Just imagine what they could have created if they had collaborated more and wrote an entire album. Sadly, we'll never know. But Bert's later years guitar style was made for Hope's voice. This song is magic.
May I suggest the Hope/ Bert Jansch collaboration ' Barvarian Fruitbread ' it's just beautiful .Also of course Pentangle with Jackie O' Shea on vocals ..yeah an amazing folk band x
Bert and Hope to my knowledge a one off collaboration that leaves the listener salivating , craving more , mesmerised under their spell . I totally get their vibe and well remember someone saying leave them wanting more ,oh boy have they achieved that and some . A pair of acoustic artisans creating alchemy of the highest order , spellbinding !
Wow...no way...I never figured in a million years that these two would get together for a song... phenomenal - and thanks for the footnotes in the description and the lyrics! 🔥
Such brilliant lyrics, haunting, and what a combination the two of them are. I'd only recently heard this track here and have played it many times but had not made a direct connection between them...... it's here in this song, in Bert's guitar and Hope's vocals, I'd listened to them both separately until now. It's a wonderful track.
Sweet Music and the Endless Picking Style from one of my 1st influences.....Wow I said at 16yrs old in in 1965 THAT'S WHAT A GUITAR SHOULD SOUND LIKE! Bert cannot be replaces RIP I am heartbroken and still Love your Music and Lyrics you have left behind!
I've been seeing you In this house of mine Got your arms away From my strange disguise All the things that you believe Are still in me As though you please And they shimmer On the ends of my memories I could feel your ghost In the breeze I'm telling you this So you won't have anything But this to know Our colours fade All this remains And they shimmer On the ends of my memories I could feel your ghost In the breeze It's not so much That you should say You had a love Turn out this way It covers your ears And stops your heart And holds you near The shimmer On the ends of my memories I could feel your ghost In the breeze
Listen to Pentangle s 'Basket of Light' ... they still perform unfortunitly without Bert and John Renboirn.. RIP.....Sooo incredible..Hope And Bert..peace.
Why the cat pic? Well, it's a handsome cat, isn't it (it's not mine)? I don't know about Bert, but I know Hope's a cat person, has sung about cats in songs,& even meowed her way through a song imitating a cat! Almost all my Hope or Mazzy Star uploads have one or two cat pics as homage to cats & to Hope being a cat person. You can guess I'm a cat person too. As my most loudmouth cat Monkey likes to say, QUOTE: "Meow-Wow"!
i grew up with bert, john and davey as my idols.i find it a little sad berts unique and groundbreaking approach to his playing has descended into a rather pedestrian and cliched sound now.sorry to all whove enjoyed this posting but i would suggest a liberal portion of "early bert".a great and modest man all the same.
We’re all Hope addicts 👌

You are totaly right. We will sadly never know, only imagine.
It would have been magical and beautiful. I can only imagine it....
As I walk through this deserted, windswept town . . .
Love the guitar in this.
May I suggest the Hope/ Bert Jansch collaboration ' Barvarian Fruitbread ' it's just beautiful .Also of course Pentangle with Jackie O' Shea on vocals ..yeah an amazing folk band x
Two quiet colossal giants makin something haunting and beautiful. A highlight in both of their careers

