    Is there a single aspect or feature of this boat that wasn't hopelessly compromised in the name of style ?

    • @kokomo9764
      @kokomo9764 9 месяцев назад +2

      No, but the styling is superb.

    • @RandomGuyRandomNumber
      @RandomGuyRandomNumber 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@kokomo9764Is it, though ?
      Or did the designer just throw out every cliche and fashionable idea he had in his head, with no real cohesive vision ? What, for example, is the point of the extreme tumblehome that causes all the fender-hanging and mooring-line issues ? The Riva Aquarama, ChrisCraft Barrelback, J Class or even Thames river "Slipper Stern" have a purity and simplicity of line, as well as a reason (or excuse) for being that makes their sterns classic - how is the mishmash of random curves and protrusions on the aft quarters of this Solaris of the same quality of design ?
      It's like a person talking loudly, confidently and quickly may give the impression of making a good argument - but afterwards, upon reflection, you realise that they were talking utter b*ll*cks. The Solaris is just a designer shouting in your face "look at this, this is style, now look at this, this is also style, and what about this ? It's all the style, all the time, everywhere !"
      If the Solaris' design is so wonderful, can you actually recall any of it well enough to sketch a single styling line or concept from memory (no drawing skill necessary, just a single line or curve, or just describe it verbally) ? What, precisely, is so suberb about it ?

      @@RandomGuyRandomNumber Yes, I can sketch this out, I love the voluptuous lobster boat / classic car curves. That's not to say I don't like some tri-angular designs too.

    Screw the haters I love it. It's a weekender & short cruiser for the Med. What's not obvious from the tour is the seakeeping practicalities, it has a very efficient, sable hull. So stable SP say you don't need a seakeeper (though you can buy one). Bulwarks around the boat, level deck, very nice. I'd have a 1 cabin 1 heads version with a small loveseat and most of the 2nd cabin as storage.

    Oven or microwave? beautiful outside and some nice touches but pretty poorly thought out in my opinion

    If you could take the best features of this boat (eg. power windows in the living area, larger fridge, and more headspace in the guest cabin) and put those on the Pardo GT52 (which has a better overall layout, imo) that would be amazing.

    Nice boat to look at, but the substance of the living-ability onboard is lacking. 😢

    • @darthkek1953
      @darthkek1953 7 месяцев назад

      It's not a live-aboard though. Not designed for it. It's a port hopping cruiser.

  • @johnschieffelin3226
    @johnschieffelin3226 9 месяцев назад +2

    Wow, so many compromises for style. Low backrests in aft deck seats will become uncomfortable quickly; helmsman has no quick access to side decks when docking; forward window is so slanted the view forward is inadequate; minimal galley counter space; the boat sleeps six and seats four; guest cabins are awkward with compromised headroom. Compare the Solaris to a Grand Banks or even a Belize 54 and it falls way short.

    Stunning exterior design! However, the interior leaves a lot to be desired. It's definitely a day boat. With the lower level doors installed, it would be extremely cramped. The boat is certainly a head turner.

    Nice finish and stylish. If I had nearly £2 million to spend on a new boat, not a chance would I have this one. It is nice to see how those with more money than me waste it on. Good video though 👍.

    That is definitely a beautiful yacht, love the interior and the outside is spectacular. I would definitely not get through that engine hatch lol. Great tour Hugo thank you.

      Why did you like the interior? To me, it was very cramped. If the lower level doors were installed, it would be horrible. This boat would be ok for an overnight stay only. It is primarily a day boat only. But, it is stunning on the exterior.

    ..somebody would..take a bit of a shine to it 😂. I'm sure the cutlery would have been worth lifting, but overall I have to say I'm actually more disappointed for you, rather than me, Hugo. You went from being entirely in love as you started, to rather less so by the time you finished! Beautiful lines though, as you said. Thanks for that, see you next time and all the best

    Looks nice. That flared body means it's stable in the water, but also, huge air pockets for a lovely bit of hull slap at night to keep,you awake. Unless they sound deadened the ,iving hell out of that curve, it would make a bad harbor sleeper

    its a pretty boat but hugo is too sold on the "show" rather than the "go". yes. very curvy. yes, very pretty teak - which will never be the same after the first time it hits the water. and there is no way somone will not eventually overfill at that fuel inlet. its going on the teal and the pain. pretty if you have a full time professional crew and keep it in a boat house or have it lifted out after every use, but not so practical. but some people can afford that and good on them.

    That was a very overpriced sports-cruiser if I ever saw one. The design is beautiful, but that's it. No fly-bridge and 28 knots flat out. Probably cruising at 20 knots in the tropics. Thumbs down, stay the hell away from it.

    • @darthkek1953

    Terrible view from the helm, sunroof in the wrong place, pathetic helm side window, nightmare to keep clean and scratch free etc etc. Nice to look at, but couldn’t imagine owning one.
    Great tour though Hugo!
