SchooledZone channel community figured out that mods are the best to drop/pick up because it has no weight to carry and takes off the most from the meter. The meter is based on how much detail an item has, the more detail the better. This video helped me figure out how many bar resets is safe thanks bruv. Im in hang man alley and built 3 2x6 vaults and already im full. Nothings even inside or outside. 🥴
NICE VID.You dont need to scrap the itens, store them in workbench will work too,and the best item to have more space opened is the gamma weapons.10 of them will give a lot of space .The crash and fps drops with this glitch will increase if you have too many npcs and decorations in the settlement.sorry for my bad english i'm from Brazil.
Thanks! Nice to hear from Brazil. Your English is very good my friend. Yes as I said in the video, the more complex the model the bigger the drop. You are right the Gamma guns trick works great. Personally, I prefer to scrap the low-end weapons for this. It saves having to carry them to sell them, and saves you having to buy screws and gears etc too. Win win!
Cool video, and very glad you warned about how many times you can do this glitch. I think this partly depends on how many settlements are in the same cell (the famous Abernathy/Sanctuary/Red Rocket triangle of death is a tricky one for instance). In general I have found once you get to 3 size bars full it's time to stop or instability is absolutely guaranteed on console. As for the actual glitch/trick itself, I recommend using Gamma Guns. They "restore" the most amount of the build bar in one shot compared to other weapons.
Thanks! Yeah, I thought it was important to warn people, a lot of others don't. Three resets is the trouble zone for sure on the old-gen consoles. This video was just to explain how it works, I go into the gamma guns and compare all the other methods in the second video.
It's probably been mentioned before in this comment section, but Another youtube video suggests not scrapping your items but taking them out of the workshop bench and going into your pip boy and dropping the items out of your inventory. Then, simple STORE the items back into the workshop. Apparently, there's a "glitch" where the game will assume what you're STORING is part of the settlement or some technical like that. The bottom line is that the build meter shrinks, and you can continue to build again. Repeat if the meter gets full again. I imagine that eventually, the game will crash or slow up. But there it is. Another way to make a tad bit more stuff in your settlement.
You know where this video says in the title "Part 1 of 2 "Guess what part two covers? Plus I put all that info in both the video description and the pinned comment and still people leave this comment! Lol
Two things... One, you don't have to scrap items, only store them in the workbenches. So you can "recycle" items from your workbench, drop them on the ground and then store them back in the worldbench. Two, use weapons mods, the ones that look like a bunch of tiny parts in a tray. I think some robot mods count as well. These seem to have the highest polygon count of anything you can drop and store. You can hoard up a bunch of them and use them as your "toolbox" if you like, carry them from settlement to settlement as you build. They weigh virtually nothing and when you drop them they will fall into a nice circle. One last tip, I play on a PS4 slim, and in my vault 77 build explored the size meter a ton. I lost count but I know the first dick of danger is when items that are placed begin to fall through surfaces. So im guessing that a lot of these videos where you see REALLY AWESOME builds are freshly done with items staged. Because as soon as you try to save and reenter the game everythin that isn't nailed down falls to the ground.
Two things... One, I'm guessing you didn't watch the next part in the series where I explain everything you list here and demonstrate six methods for resetting the size bar and show how much each method lowers the bar by. Two, the problem with decoration items falling through surfaces is a well-known issue and there are a number of workarounds. No Mods Shop Class has a good video on that so he should be able to help you out. Thanks for watching and enjoy your building.
@@FalloutPBC actually I love that channel, but because of the You Tube algorithm I haven't seen either of them. And sometimes visiting a channel some videos fall through the cracks. I can't recall how many times this has happened but I know there are videos that go missing because I had watched them, and then reappear when I'm not looking for them. I've been watching a lot of build videos lately and I'm amazed by some of the ingenuity I have seen lately, and was probably spurred on, and topped by one build called "The Death Factory". I'm give a wild guess you haven't seen it yet because the watch counter is pretty low, and ten of those are mine. I recommend it. Im still trying to figure out a way to record, edit and narrate some videos to do tours of my builds. Vault 77 was a massive build, I used every square inch and provided every possible amenity you would find in a modern city, including a courtroom and a jail complex. The guilty are expelled through a door where the prisoners would live trapped between the walls where they have scavenged together a meager existence. Then there is a modern interpretation of Hangman's Alley. I took the small space as a challenge. I did a massive build at Murkwater where all of the buildings are supported on stilts. I am currently poring massive amounts of concrete go build an arena of sorts at the Starlight, and a bunker style build at coastal cottage. I love taking on the challenges of building at the worst rated settlements. Skooled Zone was my teacher, and I tried doing a Sanctuary build, and Jamica Plains, and The Castle. But then you have something that's already been done. It's still fun to fo and every now and then I go messing around with those, but I think I am ready for the advanced stuff now. I've got a computer, and want to do a fresh install of Fallout, and another playthrough. Im glad you ate bringing Fallout to your past of the world and enjoying it. Have fun.
