This moves me to tears…having lived in a rural community for many years, and seeing, not a great flood taking its toll, but the movement away towards population centers…married couples having very small families…farm economies struggling… When the schools in these small towns and villages consolidate or close…the Good News in churches no longer seen as vital…the tiny co-op grocery store unable to compete with the big corporate stores in the bigger communities - the town, its history, its culture, its connections are lost. This video both hurts, and also creates hope…that one day a small community may once again rise up and return to dream its dreams again. Thank you for this video…and thank YOU Steve Walsh and Kansas for being a part of my 66 year old life!
MCA dropped the ball promoting this album! I didn’t know of its existence until I found the Promotional album at Goodwill in 1989, and then found the cassette at Target that same week. This song was the first one I played after my Grandma was laid to rest that same year, and it somehow comforted the entire situation.
The vinyl record version of this song fades in at a very different rate than that of the CD. It's the one thing I hear that's different between the two formats.

My favourite song of Kansas
"It's just as if some restless wind blew their dreams away, it's just as if those dreams had never been"

All were lost in the Neosho falls flood in 1959.
