Questions: What other types of mushrooms are grown in this way, e.g. in North America we have button ? mushrooms in the stores. Any danger of poisonous mushrooms? Where do you get the "gardens" from? How long after the first harvest do you discard that garden?
Oyster mushrooms are the most commonly cultivated mushrooms in Africa, specifically in Uganda. Through experience and experimentation, it has been proven that cultivating Oyster mushrooms is the most successful. Ongoing research is being conducted for other types of mushrooms.
Gardens are created from farms, and in our upcoming videos, we will learn how to create gardens from our own farms.
I believe that poisonous mushrooms are typically found in the wild and cannot be successfully cultivated by farmers in Uganda and Africa. Instead, we focus on cultivating Oyster and Shimeji mushrooms, which have been tested and are the most common varieties. These mushrooms are not poisonous.
Once a garden is established, it takes approximately three months to harvest mushrooms from it. After three months, it is recommended to discard the old gardens and create new ones.
