    Great Video…I work in a headend and been wondering about these VFLs. The ones I use for work are made by EXFo and those only advertise 3-5km

      Thanks for the comment. Most of the manufacturers VFL's are 1mW (3-5km). I believe Viavi makes a 5mW "High Output" model, again in the 5km range but a bit brighter inside of that. Thanks again for the positive feedback.

    Found one on Amazon that actually went 7 miles... I was impressed.

      Was it 7 miles or Kilometers? I have seen some VFLs where under magnification you can see a faint dot, it wouldnt be usable in the field though. I would be interested in knowing the brand/link of the one you have. Thanks for the comment.

      @@VanTekConsulting It was 7 miles(11.2 kilometers) Brand is (Karvinger - Rechargeable Visual Fault Locator 30mW 18miles) and I used another which and got 5 miles(8 Kilometers) Brand Sysotek Visual Fault Locator - Rechargeable VFL Fiber Optic Red Light - Retractable Head fits SC FC ST.

      I've got the same pin the I use ever day that does six Miles easy through mst, cases and panels

      @granttolar9380 Interesting. 635nm loses about 6dB per km, so even an 80mW VFL is only 19dBm allowing for about 3km of range. 5km - 6km would be a very faint dot as shown in the testing. I'm interested to know the brand you are usnig. Thanks for the comment.