@@FalloutPBC almost forgot. I want to apologize if I sounded a little up front. Since you were scraping items I assumed you were a little more and didn't know about storing things in the workbench. It's a very easy thing to overlook and im actually still guilty of "whoops I should have stored that instead". But hey, you did take your time to respond to me and I appreciate that. So much so Im subscribing. Keep up the good work!
@@derekwhidden9730 No worries my friend you are not the first person to miss that this was the first in a series of videos. In fact I've had a lot of very nasty messages on this video, so this one wasn't that bad at all by comparison lol. I could tell it was just an honest mistake. Sadly some of the others were so nasty RUclips flagged them and I had to remove them. I learned a big leason from this series. A lot of my viewers were new players and had asked me to make some short vids like this just covering the basics, as it seemed that a lot of the newer players were finding the "deep dives" from the old days quite slow, and a real slog to get though. After chatting with them I understood what they were saying and could see why a new player wouldn't want to slog though maybe hundreds of hours of the old vids. My idea was just to help new players with a series of five or six short vids just covering the basics as an introduction. To be fair they did the job and there are some really nice comments from people that got the help they wanted in a concise and punchy package and were very pleased. The thing I didn't expect was how much heat they would get from veterans who seemed to be offended by the videos for some reason. I really didn't expect very experienced builders would even want to watch the vids. In some cases people were angrly pointing out all the things I did wrong even when they clearly hadn't even watched the whole video, let alone the whole series. In hindsight I should have done a much better job of explaining what I was doing and why, and that more information was comming. Plus I should have been clearer that this was a brief introduction and not a "deep dive" and I wasn't trying to replace or attack anyone else's channel or content. I still have a lot to learn about RUclips as a creator and communicator. Anyway, thanks for the sub Derek it's very much appreciated and good luck with your channel.
@@derekwhidden9730 Definatly some amazing building being done on a lot of channels right now. Sounds like you put a huge amount of work into your builds. I really hope you get them up at some point they sound very cool! Good luck with your builds and good luck with your channel!
Nice. Concise and well-explained. The build limit is frustrating - makes me want to spend big bucks on a gaming computer with a super-powerful graphics card. I guess I need to save up my pennies.
Sadly even with a pc with a great graphics card and large amount of ram you are still hit with the build limit. It's not just a console issue. I'm shocked by how quickly some of the settlements hit their limit so I've gotten into the habit of keeping a handful of heavily modded weapons on me when I build away from my home base so I can do the "drop/store" glitch when I need more build space. I haven't even unlocked all the build objects yet, so it's only going to get worse as my character progresses.
@@simdoughnut659 Even with a great graphics card and lots of ram? Well, that is discouraging. Still, I have seen YT videos of settlements that are f'n HUGE, and I don't even NEED to build anything that big. So maybe I need to ask those guys about their hardware, if I ever get serious about this.
@@richardreinertson1335 More than likely Richard they are doing the same thing I am, something like the gun drop/store/repeat trick to reset the bar. While I don't suffer any frame drops that I've noticed, using a glitch like that is the only way I've been able to find which allows you to increase the settlement limit beyond what is coded into the game. Improving your hardware is only going to allow you do that trick more times without any major issues. Hope that answered your question.
