Who you recommend studying Portuguese language course online to pursue admission for masters or PhD subsequently or rather come with visitor visa to study the language course live in Brazil?
When you are admitted under the PEC-PG or the GCUB which are the most popular means of studying for master's and PhD by foreign students, there is a language course attached to the admission. You will study both your course and the language at the same time. If you study Portuguese online before coming, it will give you an upper hand during the CELPE-BRAS examination at the end of your Portuguese classes. I don't recommend a tourism visa for those who have the objective to study.
Good day sir, what if I would like to self study Portuguese are there any books or youtube channels or learning resources you can recommend? I watched some English dubbed Brazilian telenovelas in my younger days, I would like to rewatch them but they are in Portuguese.
Hi Daniel, it is easier to learn any language through self-study nowadays. You can find channels on RUclips, blogs and webpages that teach you Portuguese by searching the keywords "portugues para estrangeiros iniciantes" "português para alunos estrangeiros" ... Goodluck!

No, to study the Portuguese language, you don't need the WAEC. However, it "MAY" be required at the embassy to participate in the PEC-G and the G-CUB programs.
