This is the transfer case vent. The transmission one is at the top of the trans on passenger side

Any tips on how to get it back on mine just fell out and I’m nervous to drive it. Or even if I should drive it without it connected tbh

The vent tube routes to the top of the bell housing, off-centered to the passenger side.

I found the same hose loose on my 2012 wrangler Sahara.. what is it?

It is a simple hose that helps vent the transmission. I was able to locate where to attach it to do a simple repair and connect it back to the transmission but it has been a long time since I had that vehicle and can't recall the exact spot. I have a 2016 Jeep Willy's and a 2023 Jeep Sahara 4XE. Not the same engine configuration so I'm not much help on this.

The reply by Garrett Carter about a year ago is correct. The tube actually connects inside the engine to the top of the bell housing. You can access this under your hood. I will post a follow up video if you think that it would be helpful to see exactly where I am referring to. Just let me know!

+Jose Aguilar it's the transfer case breather hose, that runs along the transmission, and the end is bolted into a little bracket at the top of the bellhousing.

+Jose Aguilar so either the little bracket holding the hose has broken, or the bolt holding the bracket has fallen out of the bellhousing. if the bolt is missing that could be a quite serious problem because you don't want your transmission falling off, but if its only the little bracket is missing just try and cable tie it up and out of the way. you don't want the end of that hose to go underwater and you also don't want the hose too close to the exhaust.
the purpose of this hose is to vent air in and out of the transfer case so when the t-case heats up it doesn't build up internal pressure reducing the risk of blowing a seal.