I keep my settlement builds conservative. I don't build walls to wrap the entire settlement. Keep my individual building to a 1 floor, maybe 2. Depending on the size of my settlements, I put up enough turrets on strategic places, not dot every inch of the settlement with turrets. I scrape all pipe pistol or pipe related weapons, leather armor pieces, or just useless weapons and armor or sell it to Carla. Either way. I try and keep the majority of stuff in my main workbench down to aide, misc, and junk items. Keeps that build bar down pretty nicely. 😊
Also I just learned this for anyone having problem with freezing and crashes if you freeze and think you’ll have to reset quickly try to quick save and after the auto save ends you exit out completely and reload. I’ve had this work with a lot of freezes especially on that one mission to kill a courser for his chip and it freezes around the mass fusion building. But always be on point about freezes as soon as you think your freezing or glitching around save asap.
You do not need to scrap guns. You can just store them in the workshop. Then you can remove them, drop them via the pipboy (one at a time), and then store them in the workshop in build mode again. Scrapping them works as well, but is not necessary..
Im definitely gonna use this. I am a cheater with the builds because I keep duplicating materials but I just want the materials now so I can develop each city fast. I already went through hours of painstakingly collecting garbage to haul back to settlements so it’s time to just develop now so I can do the story more and have a nice and safe area to go to one in a while. Only problem is my space gets taken up fast because Im trying to have a farm, multiple houses, my own house, a generator room, indoor gym, shops, heavy security, walls, etc at every settlement so it is gonna get quite demanding for my game but it can’t get worse than Boston and diamond city Im pretty sure. I was going to do story first but survival mode keeps kicking my ass so I think my best option would be to build up and collect more settlements so I can have more guaranteed save points and resources while also free leveling up a bit so I can get more perks to help myself.
That's cool, you play your own way, it's your game. Duplicating materials, mods whatever, it's all cool. Be mindful of what I said in the video about not over doing it. If you are on the old gen consoles 1 - 2 resets should be ok but be cautious. And don't forget to watch part 2! Lots of great tips there too. Good luck with your builds!
Glad I could help and I hope you enjoy your new building freedom. ( But don't forget what I say about only doing this once or twice if you are on the older consoles )
I love No Mods Shop Class! His deep dive videos were brilliant back in the day and I don't think can be improved upon. I hoped to get the info out in a much shorter, and condensed format for new players.
Bruhhhhhhh omg I found this out without any help or mods is just started storing junk AMMO and walls it all works I build an entire castle but I think your glich is a ton better
I did the same thing, it was a good few years before I finished the main story. I'd highly recommend the Brotherhood ending, it's the most logical way to end the story and it has the most content. If you don't like the BoS then I'd say the MM ending is next best.
i cant believe they released the vault 88 dlc while keeping this build limit. i mean what the heck, you cant even properly fill the starting cavern with stuff before you get this message. i suppose thats why each sector has its own workshop device?
That was really frustrating for me too. I had the same problem. I built an atrium and a few rooms and hit the limit. I was on Xbox One at the time and generally speaking, that console can't run the game as it was intended to be played. As usual, Bethesda's ambition and ideas were way ahead of their capacity and ability.
Just wondering if you will do no mods builds of different settlements? I would love to see Coastal Cottage. I always struggle with that settlement. Also, when Starfield comes out, do you think you will do videos when it comes out? I know Todd said we will be able to build bases and such as Fallout. Will you ever do playthroughs? I really enjoy your channel. I hope you keep it up.
Thanks but that's all in VIDEO TWO! I've tried so hard to let people know this is just part one. It's in the title the description the pinned comment, I tried everything to get people to watch both parts and still, I get this comment over and over. PLEASE WATCH PART TWO PEOPLE!!!!
Yep that and a ton of other tricks are all in part 2! I really wish people would watch both parts. I've put that in the title, the description and in the pinned comment and still people leave me this message Lol
Another method of doing this is by changing the barrel mods on energy weapons and the action mods on projectile weapons. then PUT those things in the workbench. The other kind of mods DO NOT work.
I just came up with an idea. If you’re the kind of player that dupes resources, then this trick will work perfectly. Just manufacture the guns and scrap them in a fast pace in order to drop the size bar rapidly, you can also make the guns, take the guns to another settlement, drop them and scrap them. Obviously, this is only ok if you duped your recourses to the point where you won’t feel the pinch.
I've been doing this on accident lol didn’t know that was a glitch. Made a new save and was confused why I built so much less compared to my other save.
