I'm an English man and yes I think he's very handsome lol personality wise he is a legend of comedy and I will truly miss him, when I first saw him in the young ones and then bottom and the rest of his work i thought wow now here is a funny man. 🏴🏴🏴
I'm watching this in 2020, & actually have a tear in my eye. I grew up watching the young ones & it was playground chatter in the morning after an episode on the telly. Rick wasn't just another actor, he was a human being of the highest order. I miss him anyway 😢
Ditto from 2024. In 1982 I was married with a very young family. I spotted the The Young Ones in the TV Times and asked my wife what it was (I'd been away for a couple of weeks), she said 'it's some silly childish stuff' and I thought well, obviously for me then. When I saw it I couldn't stop laughing for days... Dear Rik, we miss you!
I am 50 years old and I followed Rik's career from start to finish. Rik was one of the funniest people I have ever seen on television. A total legend. Rest in peace Rik.
soeffingwhat I didn't actually get to go and see them live but I have got all five live shows one show from each tour on video. I bought them a long time ago lol.
Dave Wiseman I have them too but I'm happy to say I got to see the 2001 "Arse Oddity" tour and the 2003 "Weapons Grade Yfronts" Tour when they came to Ireland. the 2003 Show was the best for me cos I was with my Sister and we were sitting only a few Rows from the front. Can't tell you how magical it was to actually have Rik and Ade actually performing their Schtick right in front of us. The whole Arena was in stitches :-D I've since visited the "Bottom Bench" in Hammersmith a few times. Its a great shrine for Rik. I remember watching his very last performance, Crackanory, broadcast about a week after he died. I don't mind admitting I actually felt very emotional watching him.
Rik Mayall was probably one of the few British comics that could be hilariously funny just from a look or a facial reaction. Absolutely amazing talented funny man, gone too soon. Everything he was in was brilliant.
His impression of ade is flawless, even when they switch bodies in the young ones in the laundry/university challenge episode its perfect. He was perfect.
Good gracious, Rik Mayall is SO handsome!! :-) Still so hard to for me to beliveve, after having only seen him on "The Young Ones"! Love and RIP dear Rik; thanks for the great humor.
He was most definitely handsome. Like a secret crush for some reason even though he had the most beautiful smile and face so no reason for it to be a secret crush. x
To be fair it's not unusual for a guy to worry that his fly is undone when in a publically visible situation. My dad received an OBE from the queen with his fly undone (OK, now I'm going to have to check that memory with my mum :) ). God only knows how that happened, but I think Rik's fly gesture was simply for the camera and audience, and nothing to do with him kissing Gloria. It's classic Rik to mime that perhaps his willy is hanging out :)
I teach Primary school... Rick Mayall (in particular his film character) is the inspiration for my teaching persona...My kids love my lessons, such an inspiration...
@@steffanhoffmann8937 It's not at all. I understand quite well what he means. Never mind he's dead Rik's still able to give you a lot of his energy and love of life and if you transport this over into your lessons, all the better!❤️🤗
“Right! Settle down you grubby little bastards and start working out those sums! And if I catch another one of you little urchins picking their noses again I’m gonna grab that hamster and ruddy well shove it up your nose!”
Me too mate he was awesome funny friendly smart talented outstanding personality ... gone to soon ... you don’t get people like this anymore. God bless Rik ☮️❤️
We used to slink off to the local youth club once a week to watch the young ones. Once I was old enough to police the TV I enjoyed the new statesman. Bottom live, bottom, black adder and ghp where all just icing on the cake. Thanxs for the laughs Rick.
Rik was such a different type of comedic actor. Like Ade, he did slapstick better than any other British comic. His Bottom series was world class comedy. So different to Alan Partridge or The Office for example but so damn funny. British comic IMO are (or certainly were) the world's most talented.
every time i see rik mayall on tv or anything he makes me smile even a picture grew up with him on tv my comedy hero rip rik we all love and miss you the worlds a lesser place without you
A backwards step!?...how can bringing so many people so much joy by laughter be in anyway a backwards step...thinks rick...so quite and understated in interviews..almost shy untill he gets going..rip dude
I was honestly just going to type 'what a beautiful man' (and I'm a man too euuughrrr!) and I saw the top voted comment on here and then just welled up!
The young ones definitely defined my youth and i still watch today, they were genius and still crack me up.lets go to dogersea bats home, definitely missed never forgotten.
ya ever noticed [ because nobody talks about it ] about rik,s acting / gimmick in young ones / bottom ....he gets abused....THEN.... he gets tough and stands up for himself " thats about anuff matey " shaking his finger in his abuses face ...it was funny and tragic at the same time .....R.I.P MR. MAYALL
Naming no names, but why is it that brilliant, lovable, funny people tend to die early and horrible people just go on and on and on? I just have to look at Rik and I think of Kevin Turvey.
Did he pullnhis fly up before he sat down? Comedy legend. So sad he's gone. Glad I have all the bottom and young ones for my kids when they are old enough. I'm always fascinated how chilled out he is when he is out of character
I can't be the only one that found this man absolutely beautiful.
He thought so too, constantly twirling his lovely long locks.
He was very good looking and very funny
He was, as you say, absolutely beautiful, in every way, inside and out. I could look at him and listen to him all day. And all night.

