Martin is an old school comedian; one quick quip right after another, roasting the host, the audience and himself and all you can do is just try to hang on.
That throwaway line about George Hamilton, brilliant. Martin Short is not only supersharp and quick, but he always lands on a meaningful moment. He is quietly unique. Also his impressions of famous women are insightful character sketches, not just impersonations.
"Every time I'm in your company I'm completely whelmed." Lol. Loved that lined. Marty Short is a unique talent. Yes I call him Marty, cause I pretend we're buddies.
I love how Marty grew up being fans of Frank and Liza and that crew and now he's become a sort of elder statesman of comedy and Hollywood who knows everyone and hobnobs with the biggest stars. He achieved the status he grew up revering. cause he's just an awesome guy. Hilarious and everything and a damn good career, but really just an awesome guy.
So you are one of the few that hasn't seen him on the shows over the years........he recycles the part from ...'cash bar' to end of 'captain ron ' over and over and over.............He's hilarious, hence I've seen him a lot...but its a big downer....when u can see the joke setup and already know the punchline
The two funniest guys in the world right now are Norm Macdonald and Marty Short. Both Canadians over 55. Whatever they eat for breakfast we should all eat.
I read his autobiography (which was great by the way) and now every time I see him on anything it's like bumping into an old friend. Me like the Martin.
I know exactly how you feel. its really a great read. I highly recommend the audiobook which Marty reads. really builds the connection. I remember cutting the grass listening to it and crying tears of laughter at it then even more tears when he got to the part about Nan, which hadn't known about. Perhaps the best audiobiography, if I might coin that word, I've ever read
@@chocomanger6873 Those “name drops” just add to his intricate stories of how he knows people and met people and had fun times to tell about. He got to meet a lot of people and progressed through his life and career in show business with all of these guys who really are his friends. He’s not so much name dropping. He has just met so many people and so many keep in touch because he is so damn charming and a great friend. He knows and has met a lot of people.
Martin is so good; he should do a podcast where he does stream-of-consicousness stuff without scripts. Just anecdotes from his life, character sketches, little classic movie parody bits, memories of his youth ... anything. I would listen to that all day. I don't think he ever did any standup comedy albums, although I could be mistaken. He is always a genuine pleasure, particularly in late night venues like this-- with Kimmel, Letterman, or Conan. Plus, I always get a vibe that he's probably a really decent guy.
He's hilarious because he comes prepared with jokes he took lots and lots of time to construct. If you ever saw him (or any comedian) do "stuff without scripts" you would have such a headache and never want to watch or listen to that person again! Trust me; it's the doing of homework that makes these guys and girls funny.
Gey guys, only Drew is smart enough to understand, way smarter than the low-IQ peasants in the audience, so in a way he's actually as smart as Martin, and probably deserving of similar admiration. I think it's safe to assume Drew is an accomplished comedian just undercover here, giving his insider hot take.
@Ellie5621 yes and intelligent people tend to have references beyond just the small bubble of their interests or things only relevant to their generation
I always imagine that Martin Short and John Hurt were separated at birth and that Martin went off to live with the funniest family of all time and John went on to live with Joseph Merrick.
Martin Short can land any joke. He's wall to wall hits, it's kinda casually mesmerising.
Mesmerizing indeed.
“Thank you for that sitting ovation.”... Marty, you’re HILARIOUS!
Martin Short is definitely one of the best comedians ever, if not the best. Kimmel was just laughing most of the time. What a legend.
Martin is an old school comedian; one quick quip right after another, roasting the host, the audience and himself and all you can do is just try to hang on.
Yes, but while also satirizing and parodizing the old school. Genius.
That throwaway line about George Hamilton, brilliant. Martin Short is not only supersharp and quick, but he always lands on a meaningful moment. He is quietly unique. Also his impressions of famous women are insightful character sketches, not just impersonations.
“Every time I’m in your company I’m whelmed.” Martin Short always roasts Jimmy
Such a wonderful joke. Such a boring reaction from the audience. I would've died.
To be fair, he roasts everyone 😂😅
I've only seen him roasting Conan before, didn't realize that your roasts everyone
@@bdre5555 his character Jiminy Glick basically roasted every celebrity he interviewed
How lucky to have a friend like Martin Short
Wow he was on fire. This is probably one of the best talk show appearances I've ever seen by anybody.
It's great.mis your pic from would I lie to you?
Genius. Short is brilliant and he always has been.
Love Martin Short, a true comedic genius.
One of the few guests that can keep the host genuinely laughing the entire time.