@FalloutPBC Well it would certainly explain why my game crashes lol. I need to be able to build more though but it's good to know that it's what is likely causing problems.
When you say “do it only twice” at most (just meant as a reasonable facsimile of what you said), do you mean two full bars equivalent, or only scrap items (whether a big amount or a large amount) twice when building?
I'm referring to the bar yes. It's usually safe on two full resets. Any more than that and the problems can start. That's on Xbox One and PS4 of course. You can do a lot more on the next-gen consoles.
On the older machines, Xbox One or PS4 I recommend no more than two full bar resets. Never do a partial reset as it makes it hard to keep track of how much resetting you have done. Did that make sense?
Yes very much so! I'm not sure where the upper limit is yet but so far I have managed builds with 5 resets since switching to Series X. Other things affect it too. Population is also a big factor. Once again, it's much better on Series X. My current biggest base has about 40 NPCs and is 5 resets big. I've started to see a bit of slow down so I guess I could be near the limit. Hope that helps Rose. Feel free to stop back in and add your experiences if you find a point where trouble starts.
at first it’s working fine, but after i build and build stuff my game start crashing and force close,it happend when i scrap/delete some item. And also when attaching a wire.
You do not scrape the guns, when you drop them, you are supposed to store them in your workbench, first... And this creates more space for more items to be built. 🤔
You didn't watch part two, did you! Or read my pinned comment!! Or the video description!!! Anyway just in case someone else reads this but hasn't bothered to watch video two or anything else I've listed... Video two covers storing items and what items work best. It busts some of the RUclipsr myths about which items are best. Plus scraping the guns is a GREAT way to gain extra resources especially if you have the scrapper perk. It's pointless to store low-level junk guns. People ask me all the time how I gather so many resources for my bigger builds with no mods. Getting the scrapper perk and scrapping all the low-level weapons is a great start.
@@J.a.v.i One of the modders (I can't recall who) said somehow Bethesda used the loading screen version of the gamma gun as the in game gun. They have more polygons than any other in game gun. Even more polygons than those two large round radioactive cooling tanks across the street from County Crossing.
Well I'm not a PC guy so I can't say from personal experience but in theory yes. There are some truly colossal builds from the PC community. If any of my PC playing viewers want to wade in here and help Matt out with more info, please do.
@Fallout Play Build Collect I'll try it 😄 I remember when I played on ps4, I didn't know that resetting the bar can fk up the game 😄 I reset the bar like 10x times back then on ps4 without some big "problems", only problem was that my ps4 sounded like a jet 💀 but that's kinda normal on consoles 😄
@@Matt_Hew I had a similar situation on my Xbox One, it really struggled to run this game at all. I had to limit my builds to 2-3 resets max. I have tried 6 resets on Xbox SX with no problems so far.
@Fallout Play Build Collect Idk why they didn't make the building maximum bigger on the next gen and pc, but maybe we'll get something after they drop the TV show. And to be honest, they should atleast make another dlc if we won't see the fallout 5 until 2030+.
@@Matt_Hew We are going to be getting a next gen update this year Matt but still no word yet as to a firm release date. Hopefully, they will address the build limit issues in the update. Also they did say we will be getting new creation club content after the update. It's not a full DLC but it's something.. It's looking highly likely there will be new Fallout games much sooner than 2030 they just won't be from Bethesda.
Great technique, I will try it as soon as I have enough resources to go over the bar. You mentioned this trick works for ps4 and xbox one. Does it also work for ps 5?
Oh wow man that sucks. Thanks for sharing your experience... It's good to know for other players. Looks like my experience of one reset, maybe two at a push is correct. Have you tried to delete some of the build? That has rescued some builds for me. It's sad to have to delete stuff but it's better that the crashes.
I have multiple play throughs and silly me did not notice that haha on me. Not really knowing this fact on my play through on my Xbox I scrapped all my stuff at sanctuary and now my game crashes all the time can't play it there. On my PlayStation now knowing this fact. My thing is why could i be allowed to scrap things not knowing about this glitch and the size limit together then eventually your game crashes and you have to make a new play through. Thanks for the tip playing this time a little more careful.
I think a lot of the main RUclipsrs at the time were responsible for this. Lots of those videos are still out there telling people about the glitch and saying how great it is but not warning them about the problems. I'm sad to hear you lost some saves, that sucks. I really hope Bethesda fix this situation when they do their update next year. Until then caution is very much the way to go, especially for us console players.
