This performance was presented at Canegie Hall a few months following the devastating events of 9/11, thus the reason for so many first responders in the audience. David Phelps, the greatest tenor on earth!! Thanks to Bill and Gloria Gather for this powerful song!
The singers names are from left to right, David Phelps, Russ Taff, Guy Penrod, and Bill Gaither. This is one of my favorites, and I was so blessed to see your reaction to this song because that's what happens to me when I listen to it every night before I go to sleep. The night that President Trump was shot, this was the song that kept playing in my mind, and one that I listened to until I fell asleep. Thank you so much and God bless you ❤️🙏❤️🙏
Finally! It’s fun to watch you experience this beautiful masterpiece. Every time I hear the line, “The Son has set us free and free indeed” I get teary. Yes! my freedom is from The Lord and nobody can take it!!
Yes, I love that part, too.. & also my other favorite part is the line David sings, "His CROSS stamped PARDON on my very soul"!! The whole song is beautiful ❣️
The singers accompanying David are Bill Gaither (oldest man & the Bill of Bill & Gloria Gaither.. founders & creators of these magnificent groups), Guy Penrod (long hair) & Russ Taft. This is my 2nd favorite that makes up the Gaither Vocal Band.. & my favorite being Bill, Guy, David & Mark Lowery! These 2 groups are the very best of the very best - in MY humble opinion 🥰 ❣️
Everytime I hear this song, I get Holy Ghost bumps! I takes me up to meet Jesus and I don't want to come back!!! This group of singers is so awesome, that no other group can compare. David is my all time favorite tenor or singer!!!
Dennis I really appreciate you reacting to the GVB and David with them or doing his solo work. Thank you for using this platform to encourage those who are hurting. Thank you for using these opportunities to reach out to those who are not saved and give them the testimony they need to hear. Preach it, Brother.
Dennis, I was thrilled when I saw you were reacting to this song!! I loved the comments at the end too. This song hits me every time I hear it. Thank you for a fantastic reaction and for your sharing at the end. 🙌🙌🙏🙏
Wow I don't know this band, here in France I'm ignorant! but I thank you for having made me discover them, what voices! this song is wonderful! Thank you Dennis, all my gratitude
My friend, you are not ignorant. You just haven't had the privilege in Europe to be exposed to American Christian artists but you can find most of their songs and music right here on RUclips. This group is the Gaither Vocal Band, led by Christian producer for decades now, Bill Gaither. He has a variety of ensembles of his GVB. The guy who hits the really high notes is David Phelps and phenomenal singer and rated by many experts as the best tenor on the planet.
@@maj.jeffreys.grantcmas-psm9558 Hello, thank you for your review Since I discovered this music, I have listened to a lot of it, it's magnificent, a connection without borders, feeling such emotion at the same time, it's magical, this music has the power to make my heart happy, even if I don't always understand the lyrics 😉 thank you RUclips indeed Best regards

From left to right...David Phelps, Russ Taff, Guy Penrod and Bill Gaither. I believe Bill's wife wrote this song. GVB have wonderful harmonies. Love this song.
Dennis I knew if you would ever take the time to listen to this you would be hooked. This was a tribute for those lost and those with lost loved ones from 9/11. It is also a song for all Americans who value our freedom. Bill Gaither said after this performance that they would never sing this again without David Phelps. David for sure did shine and his voice blends so well with the other three voices. This is my all time favorite Gaither Vocal Band song.
SIMPLY AMAZING performances from all 4 GVB members!!!! Love, love, love this song and have been blessed to hear it performed in person many times. Nothing in the world like Guy Penrod and David Phelps together!! One of my very favorite GVB lineups of all time. True freedom can ONLY be found in Christ!!! Let freedom ring indeed, from a hill called Calvary!!!
I love this song. Often when my depression issues are at their worst this one brings me out of it. I may have to listen to it a few times, but it works :)
I started following Bill Gaither back in 1962. I love the Gaither Vocal Band and David Phelps is probably the best 1st tenor I have ever heard in any genre. I really enjoy watching you react to these songs. The emotions seen on your face tell a story all by itself. By the way, the piano player is Anthony Burger, which in my opinion, is the most accomplished pianist ever. He really can play anything.
