- The cod wars were a series of disputes between the United Kingdom and Iceland, which arose from Iceland's unilateral sea expansions. Despite the name, they wouldn't be considered wars. But rather, militarized interstate disputes.

for everyone reading this, heres a summary, Iceland expanded its fishing zones, and no other ships besides military and civilian vessels were allowed, the UK responded by "RULE BRITANNIA" and Iceland straight up threatened to leave NATO, long story short, rinse and repeat 2 more times and thats the cod wars

What I already know:Bassicly Iceland wants to expand there territory waters and the UK doesn’t like it so they threaten war and after the UK starts winning Iceland threatens to withdraw from NATO.
After video:Iceland expands there territorial waters and the UK calls them out for it but initially do nothing,then Iceland expands them even more and the UK starts protecting there fishing boats.Then They have a small battle and then Iceland wins the first cod war. Then Iceland expands there territorial waters again and it inter fears with other countries claims, Iceland threatens to leave NATO Iceland wins the second cod war. Iceland adds way more to there waters then Iceland breaks ties with the UK after the UK confronts them. After that the UN makes it so every country has 100 to 200 territorial waters to fish in.
It started form 50m to 150m ps that is all you need to know

They were over fishing and if we would not have reacted they would have depleted the fish stock.

So hey Koral. I have a suggestion for the next video. How about you do a video about the football wars. You can search up more about it but the summary of it is. El Salvador and Honduras had a football game against each other. In the end El Salvador won. The people of Honduras were furious and the Honduras government began driving immigrants out of their country and back into El Salvador. Diplomatic ties werent good at all at first. So after that El Salvador declared war on Honduras. I don’t remember anything else after so you can try and search it up. Goodluck!