I been doing this to get the stuff i need to craft certain stuff, (like if i need to get more steel or copper, or wood) i've notice the bar on the top right but been wondering what it was for
As I said in the video, this can be a great way to get resources, but you have to be careful to keep track of how many times you are resetting the bar.
@FalloutPBC it crazy because I haven't noticed anything weird when it comes to that. I've experienced problems outside of settlements in some of the areas in Boston. I think I was able to push through whatever bug that kept making my game freeze every time I near a certain area within Boston. Also I try make 2 or 3 copies of the most recent save file, and I delete all the other ones. I heard having too many saves files can mess the game up?
@@ThejokerNSorrow99 Downtown Boston is notorious for crashes. You are doing the right thing in saving often. I've never had a problem with the number of saves. I have been running at the maximum level for years. The main problem is in the size of the settlements you build. On the older consoles, any more than two resets in size caused me problems. My Graygarden build here on the channel was bigger than that at one point. It crashed so ofter I had to reduce it's size. The number of settlers can effect it too.
Thank you for the videos, I know about this because I love settlement building but I have a huge issue with vault 88 right now, I dropped about 50 weapons once and the bar isn't moving at all, I've cleared all the caves etc., and I didn't gain any space. I don't use mods and I'm on PC, I've built the vault several times over the years and this is a first for me. Would you have any ideas or is this a new bug? Thank you in advance.
Yes, as I said in the video, it's risky. I find one reset is acceptable, two is pushing it. Some people go much more. I wouldn't recommend going any more on Xbox One or PS4.
How many times should I reset the bar on the series x? I reckon once would be the safe option. I just want to use it for sanctuary and the castle if that matters.
Everybody seems to have their own theory on this. Back on Xbox One, I felt like two or three resets were about the limit. If you watch my Gray Garden build here on the channel, I had some problems with that one crashing often and had to scale it back to where you see it in the video. I've only been on Xbox Series X for a few months now but in all the time I have been playing ( well over a hundred hours ) I've only had one crash. I have been working on a large new build lately and I have done four resets with no problems at all. Plus none of my older builds causes any problems on this machine. So far I have expanded many of them without issues. So in my experience one or two resets are most likely fine on the old-gen systems, but I really can't say where the limit is on this new hardware. Four is as far as I have gone but I suspect the machine could cope with more. Another factor is how much you want to decorate and how many settlers you have. Overall I'd say you are most likely safe with three but go a bit more with caution if you really want to. Anyone else reading this that plays on Xbox Series X feel free to share your experiences here. Hope that has helped to at least some degree.
@@FalloutPBC Thanks for the reply. I'm glad the series x can handle the glitch that well. I was really disappointed with the build limit back when I played on old gen.
@@MONTR65 Very pleased to help. The build tiny limits always really frustrated me over the years too. It was a number of viewers here that told me about how massively better XboxSX runs the game. I'm really glad I took their advice because it shocked me just what a better experience it is, to play the game on this system. I hope you enjoy playing the game again on XboxSX as much as I have.
That's a very strange problem. I haven't run into that problem before but I am on the Xbox platforms. Perhaps run a search on Reddit to see if others have run into the same problem?
Thanks, @Junk Mail that's interesting to know. I've been looking to upgrade to Xbox X for the channel. I was wondering how much of a difference it made in the settlements.
I just wanna know how people are even scrapping them from the ground in the first place. I can only scrap weapons at the weapons bench. If I drop a weapon on the ground, go into build mode and hover over the weapon so it's highlighted I don't even get the "B to store" or "X to scrap" displayed. It's not a visual bug either. I tried both buttons and nothing happens. I can just grab whatever weapon I dropped with A and move it around, but not store or scrap it.
This is a basic feature of the game and has been from day one. If you watch my second video on this you can see all the different items that can be scrapped. So give that video a watch too, perhaps you are missing something.
I can’t say about PS5 but I’ve been playing on Xbox series X for a few weeks now and the game is running like a dream! Not a single crash in hundreds of hours of play.
