new screen, and the window never wants to shut without slamming I will take all that money and buy a much user friendly door and a much lighter door. In my opinion as a home owner, this door is to problematic.