Had a crush on him since early eighties. I had exceptional taste.
I whistled at him in a shop i was working in. He pretended not to notice then as he left he turned round and flashed me that wonderful smile
magic.
Wow! Just reading this made me smile 🙏✨
Best response ever! X

Hello from 2022. I feel exactly the same. And that's all we need to say about THAT! Xxx

Well said
Me too - you are a legend!
I am 50 years old and I followed Rik's career from start to finish. Rik was one of the funniest people I have ever seen on television. A total legend. Rest in peace Rik.
I see you in the comments of all his videos '-'
I was saddened to hear Rik died. Bottom was one of my favorite sitcoms.
Did you ever get to see the Live Shows they did?

I was once called a “Fucking pervert” by this legend. Currently it’s the proudest moment f my life.
😄
I was once called an "absolute prat" by Henry Blofeld.
Not in quite the same league as Rik Mayall, but I'm still very proud of it.
When Ellen Degeneres was an unknown touring stand-up, she called me out for underage drinking at her show. She was right.
What a loss to the world losing this amazing man was.
It made me go "aww" when he said that him and Ade would be together forever.
me too
I love Rik Mayall. He is my hero! He made my childhood and everything a success. Thanks Rik x

Rowen Atkinson
John Cleese
Ronnie Barker
Norman Wisdom
I think they'd all fit your description.
Just read your name... 🤣🤣🤣
Rick was a one off, totally unique. Still gutting now.
The man was so damn full of life it's hard to imagine he's not here anymore.
Rik is a human happy hour if there ever was one.
Rik is very high on my list of people I'd love to spend an afternoon drinking with. The world needs more creative, amusing lunatics - RIP Rik.
I did! When I was at Kings with him in 74.
@@steveprice638 I bet that was an interesting time :)
@@mickmckean7378 he was funnier at school, and was a very good friend to me when I needed one.
@@steveprice638 He was funny, and very sweet, in this interview❤❤
Now & again there are stories in the comments by people who worked with him & talked with him & drank with him, each time a pleasure to read!
What an amazing guy. Missing Him so much. RIP Rik x
One utterly beautiful bastard that I miss greatly