Definitely! Glad I came across this one
this might be one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard
That magical guitar of Bert Jansch adds a whole lot to it.
I love her always!
Can you send me a autographed picture of yourself?
Such a perfect combo, I wish they would have done a full album together...
Hope has the voice of an angel ! ❤
She sure is
What????? This is incredible. Had no idea they collaborated.
Beautiful voice beautiful song
Reflection of Perfection!!
Damn! Hope Sandoval's voice is totally addictive
agree .. she draws you into her world beYond .. mesmerizing
ever since i first heard her voice she always reminded me of the effect of morphine i was under for pain relief years ago
Often imitated never duplicated ...
We’re all addicted 👌
Her interpretation of the lyrics, the right tone, the right feeling, holding her soul and at the perfect time is what makes her such a good singer 👍👍👍
Everything she touches turns to gold. Payback for all the Beyonces of this world...
Bert Jansch died years ago...
Beyonce is awesome. So is Hope Sandoval.
Holy shit, I didn't know she worked with him; this is lovely!
I have never heard a track by Hope that I didn't like. Mesmerising.
Me too!!!
Hope and Love is all
How lucky to have Bert on guitar.
Two subtle masters.
One of the most beautiful collaboration Bert Jansch ever did...I wish there was a live version on you tube.
The ghost is Bert;s haunting guitar work, so relentless & beautiful .... just perfect like Hope;s vocal ....
She sounds like part of all the nature in the background, beautiful
Hope Sandoval could be just be singing off a grocery list and I'd still find it beautiful.
Accurate.
I concur.
No kidding
Yes. She could sing that alphabet song and I would be mesmerized.
Man, Bedsit land in the 60's was so filled with Bert and John and Bob Dylan and Davey Graham that the world feels strangely empty without Bert.
I'm blown away...
my brother in law died suddenly a year ago and when i listened to this song i cried a bucket full.
Let's also take a sec to recognize whoever played bass on this track - phenomenal...the seagulls at the end are genius 🔥
Gosh, Hope has an angel’s voice so beautiful and clear 🥰she certainly picks the best musicians to play with
Beautiful guitar work!
Amazing piece of music.
Thank you so much......
Wow...no way...I never figured in a million years that these two would get together for a song... phenomenal - and thanks for the footnotes in the description and the lyrics! 🔥
the great man has gone.he started me and thousands like me playing guitar with his unique style.bert may be gone but not his music.greatly missed.
Missed and loved.

Hope Sandoval is a physical angel on Earth I swear to you! :-)
Chupacabra.
Calidez, cadencia, sensibilidad profunda.... Genialidad.
Bert' playing gets me in. ---A real master.

I've been seeing you
In this house of mine
Got your arms away
From my strange disguise
All the things that you believe
Are still in me
As though you please
And they shimmer
On the ends of my memories
I could feel your ghost
In the breeze
I'm telling you this
So you won't have anything
But this to know
Our colours fade
All this remains
And they shimmer
On the ends of my memories
I could feel your ghost
In the breeze
It's not so much
That you should say
You had a love
Turn out this way
It covers your ears
And stops your heart
And holds you near
The shimmer
On the ends of my memories
I could feel your ghost
In the breeze
Hope is so so so beautiful xxx
was
@1:40 Hope shines like an angel
................no words can describe her beauty
*Que música linda!* ❤🎶
Great stuff.
I love it!
I am not familiar with Bert but I am a new fan because of this song!
I recommend your music, bert is a unique guitarist, even he was one of the great influences of jimmy page
Listen to Pentangle s 'Basket of Light' ... they still perform unfortunitly without Bert and John Renboirn.. RIP.....Sooo incredible..Hope And Bert..peace.
Reminds me of "Golden Brown" by The Stranglers
This works
Life goes on! God give God take, learn, improve, move on!
AWESOME
Great!
Wow I didn't know this happened did hope do any more songs with bert besides this one? I could listen to a whole album of this
Click on "show more" under the video to read my long video description where I cite three other songs that have Hope singing and Bert playing
Such an excellent voice to build sound around, or is it happening the other way around?
exactly
La guitarra de Bert se hace protagonista en esta canción
I guess it hard to catch her on video
Why the cat pic? Well, it's a handsome cat, isn't it (it's not mine)? its kinda 60's sounds a bit like pentangle. (bert jansch and john renbourne)
33° / 71° al ad libitum 1966
I really want tabs for this song
A pity she never had sung with Emmylou Harris in a session like Breaking Ball with her,or something else. That would be a real Duet...
Emmylou and Hope both have those voices that quietly make you melt. No affectation.