This song is awesome… there aren’t enough words to describe how powerful it is… Thank you for this reaction to this marvelous song… enjoyed your mini message too😊♥️😊♥️
Wonderful performance. Gaither Vocal Band sang this for President and Laura Bush about 16 years ago at the White House. Still on you tube. (taped background wasn't as goosebumpy). You have to try and hear David at his Barn and Bale Ranch singing " We shall Behold Him" (Sandi Patty also sang this years ago ) Now David also did a song while on one of his 1st's concerts with GVB. He sang "Let the Glory Come Down", Now just in the past few months he re did it at his Barn and Bale concerts and changed it up just a bit. You should play them back to back od vs. new. Personally if Carrie Underwood can sing Gospel on the GMA AWARDS and CMT AWARDS I believe David should be on the same platform as Carrie. I know he wins DOVE AWARDS, but we need to get him to also be a household name. My favorite singer. .
WOW! I find it hard to believe you haven't watched this performance before. So very glad you reacted to this marvelous performance!! Bill Gaither wanted to schedule this performance at Carnegi Hall before 2001, but it never worked out. So fitting it was held after 9/11! As Deb commented, there are many firemen and police being honored during this performance!
Thanks for reacting to a favorite song tucked into the recesses of my mind not having heard it for a decade. I am reminded of the freedom in my soul. Bless all who are responsible for this performance.😊
I love your reaction videos! It's nice to see big strong men loving God and not afraid to show it. As a United States Marine, freedom is so important thank you for showing that in your videos. God-bless you and your family!!!❤️
I knew this song would blow you away, been waiting for you to react to this . Thank you so much for the fantastic reaction to a fantastic performance. Always watch for your reactions to David Phelps or David with the Gaither Vocal Band. Keep them coming 😊
Glad to see you reacting to another David Phelps Love watching your reactions to him!!! I love the GVB, that is a whole journey of music in itself!!! Watch as many as you can! 'Worthy Is The Lamb' is another fabulous one in San Antonio' Also 'Daystar' same concert.
Dennis, thank you for your great reaction and your mini sermon! If you have Labor Day open, you would have blast at David’s Labor Day Barn Bash! 1 ticket 2 nights of solo performances at his farm in Culleoka Tennessee! Tickets go on sale Feb.14@noon through his website.
Glorious song of praise. So glad you were able to hear this anthem of praise. Trust you will react to more of Gather Vocal Band songs. Definitely worth listening especially during this time.
Left to right... David Phelos (of course), Russ Taft. Guy Penrod & the the man who is now in his late 80s & still leading GVB to great heights for Jesus! So, this has been done by every GVB through the years and ALL will give you the frissons (chills). Thank you for this reaction! Oh & I just luv your man-crush on David Phelps 😊 He is definitely gifted!
I've been meaning to suggest that you feature the men's ensemble on "There Is A River" with the Gaithers and/or their whole choir doing a true favorite of mine: "It Is Well With My Soul" (and in BOTH of those performances, David has SPECTACULAR solos!! Would LOVE to see your reaction to those......they are my go to vids to lift my spirits...... 😇♥❤
There are thousands of great male singers...and then the re is David Phelps. Stands alone as the best male vocalist on the planet and has been for the past twnty five years and it is not even close.
The GVB has changed personnel quite a few times over the years, but they never do this song unless David is there to sing his part. I've had the privilege to hear them sing this live a few different times, and I never fails to stir me down to my core. Those folks behind the guys are each Southern Gospel artists in their own right, a mix of soloists, trios and quartets. The guy on the drums is Mike Hopper, member of longtime Gospel group The Hoppers. As someone else commented, the pianist was Anthony Berger, one of the best ever and who was sadly lost to a heart attack several years ago.
Amen! This is one of my favs where David just launches to the sky... your face was priceless. Lol. Looking forward to your next one with him and/or GVB. So many great songs with powerful messages.