PS5 runs the game much smoother than PS4 and crashes less. That said, it *will* eventually crash. For instance, I "broke" my Jamaica Plains settlement when I built it on PS4 by using the size bar glitch too many times and it still crashes if I visit it on PS5. That said, it deals with framerate a lot better. There are settlements that run pretty jagged on my PS4 that look very smooth on PS5.
I cannot say much about PCs as I'm on a console. If it's any help I recommend no more than two resets on Xbox One. Since I've had Xbox SX I've been able to do 4 resets, so far without a problem.
That's just completely idiotic that they did it like that. We have to build a bunch of times cuz we're. learning! I just learned how to make a nice house and now I can't build anything.
I find it ridiculous that my top of the line PC with a rtx4090 graphics card is limited because Bethesda caters to console players. It makes no sense that I can’t maximize my experience without mods, but thank you nonetheless
Make sure you watch part 2!!!

Thanks Richard! I tried hard to keep the video concise. I'm the same, I would love to be running this game on a high end gaming PC. Maybe one day.
@@simdoughnut659 Yup, thanks.
Sounds like you have a solid method working well for you, both well-organised and lore friendly.
this i was doing and noticed after gaining about 10 settlements a limit so went around streamlining each one as much as i could
Just came back to Fallout 4 and started Vault 88. Thanks for the refresher.
Honestly, may leave again soon for Starfield 😅
This is the way!
@@FalloutPBC This is the way
Also I just learned this for anyone having problem with freezing and crashes if you freeze and think you’ll have to reset quickly try to quick save and after the auto save ends you exit out completely and reload. I’ve had this work with a lot of freezes especially on that one mission to kill a courser for his chip and it freezes around the mass fusion building. But always be on point about freezes as soon as you think your freezing or glitching around save asap.
Thanks for the tip!
You do not need to scrap guns. You can just store them in the workshop. Then you can remove them, drop them via the pipboy (one at a time), and then store them in the workshop in build mode again. Scrapping them works as well, but is not necessary..
I think you should have watched part 2!!! Lol
It's in the description, the thumbnail and the pinned comment.
Good luck with your builds!
awesome video homie i like how you broke down the downsides of doing this it was very helpful 👍
Rejoining the game on the PS5 - thanks for the refresh tute.... :)

Holy hell, I've done this for the materials. I had no idea it extended the size bar, too.
Glad I could help and I hope you enjoy your new building freedom.
( But don't forget what I say about only doing this once or twice if you are on the older consoles )

I've had this game. Never finished it. On my 5th restart. Still watching video for tips
I did the same thing, it was a good few years before I finished the main story. I'd highly recommend the Brotherhood ending, it's the most logical way to end the story and it has the most content.
If you don't like the BoS then I'd say the MM ending is next best.
This video is great. Really important things to know. Thanks mate. 👍
Glad it was helpful Alice!
i cant believe they released the vault 88 dlc while keeping this build limit. i mean what the heck, you cant even properly fill the starting cavern with stuff before you get this message.
i suppose thats why each sector has its own workshop device?
I play on pc, and if you just store the weapon in the workshop the build limit will also increase.
That's right. It's the same on consoles too. I put that in the pinned comment but should have mentioned it in the video for sure.
You are a true life saver thank you
Your welcome! Don't forget to watch part 2!
Works with scrap cans and other items too. Everything that you can scrap to resources. Not only weapons and armor
You Don't really have to scrap the items. You can also store the weapons and armor in the workshop, and the exploit still works 😊
I do go into all the other methods in the second video, that ones well worth a watch too.
Thanks for watching!
Interesting idea. I have lots more alternate ways to do the size bar glitch in part 2. Maybe give that one a watch too.
I've been doing this on accident lol didn’t know that was a glitch. Made a new save and was confused why I built so much less compared to my other save.
Good job you found this video before you accidentally bricked your save!
@FalloutPBC Well it would certainly explain why my game crashes lol. I need to be able to build more though but it's good to know that it's what is likely causing problems.
Dope vid great info I did the wires for the cheat but guns as you did work well to
Thanks Brian! Glad it was helpful. More tip vids coming soon.
@@FalloutPBC Thanks for such a quick answer on an old video!
@@NOLAgenX You're welcome. There is always new people getting into the game so I still answer all questions.
When you mean bar reset, do you mean a full bar reset or about the amount you did the the video?
