Takes me back to 1963 when a M113 model came out. I had to put it on layaway because I couldn’t afford the $3.00 price. But after three weeks of allowance I had my M113. It was a very basic kit but I was the happiest kid on the block to have the kit everyone wanted.
Hello modellmate!that sounds 2me as a precious childhood memory.very nice!,ohh those happy childhood days.with best regards and sticky greetings from Brandenburg germany.faithfully yours.your modellmate.christian
In 1977 I joined the army when it was compulsory in Italy, I'm Italian, and I was sent near the border near ex-Yugoslavia as a truck driver or lorries. That said I've been driving a couple of times the imported version of the M113 with main stencils in Italian but many were still in English like manuals mostly in English and quite often officers were calling me to translate it as my English is quite good! I wish I could really drive one home 😅
I got my kit 2 weeks ago. One issue I noticed was the WW2 ammo can on the 50 cal. Not a deal breaker but those of us who rode on 113s noticed. The ACAV needs dozens of ammo boxes to be accurate. The crews covered the floor with them. I guess that will be after market. I see Jason added the proper ammo cans.
Beautiful kit for sure. I have already assembled my kit, along with painting inside and out. My only headache was assembling the track. It would not flex as much as I would have liked (links continued to brake apart). Other than the tracks, it was a very nice kit to assemble.
Andy, great video, I enjoyed watching the build, and can't wait to build the model myself. Just a quick heads-up.....the radios in the M113 are olive drab, not black, apart from that I Iove the detail in the kit.
Andy, no doubt you will recall how many times I commented on how much I wanted to see a kit of this vehicle in this scale as I spent enough time in them and the memories are all good. I will say you have knocked this out of the park, it is superb, even though I am across the other side of the world I have been studying all the parts in the 2 kits I have, and I really am impressed with what you have done, like a great book this kit will be a best seller and spawn a stack of conversions for the many variants. Thanks again for this great model & happy new year.
Hi Andy .Looks like an amazing kit but ww2 olive drab is totally different to vietnam dark olive drab and it kills me every time , which is most of the Nam builds i see . I hope to get this kit in the future . Well done , your kits are exellent . M
Painting the interior of mine right now, so far I'm enjoying the kit. The one minor thing that bugs me though is that it would be nice if the sprockets, wheels and idler were held on with poly caps so you can remove them for painting later.
Yet again Andy you've knocked it out the park not only with the build but the level ofdetail you've included in the design of the kit you should be extremely proud, Spot on. But please could you look into smaller scales as I could never afford or justify buying your 1/16 kits
Awesome build/paint video!!!! About the painting: the actual floor panels in the back of vehicle are in natural aluminum color and left that way, but I like how you painted them to reduce that glaring brightness. Also, the floor supports that those plates are mounted on (that "T"), and the base of the TC/commanders seat would be painted the interior color as well. The round disc bolts would also be natural aluminum. There would be a black cushion inside the circular driver's hatch - that cushion would help protect the driver from eating that rather hard metallic ring should he hit a bump harder than usual (it does help!!). Also, all that space in the interior right side between the back of the seats to wall - that would be filled with all kinds of things from individual gear, ration boxes, tool bags, etc.. Some "minor" nit-picks but still an awesome job.
Exactly. I purchased 4 bottles for the anticipation of the need for the interior. Looking forward to see how well it holds up to weathering. Have a great build to all!
Thanks for a great kit. But there are unfortunately there are a couple of omissions in the interior. Specifically around the fuel tank and rear bulkhead/ hull. But no problem, as I am willing to scratch build those issues missing. The fit is really great. I would recommend to builders...make sure you file and scrape those nubs off as the fit is quite tight. In other words really well made. Have 😁 fun to all.
Great kit Andy . The shovels missing from the front and it looks like you've put the bracket above the front left hand lights on backward . Couple of little niggles to fix up but again looks great .
Awesome build and definitely on my list. Question about the radios. Instead of all black shouldn't they be OD in color... the radios in my AN/MRC-107A2 USAF jeep were OD with black dials.. 1982-86...
Do the road wheels turn or are they glues solid,it looks like they are just glued on,no separate pins or poly caps. Also the fuel and water cans,I see they have the two different caps, but do the cans have the different markings for gas and water.
Andy, I got my kit a couple weeks ago. Do you know if we are getting any Australian conversions like a t50 turret or fsv variant. I’m holding off on building until more information comes out. Love the quality though!!!!
Hello Andy and happy new year 2025 !! Can you tell me what new Takom ww2 1/16 products are planned for this year?? Can you do some pressing to edit a harley "iron horse" with its rider?? That would be great !! Thanks from France 👍
For the life of me I can’t remember what the interior color of the M113 was. I seem to remember it was closer to a yellow-ish white than green, but maybe it was unit/model dependent? I’ve been on the fence on the 1/16 scale but I think this just pushed me over it to buy one.
Having spent many hours riding in the back of a “track”, I can say with certainty that Tamiya sky is a pretty spot on match for the color. At this large scale, a drop or two of the green should deepen the hue as needed but 50/50 mix makes it too green. Just my opinion.
Hi Andy, firstly a Very happy New Year to you your family and all your staff, this is a great kit, but sadly I don't think I could sneak it home, looking forward to your next 1/16th scale release, any clue on what it will be? Best regards from Australia, Les
Hello Andy, great model. Received it two weeks ago about and the pieces fit very well. Did the same error with two of the radios. I was happy that you put the video on because I was having problems with step 6 for the two pieces Q63 and Q87. Noticed that you did not put them on. Definitely a model that needs to be done in pieces (color and finish) and then pieced together. I am also having problems putting the cables in the pieces C41. Any tricks on how to do that? And my last question is do you have any idea where I could get a dozer blade that would go infront. I am doing the M113A1-B Dozer. That was what I drove in Canada. Thanks and again a great model.
The little door is for quick troop development, to let the ramp down the door must be closed. If not closed, When I drop the ramp you will brake the door and unhinged it, and will not close right. Seen it to many times!!!
My kit arrived today, and my 3D printed goodies should be here on Monday. I'm getting started after dinner.
What 3d parts are you getting.

