@@TheRealUsername I dropped out of the news for a few months because of life issues and feel like I missed a few years. I didn’t even know OpenAI had a event until I seen the recaps this morning.
Google: “in the coming months”, “here’s a prototype”. OpenAI: “Her” come to life.

OpenAI offers up the AI from Her... Google offers up Steve Buscemi saying "How do you do, fellow kids?". OpenAI definitely stole some of their thunder... the biggest was the response time by AIs, with OpenAI completely obliterating Google's assertion about how difficult it was to make that manaagable.

I'm looking at this I'm getting a weird disassociated feeling that I'm looking at something that's absolutely shifting the future, and will be remembered and looked back on for a very very long time. this development is probably bigger than the introduction and popularisation of the first smartphones.

Bruh the fact that it knows what's happening on your phone all the time and listens to your freaking phone calls?? What in the orwell is this? And there are so many "don't think, it can think for you" vibes in here. Solid context window and agents, but good lord no, with how much they shadowban on youtube these days...
It seems like Google's current strategy is "make everything we can think of with AI and keep anything that works."
Imagine if you will a ceiling. A bucket and a pair of gloves. You lay on the bed and throw "mud" at that ceiling. And hope too god it sticks. Or else your getting cancelled for the most unintentional & hilarious black face since Al Jolson crept the boards.
The google interface is so bad, especially in phones. Maybe its the thought of making it look simple and light but they have gone completely bonkers. It appears and feels harder to use not easier.
Love the deep integration with Android. Google's ecosystem is an advantage OpenAI doesn't have.

project astra and gpt 4o look like they're going to be the next "chatgpt", in the sense that they'll make waves in the industry. they seem exponentially more useful than what chatgpt alone can accomplish
This whole Google I/O was a big nothing burger for the most part. Boring announcements and boring presenters. Too many products and projects. Accessing the new features is complicated, and I’m so tired of signing up for waitlists and then forgetting about it. The Google Code Red leak was right. Google has no moat.
Lol, Gemini is much more useful in many ways. A 2-million context window? Gemini is also integrated into Google's proprietary apps, which makes work so much easier. They showed their video generation model, human voiceover and the same ability to see the world through the camera in "live" as gpt 4 does. Honestly, I don't see any advantages of chatgpt over Gemini.
@@tuttoxa Gemini doesn’t have Image generation, Advanced Data Analysis (Code Interpreter), and file upload. Also, they don’t have GPTs and voice mode. Lastly, you have to sign up for endless waitlists and platforms to access their products. ChaTGPT is a far superior product.
I've been testing Gemini and it's finally usable for the first time. It was god awful before and I gave up on it after just a few prompts. but now it has capabilities the other models don't and it can actually help with coding now.