On the older machines, Xbox One or PS4 I recommend no more than two full bar resets.
Never do a partial reset as it makes it hard to keep track of how much resetting you have done.
Did that make sense?
If I'm playing on a series X, do you know if there is more leeway?
Yes very much so! I'm not sure where the upper limit is yet but so far I have managed builds with 5 resets since switching to Series X.
Other things affect it too. Population is also a big factor. Once again, it's much better on Series X.
My current biggest base has about 40 NPCs and is 5 resets big. I've started to see a bit of slow down so I guess I could be near the limit.
Hope that helps Rose. Feel free to stop back in and add your experiences if you find a point where trouble starts.
I only need a wee bit. Thanks
Glad to help!
at first it’s working fine, but after i build and build stuff my game start crashing and force close,it happend when i scrap/delete some item.
And also when attaching a wire.
Take note of what I said about over using this glitch
Wich platform?
If you drop plasma and laser weapons it works very well for this method. The bigger the better!
Yes, that's right! The more complex the model the bigger the drop!
Gamma guns seem to be the best by a pretty large margin. Give them a try if you haven't already. You can watch chunks of the sizebar disappear.
@@TheInsaneShecklador yes absolutely, gamma guns work very well also. It seems like the more little details the item has the better this works.
@@J.a.v.i One of the modders (I can't recall who) said somehow Bethesda used the loading screen version of the gamma gun as the in game gun. They have more polygons than any other in game gun.
Even more polygons than those two large round radioactive cooling tanks across the street from County Crossing.
@@TheInsaneShecklador I think I used them in my second size bar vid. I ran through most of the options there.
So theoretically you can do this more times on high end pc right?
Yeah it will work on all platforms.
Thanks for sharing this trick …. I use this method in my settlement building … I have done up to 3 resets then sadly it crashes 😞😞
I've never seen this bug before. It could be something new. I'll keep my eyes open for more news.
@@FalloutPBC Thank you.
Do you risk the chance of corrupting your save with this method?
Yes, as I said in the video, it's risky. I find one reset is acceptable, two is pushing it. Some people go much more. I wouldn't recommend going any more on Xbox One or PS4.
Gamma guns down the limit faster then folders or miniguns❤
Gammas are a good one yes!

That's a very strange problem. I haven't run into that problem before but I am on the Xbox platforms.

If you have an XBox series X you can scrap many times. The processor can handle it 😉
Thanks, @Junk Mail that's interesting to know. I've been looking to upgrade to Xbox X for the channel. I was wondering how much of a difference it made in the settlements.
Going back and playing older games like Fallout 4 and RD2. No crashes now and game definition looks better and brighter to me with latest Xbox.
@@junkmail1262 Yesterday my Xbox died. So I guess I'll be needing that upgrade sooner rather that later! lol
@@FalloutPBC Drop weapon on ground, go into build menu, scrap. Nothing to miss there. My game's prolly just glitched.

at 1:33 you say xbox 1 and ps4 struggle but what about the new gen so PS5 ???
I can’t say about PS5 but I’ve been playing on Xbox series X for a few weeks now and the game is running like a dream! Not a single crash in hundreds of hours of play.
PS5 runs the game much smoother than PS4 and crashes less. That said, it *will* eventually crash. For instance, I "broke" my Jamaica Plains settlement when I built it on PS4 by using the size bar glitch too many times and it still crashes if I visit it on PS5. That said, it deals with framerate a lot better. There are settlements that run pretty jagged on my PS4 that look very smooth on PS5.
what about newer pc like with rtx 3060 can i reset it like fully for 4 times
I cannot say much about PCs as I'm on a console. If it's any help I recommend no more than two resets on Xbox One. Since I've had Xbox SX I've been able to do 4 resets, so far without a problem.
what are resets?
If I do not use the glitch my settlement should be safe?
Safe with one or two resets old gen and three or four on next gen.
That's just completely idiotic that they did it like that. We have to build a bunch of times cuz we're. learning! I just learned how to make a nice house and now I can't build anything.
Space is very limited in the vanilla game, it's super frustrating.
what about on an xbox series x?
I'm still experimenting myself. I've managed 5 resets on SX and a few problems start to appear. So I'm guessing that's around the limit.