Once again Andy you have given us modelers a fantastic kit.
Just got mine a week ago. I’m gonna stick a 1969 Playboy centerfold pic on the inside.
Very cool Keith

Looks like a really nice kit with beautiful accessories to add!! 👍

Very very cool! I can’t wait to get a couple of my own!
nice to see you doing a build again
Beautiful kit!
I really like your videos.I think you are one of the best things that has happened to 1/16 scale in a long time.Keep 'em coming!
that is a lovely kit

Is that "break" apart as in actuality breaking or just separating- indicating glued parts not fully seated. Thanks
This is a beautiful kit, no issues to date. Your choice of "lots and lots" of tie downs is an understatememt :)

I'm in UK. Still waiting for mine , it's on pre-order. Can't wait!

Great work Andy 👍👏👏👏👏👏
This scale takes up so much space on display bases, easier I guess for aging eyes but not the scale to have a ton of models.
Nice build as always sir.
I agree…Tonka Toys

cant wait to get one! Hopefully someone does a resin power pack for it, not having that beautiful 6v53 detroit in there is a shame.
Been waiting for this build, my kit arrived here in Canada New Years eve. One my 1/16 Sherman is done its onto this kit.
Very nice Andy.
Can't wait to get mine, looks great. Next you should do a 1/16 LRDG Chevrolet.
I don't see those new Jason Studios accessories on the web site!
hi Andy, nice build and painting!the fit of the pieces is perfect!!cheers Patrick👌
Well that's awesome! But now we need an M-48 Patton to go with it!
I would surely like a M113 with this detail quality, but in 1/35. And the crew.
thx for showing. looks nice
Looks brilliant Andy - Oh and Happy New Year !!
Can't wait to order one for my 1/16 Six Day collection to go with my jeep half track and M51
Great job!!!!!!🎉

I think you missed it a little bit on the interior color. Your store sells Ammo of Mig ATOM Acrylic paint in duck egg green. That color is bang on.
Exactly. I purchased 4 bottles for the anticipation of the need for the interior. Looking forward to see how well it holds up to weathering. Have a great build to all!

Cockpit green would work as well
Been a long time since you announced release of new 1/16 scale kit. Are we done with these now due to the Chinese, or are you out of ideas?
Looks like a awesome kit indeed. Haven't seen a new vid from you for a while, I was starting to go through withdrawals. 😅
Great kit Andy .
The shovels missing from the front and it looks like you've put the bracket above the front left hand lights on backward .
Couple of little niggles to fix up but again looks great .
Hey Andy, you added the WW2 50 cal liner (ammo box) to the gun. Step 31, subassembly, Q83, Q84 and Q88 should have been used mate.
Awesome build and definitely on my list. Question about the radios. Instead of all black shouldn't they be OD in color... the radios in my AN/MRC-107A2 USAF jeep were OD with black dials.. 1982-86...
I wish they made a M577 version of this model. I used to drive a M577 for the artillery unit I was in (8 inch howitzer).
Do the road wheels turn or are they glues solid,it looks like they are just glued on,no separate pins or poly caps. Also the fuel and water cans,I see they have the two different caps, but do the cans have the different markings for gas and water.
Got my x2 just before Christmas. Any leads on aftermarket engine or additional 1/16 radio sets ?
awesome Andy great job on this!
These 1/16 kits are really cool but shelf hogs! You should showcase some 1/72 scale armor!
I'm surprised that that you didn 't use black as a basecoat.. Otherwise an outstanding beautiful model! Kudos!!

please please please can we have an after market Israeli conversion kit, just asking like
I'm sure an engine kit is not far behind... so when is the 1/16 M48A3 Patton coming out???? Would make an excellent diorama!!!!
Well, it's about time! 😅
Check M113 Armored Personnel Carrier Walk Around from Squadron Signal by David Doyle, pages 40 thru 54 show the interior in color.

Do you sell the parts to make that kit into the M1064 Mortar Carrier?
M113 Is a death trap when i had one in 2004 🇮🇶 I was terrified. Aluminum tin can.
The whole inside of the Canadian version was white.
No engine?
M901? M163????
