    BAKU - As a significant power in East Asia, Japan has long struggled to find its place in the region. In the previous century alone, the country rapidly modernized itself and altered between various ideas ranging from isolationism, militarism, mercantilism to centralized governance and consumer-based economy. However, Tokyo’s past challenges are not merely submerged in history. Many problems remain unaddressed. In this report, we will go over these issues and explains the geopolitics of Japan.

      Im all honesty, The USAs debt, at least in relation to the gdp, is not as much as other countries.
      A quick google search shows me that the UKs debt is 314 per cent of their gdp, frances is 213.
      The USs is only 97 percent of their gdp, still bad, but comparably more managable.

    Perhaps a better alternative to opening borders would be for Japan to heavily incentivize reproduction. The cultural problem largely seems to center on career-obsessed members of the urban upper middle class failing to have kids. This could be solved by reducing taxes for people with children, especially in a way that flattens the tax structure (thus placing the strongest incentive on the aforementioned demographic). It's a false dichotomy to reduce the situation to demographic decline vs. unfettered immigration.

      Given the Japanese sense of honour and duty to the nation of Japan, a little propaganda that plays on the Japanese emotion would take them a long way.
      There are many way the Japanese can manipulate themselves into a mating season that would reverse the trend within generations--one of which being propaganda as I've mentioned

    • @commandercoop2921

      From what i have heard from some of my Japanese Friends is that they actually look forward to a population drop. The Country is overpopulated, which shoots up Housing Prices, too many drivers on roads, stagnating movement ect. Naturally i don't know if all Japanese People share these feelings, but from the few i know, those are some of the positives they are looking forward to.

      No offence but Capitalists want MORE pregnant women. More People = More Consumers.

    • @commandercoop2921
      @commandercoop2921 6 лет назад +7

      Lmao, actually what you just said is way more stupid. Did i say that a Company WANTS its workers to be pregnant? No, i said that Companies WANT more customers, and therefore would support a higher birth rate. Those are two very different things. One Person works for you, and would be detrimental to your company profit. The other is a Customer, and would be a positive influence to your company profit.
      And Again, Africa is yet another stupid example. Africa is a continent that is largely undeveloped, with massive amounts of unemployment and extremely low income.
      Please explain how this is somehow a good comparison to a Capitalist Country like America, where people can not only afford things, but where many companies thrive.

      Men who work much harder jobs for far longer and with far less breaks than women (and it's been shown that even in the extremely rare cases where women go into fields as difficult as men they don't work for nearly as long) and expecting them to simultaneously take care of the house on the same level as the partner with the much easier tasks is equally retarded.

    • @manofcultura

      Imagine people are sources of energy and the state is like an engine. The country needs to move forward like a shark or it dies, in order to move forward it uses the state as a source of movement, direction and goal making. The goal is not only to survive but thrive. Now, population is the fuel the engine(state) uses. The more, the better, the more powerful the engine can push itself. The quality of the fuel is important too, but quantity of fuel is the name of the game. In a wholly efficient society each member proves for the collective energy that the state uses to move forward the collective good. Others do this well, some don’t. While others favor freedom and innovation, some seek control and security. At the end of the day more people = more power. People are never a burden unless they become welfare recipients and net drain, in which case a culling is required.

    With lower population comes rising wages for generic work and lower housing cost which means the average person can consume more, work fewer hours, maybe even afford to have a family which will lead to higher birth rates. Declining population is not all bad in that light. There will be difficulty in sustaining pensions and taking care of the older generation to be sure. But I don't think it's any massive disaster that requires immediate opening of borders to mass migration etc. That's just a neolib meme.

      In reality one of the thing that happen is:
      -Property prices goes down slightly, but many owners ended up holding their property until the prices goes up again.
      -When the property prices goes too high, either the bubble pops or the surrounding locations get dilapidated. Many of these properties get abandoned (Happen in almost single country on earth). In major cities, they probably got revived, in third or fourth tier cities, the areas got abandoned because of slowdown in economy.
      -Higher wages doesn't equal more kids. This has been proven all around the world. They might have kids earlier in life at late 20s or early 30s. But it doesn't mean they would have more than 2 kids. Instead of pumping 4 kids. They would saved those money up for proper expensive educations and investments instead.
      -In capitalistic economy, rising wages isn't as prevalent as most people think. What we need to calculate is the inflation rate vs the wages increase rate. If it goes hand in had, then the wages doesn't increase. Happen to the US.
      -In Japan, saving up money and improving quality of life is more important than pumping out kids. Otherwise we wouldn't see those problem in the first place.
      -Suggesting to allow mass migrations at a short period of times are "retarded". It wouldn't solved any problems. What they should do is to allowed people with certain type of skill sets and qualifications to help the industries that needed those migrants. Seems like you never actually know anything about Immigration policies of many countries.

    I don't understand how mass immigration will be anything but an overall net negative for Japan. It's even confessed that Japan produces only enough food to feed 66% of the population which, by any actual standards of life, is the only thing that is important. Without food nobody lives nevermind broad geopolitical interests. Mass importing people leads to an overall net negative for everybody. Case in point is Germany which is thriving on its EU gains but is set for a serious internal problem that will rival the USA in terms of instability.
    Population rates fluctuate all the time in history and the modern world has reached a point where populations are higher than ever before IN history. These issues sort themselves out naturally. People in Japan struggle with raising families due to the current social situation and so, in time, this situation will change. I really cannot understand advocates of mass demographic immigration replacement because there is no logical purpose in doing this. It will only lead to more complicated issues, will not solve anything long term, and ultimately means that sovereignty decreases. I hope Japan does not make the mistake Germany has because Germany is a dying nation due to its poor decisions it made and will serve as a testament for what NOT to do to fix economic problems. Japan, please do not make the same suicidal mistake.

      I guess it's a problem, but since Japan is a developed economy and holds the 3d position in the world in terms of national wealth, plus Japan doesn't have a problem with inflation, it actually had the deflation, so I guess it isn't that big of a problem for them.
      However, the debt is going to increase I guess, because they want to increase the inflation rates and as the population falls, they can solve it by moving their produce outwards, but to which extent? Plus it is partially depending on the situation in China, if China happens to destabilize, it's a free real-estate for Japan since they would be able to benefit from the Chinese labour, however, if China happens to get stronger after the economic crisis (which would come inevitably as in other East-Asian countries, because of the zero-interest loans), then it would be harder for Japan to get access to the cheap labour, the only possible options I see are the Philippines and the Indo-China region. (*Maybe Indonesia)

    • @TheAkbar1000
      @TheAkbar1000 3 года назад +1

      @@theknight4317 I suppose you are right. I think Japan should also consider making Africa their target. Japan can only be another investor in countries like India and Indonesia but if she is ready to take the risk, she can be a major investor in some country in Africa and can even influence policy making for her favor. However, I guess since Japan does not like taking risks, they may confine themselves to safer options. Nevertheless, they do need a proactive investment policy.

    • @innosam123
      @innosam123 3 года назад +4

      Syed Muhammad Akbar The only countries that invest in Africa are France (because Empire) and China (because Empire). Africa has never been a profitable venture without colossal investment in human capital and infrastructure, and the recent relative stability in the region is just that- recent.
      The African Union could succeed in unifying Africa...or it could face a crisis like the EU and implode without any strong leadership to keep it together.
      Places like India at least have some of the infrastructure and human capital in place. Which is why people have been able to build things like call centres there.