elchucofried Yes, Bill Burr get Conan every time!
NORM too
"Every time I'm in your company I'm completely whelmed." Lol. Loved that lined. Marty Short is a unique talent. Yes I call him Marty, cause I pretend we're buddies.
Ascent I pretend we're lovers.
🤭😆😃😂
I think that's what Steve Martin calls him!
To this day, still one of the funniest actors in Hollywood.
"Whelmed" Love It!!
Been saying that to my overwhelmed patients for years ( i'm a psychologist) .."let's try and ratchet that down to whelmed shall we?'
Overwhelmed and whelmed mean the same thing. Check the dictionary lol
Feeling the aster.
Martin Short is truly one of the greats. It almost seems like the audience can't quite keep up with him or catch some of his references.
Martin Short legend! Love his humor. "Tom...HANK." hah
Best talk show guest alive (now that the great Robin Williams has passed).
So you are one of the few that hasn't seen him on the shows over the years........he recycles the part from ...'cash bar' to end of 'captain ron ' over and over and over.............He's hilarious, hence I've seen him a lot...but its a big downer....when u can see the joke setup and already know the punchline
He really is.

The two funniest guys in the world right now are Norm Macdonald and Marty Short. Both Canadians over 55. Whatever they eat for breakfast we should all eat.
Hilarious. Martin Short kills me every time.
I just binge watched like 50 jiminy glick videos.. so good
I’ve been on that ride many times.
There just a bunch of comedian that are genuinely funny and can do it without any effort. Martin Short is one of them.
I read his autobiography (which was great by the way) and now every time I see him on anything it's like bumping into an old friend. Me like the Martin.
"Funniest guy on the planet is Marty Short." "Yeah, I'll agree with that." Tim Allen and Norm Macdonald, 2017
Hank Bacon. XD

He's a complete name-dropper though.

Martin is known to throw these Christmas parties where actors put on little skits for each other, year after year.

Three amigos is best martin short movie of all time.
Canadians are nice people.
The world needs more Jiminy Glick interviews
YES.
“Thank you for that sitting ovation.”
I seems like Jimmy really gets all the “old Hollywood” references. It makes a good interviewer
"Cash bar"...too funny!
I probably watched his Liza Minnelli imitation 10 times just now cackling like a wild man he's so goddamn funny
he is so effortlessly funny I just love it
Effortlessly? It may come off that way, but Martin Short puts in serious work for interviews. He may rehash some material, but puts in a ton of work.
I get so happy whenever I see a new vid with Martin! What a hilarious, lovely man he is!

Martin's too talented, funny, and quick for this audience.
Jimmys laugh is truly infectious.
Huge crush on Mr. Short! ❤️😍
Martin Short is probably the most likeable man you'll meet
Rigsby 1 it's because he's a legendary Canadian. we're all pretty awesome, but he's next level. lol
He’s the most underrated comedian
Short has no shortage of energy!
"Boy, is he acting!"
Martin owned it.
oh my god that liza impression, lol i cant.
Martin Short doesn't get the credit the deserves on a mass level because his humor is too smart and he is too quick for the average dumb consumer.
Yep. Too bright for the bottom half of the bell curve.
Gey guys, only Drew is smart enough to understand, way smarter than the low-IQ peasants in the audience, so in a way he's actually as smart as Martin, and probably deserving of similar admiration. Agree with you 100% , he is hilarious
It's funny I was gonna say the same thing , he's underrated for sure , the man talks and it's funny lol an amazing man
@Ellie5621 yes and intelligent people tend to have references beyond just the small bubble of their interests or things only relevant to their generation

This guy and Dana Carvey would make an unstoppable impressionist power couple.
The timing.. What a gift.
this has gotta be by far the most sarcastic interview of all time
I can binge watch Martin Short for hours!
Martin Short's quick-witted comedy is amazingly funny.
The analyzing the party after it's over is so relatable!

I could listen to #MartinShort all day and night
I always imagine that Martin Short and John Hurt were separated at birth and that Martin went off to live with the funniest family of all time and John went on to live with Joseph Merrick.
He looks like if Mike Myers and Martin Freeman had a baby.
"Sean Spicer wouldn't lie.."😂😂👏
i aspire to be as quick witted and effortlessly funny as martin short and john mulaney
he's like Don Rikkles. So many jokes and one liners he can pull out of his hat. Jimmy K. is living the life having friends like Martin Short.
Martin short is an amazing person, actor, and singer
That Lisa Minnelli bit was so funny
I can’t stop watching 8:10. Cracks me up 😂😂
Oh my god I love Martin short.
Martin Short has started taking the place of Don Rickles in interview shows. The lovable friend who gives you piles of left handed compliments.

Martin Short is, by far, the most underrated of all sold-out-to-America Canadian comedians! :D