🙏🏻stayed to the end. THIS is the song that introduced me to David Phelps. I knew of Bill and Gloria Gaither my whole life. Many of their songs were/are sung in our church but I had never explored the Gaither catalog on RUclips. July 4th weekend about three years ago, the pastor played this video during the service. Obviously, I recognized Bill but when David sang it blew me away. Then during Covid lockdown I was searching for “church” music on a Sunday morning and remembered this video. I watched it again and ended up down the wonderful rabbit hole that is everything David Phelps, singing along and shouting praises! I’ve seen him live three times now and still can’t hear him sing enough. I know that someday, when we all get to Heaven, David is going to be leading the choir and I can’t wait to join in singing praises to the King!
Love this song. My favorite version is when Mark Lowery, Guy Penrod, David Phelps and Bill Gaither sang this. Love your reaction to this. Thought you were going to lose it when David hit that high note towards the end.
King Family Reacts, Guy Penrod - the tall one with the long gray hair, he is awesome too, the one that was excited hearing David Phelps hit those notes, that is Russ Taft, Of course Bill Gaither, Bill Gaither & his wife Gloria wrote this song, he os responsible for over 600 famous songs, major Hymns, " He Touched Me" written by them in 1963,
That is when the Gaither vocal band recorded this song but this song was actually originated by another phenomenal Christian artist Larnell Harris back in the early to early mid 1980s.
Dennis, I have been watching you for a while now, I enjoy your reactions to the Gaither vocal band but most of all David Phelps. I enjoy your words of praise after each video. I lost my wife of 30 years on Nov.10th of 2021. GVB always comforts me. When I see how you react to these videos and the emotions you feel, I get tears in my eyes. And I Thank God for you and people like you. I still miss my wife and soulmate every day the lonelyness gets hard to bear, too hard at times. Hearing you speak of our Lord And Savior does my heart good. Wish there were more like you. Thank You !.
One of my favorites. Recently I’ve come upon a new version of Oh Holy Night by David. It was done in 2021 at his Barn Holiday celebration. I didn’t think anything could surpass the original when he was younger. please check it out. It’s bone chilling Love all your reactions
The Gaither Vocal Band did that song at the Whitehouse when George W. Bush was in office. Along with David was Mark Lowry, Guy Penrod and Bill Gaither there at Carnegie Hall. To God goes all the glory for creating all these talented wonderful Christian men. And thank God for creating you Dennis because you share his amazing message with us in your very special way.
BROTHER!!! You have no idea what this video did for me! I just spent an hour in prayer over a ton of bondage and pain that has been preventing me from living the life Jesus paid it all so I could have! I hit RUclips and boom, for no reason other than God, this video appeared, and you spoke the words I needed to hear and the Vocal Band sang their hearts out about the freedom I can have! Gee whiz, can you tell I'm happy? I'm a fan of the VB already, but this really Hit home, and I am now subscribed! Thank you so much! Know that you changed a life today! Oh, and the video is not even new! 🙏 🙏 🙏
The first soloist was Guy Penrod. He has a way of making you feel things too. He can tell a story with his voice. The next singer was Russ Taff. He left God and the gospel singing world for a while but came back on fire for God in a way that was infectious. When you get those men together with David Phelps and Bill Gaither...anything is possible musically, and they proved it that night and others. WOW!!!
Thanks brother for playing this Gaither video. It is a triumph to the kingdom of God! I also love your reactions to this song! I performed gospel music for the past 52 years and you have the type of reactions that every musician/singer appreciate! Thank you for your heart toward our blessed Trinity!!! Blessings, RW (Relentless Warrior) Barlow and Patti Rose
Great reaction Dennis!! If I'm not mistaken, this wasn't very long after 9/11. If you watch it again, pay attention to the far left side of the screen in David's big note towards the end. That's Jason Crabb. Couldn't believe the note David just sang.
I was impressed with Sometimes it Takes a Mountain, with Gaither Vocal Band and a back up group from a Church in Indiana. Even if you do not with to play it on here, I am sure you will like it. Gaither extends it and does kind of an after-thing, and I really that. It is a small back up choir, and then there is a bunch that comes from the viewers. (You know, of course, that these these are all pros." I just loved the way this ends. So "Sometimes it Takes a Mountain." You may find it on you tube. Ha ha.
Would you consider a reaction to the piano player of the Gaither Vocal Band, Anthony Burger, who pre- maturely died in 2006 while performing on a Gaither cruise. He is the most powerful player I’ve ever heard. There are many of his performances on RUclips.