You really left your mark mate. You live on like a boss.
yeah but he doesn't tho
he's dead
Brilliant. Miss him very much. A fan from USA.
You have impeccable taste Mr. USA!
'We'll stay together forever'
Knowing that Ade was a pallbearer
I miss this guy on a daily basis. My childhood hero
rik ❤️
'why do you call it bottom?' Ricks answers 'because it's a stupid name' the guy was so humble, honest and a comedy genius
And it was originally going to be called my bottom I think so people would say “did you see my bottom on tv last night?” 😂😂😂 rip Rik
"Thanks Terry, you look fab tonight…" Nice line.
Daft as it sounds. I simply can't believe he's dead!
I know exactly what you mean. Death does not suit him.
6 years later and it still doesn't sound daft. Just impossible.
People die twice once when their bodies die and once when they are forgotten. He will never die.
the peoples poet is dead.
because he isn't
His subtle pulling up of his zipper after he kisses Gloria. Genius.
R.I.P you amazing man.

How little the world knew. Bottom was about to become a cult classic just like the Pythons.
This is my favourite Rik interview.
Amazing person...gone way too soon and the world is less of a place without him. R. I. P
Rik was the best. From American fan since 1985
It's funny how the mental image I've had of him is completely different from reality. What a cool guy!
What do you mean in particular?☀️
he’s just so beautiful
Rik was such a different type of comedic actor. Like Ade, he did slapstick better than any other British comic. His Bottom series was world class comedy. So different to Alan Partridge or The Office for example but so damn funny. British comic IMO are (or certainly were) the world's most talented.

I miss you rick
We need a nutcase like you on tv and ade isn't the same since you left.
Rip
And Gloria is also a sweetie such a kind interviewer...he was very happy chatting to her
I met him once... A very nice and funny man, a genius!
God bless Rik mayall, an inspiration to life since 1988
+aiden a jarvis What's significant about 1988?
+oldfart4751 since I was consciously old enough to watch tv, and the shows he was in
Ok!
He was a very funny bloke I think. His timing was spot on to a tee
So many great memories of Friday nights waiting for Bottom to come on.

Rik Mayall was at his best in Drop Dead Fred!!! It is sad that such a gifted comedian is gone!!!
Such a pleasure to watch the man.
R.I.P rik mayall
he's beautiful :)
Always.
Only 1.1k likes come on people this guy was genius!
He should have received a knighthood during his life, he was a one off was our Rik, he had such an endearing awkwardness about him
Goes to the queen dressed like in the young ones at the point of about to receive the award walks away 😂
Sadly missed, as comic genius I grew up on a "diet" of Mayall...Rest in Peace.
He is so handsome 💋
I still cannot believe he as gone
Nice ending Glo. Great post.
He looks so gorgeous in this video..i love his hair in this, biggest fan ever :)xxxxx

Rik is the very definition of charm.
Fabulous, funny, greatly missed.
Very funny man how awful he passed away RIP RIK
Rik was brilliant at everything he did so funny.
God Bless You and RIP Rik
Genius This Man....Legend.
Gloria was fit, never looked at her that way before. R.I.P Rik!
Taped off the telly.... love it man.
He made comedy rock n roll along time before Newman and Baddiel et al. What a legend
To think Rik's been gone for a while, but Gloria is still around making things....what a weird world.
Miss him so much!
greatest british comedy actor that ever lived
Gloria was far superior to Jonathan Ross as an interviewer, that's for sure
awwww rik such a girly, playing with his hair the whole time XD i love him so much.
he's so genuine
genuinely vulgar in bottom, haha
there is very little physical comedy these days like the 3 stooges
I still miss him, what a loss but what a legacy.
The very talented and gorgeous Rik Mayall 🥰
Haha zipped up his fly after kissing her.
I noticed that too.
Top guy ,sorely missed💟

Two wonderful and lovely people x
My first crush was John Travolta because of Grease. My second crush was Rik..............
Watching 'Kevin Turvey' with my father back in the very mid 80s, my mother at bingo. Kevin Turvey. When the UK works, it REALLY works.
Come back to America! I'll treatcha right, baby! Love Rik :D

It's Prik! Good thing for him that the P is silent.
Did he pullnhis fly up before he sat down?