If you want a tear jerker, I’m going to suggest another video from this same concert. Watch “A Few Good Men.” This concert had a meaning that This song doesn’t show. However, The song I’m suggesting does play into the reason why this concert happened to start with. It was done only a month and a half or so after 9/11. If or when you do watch “A Few Good Men”, keep in mind that this concert was done shortly after 9/11 in a huge show of support of gratitude to the emergency workers in New York City who worked 9/11 and as a memorial to those who lost their lives responding to those who needed help. It is a very emotional song and performance. The other members in this group at that time were Bill Gaither on bass, Guy Pernod on lead, the other power vocal in the group, and Russ Taff on baritone. Russ is a Grammy winner singer who sand with the Imperials for years. He is also a song writer.
I very much enjoyed your enthusiasm and blessing from lyrics by Gloria Gaither, and music likely by her and/or Billl. You might also like The End of the Beginning, which I do not hear much on here. God's blessing.
never heard this before, wow, loved every second of it. I'm a big sucker for harmony's.couldnt find the praying hands. that's the closest I could find.
Would you PLEASE show Joy Gardner “The Promise”[Live]. This song was in our(my husband & I) hearts and in our prayers as our 2 year old was in the E.R. in a coma from his Hypoglycemia. His blood sugar would drop so fast and without warning. This one morning at home his blood sugar went from 118 to 44, and we took him immediately to the E.R., BUT the doctors & nurses tried their best to get his sugar up, but it had dropped to 29. Jesus was always there with us and even the doctors & nurses and other staff came in to pray for our son. We finally got home with our son with a blood sugar of 128, after 6:00PM. He still has problems with keeping his sugar levels from dropping like a rock without warning but the Lord still has HIS hand on our son😊.
Yjis concert was 😢pretty much a memorial to 9/12/01 and a tribute to brave men and women that gave everthing to try try and save the lives of others at the twin towers. Try "I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE " from the same concert. Bill Gaither, bass, Russ Taff, baritone, Guy Penrod lead and David Phelps , tenor. Great blend and harmony

MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!!! PLEASE
So glad you found this song. Gloria Gather wrote the words to this song.
I am told Bill & Gloria's daughter actually wrote the song.
Very moving, you can feel the holy being in that performance
I stayed for the whole thing. Your reaction was inspiring as was your message at the end! Keep doing what you're doing!
Love hearing your sermon ! Thanks for sharing your love for Jesus !
I love Russ' reaction to David! ♥️
Just love the Gaithers, thank you!
1st time listener an been a fan of the gvb since I was a teen. I'm 37 an a singer myself. Love that song! So powerful! Prayers!
Love Russ Taff's reaction both times David goes off!!
David Phelpls, Guy Penrod (with beard) Bill Gather, and Russ Taff
This was a performance at Carnegie Hall just after 911 - there's a version where the firemen and first responders were brought on stage - so powerful~
I have never comment on this channel before. But I love this song, love the Gaithers. Love this channel as well. ❤
Powerful words
Great reaction! First time I heard David sing was this song. 20 plus years later, he still amazes me with the emotion he puts in every song.
Please react to "I Pledge My Allegiance" with the Gaither Vocal Band. Love your reactions!
I really love this anthem 🙌🏻 thanks for your amazing reaction to this one 👏🏻 I'm a new subscriber by the way 😊 greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
WOW! Chills on top of goose bumps!!!
I very much enjoyed your enthusiasm and blessing from lyrics by Gloria Gaither, and music likely by her and/or Billl. You might also like The End of the Beginning, which I do not hear much on here. God's blessing.

Breathtaking!!
Thank you for your words. Amen brother, Jesus bought our freedom. 🥰
Love
Great singing and lyrics
Yjis concert was 😢pretty much a memorial to 9/12/01 and a tribute to brave men and women that gave everthing to try try and save the lives of others at the twin towers. Try "I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE " from the same concert. Bill Gaither, bass, Russ Taff, baritone, Guy Penrod lead and David Phelps , tenor. Great blend and harmony
Gospel singer are always the best...
I loved it better when Mark Lowry sang with the group.
