Love your work mate. I would definitely like to see a Mega Projects video on the Chinese artificial islands in the South China Sea. What are their pros and cons? Are any other countries doing the same thing in the area or elsewhere?
I'm curious why the writers said no one knows the actual purpose of these artificial islands. The main purpose is completely evident, namely by planting the Chinese flag on these "Islands" China gets to claim the waters surrounding the islands in a cynical attempt to claim all of the South China Sea. Any military capabilities present are just to defend the artificial islands and serve little strategic function other than that. They've even tried to claim parts of Indonesia that were established as Indonesian territory several years before Chinese nationhood was established despite the island being populated by Indonesian people with schools, local government and police.
1:55 I am sure everyone has pointed out this is actually a picture of the SR - 71. An amazing aircraft that Simon has covered in a previous video ( of course, lol ). ☺
Yup and it was one of the secret tests run in area 51. You could see how when no one had ever seen anything like the SR-71, that they could mistake it for a spaceship.
I think the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway would be a great Sideprojects or even Megaprojects video. Pretty impressive to divert small barge traffic out of the Mississippi by making a new path from the Ohio river to the Gulf Coast through Mississippi and Alabama.

One amusing thing about the Chinese "Secret bases". Due to their location, they are in international waters, so anyone can legally be in the area. The US routinely flies aircraft in the area to keep an eye on them. There was one a few years back that the Navy released the video of. It was several minutes of the aircraft flying a few miles away from the island while the Chinese on the island were telling the US aircraft to go away and they were flying in Chinese airspace. The AC told them they were flying over international territory and would continue to do so. Everytime the Chinese garrison sent a message, it was a different person transmitting. One theory is they thought "Maybe his English wasn't good and they didn't understand, so we'll have someone else do it." After multiple tries, the camera on the aircraft was recording the poor E sitting in the back writing down everything. The new guy on the line went through the whole "This is Chinese airspace, you are in violation of international law, yada yada." Then, after a few seconds of dead air "............Meow." The kid writing everything down just started laughing like crazy while the rest of the crew were just looking at each other going "..Meow???"

Oh Simon...you make me laff 😁
The plot of the British show Years and Years has a chilling suggestion about what role the Chinese manufactured islands could play in any conflict.
Yes, I want to see an episode on the Chinese made islands.
Mount Weather also has the real life Lonesome Pine that Laurel and Hardy were on the trail of. Fact.
"...all you have to do is become President of the United States, or at the very least the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development..." - nice Keifer Sutherland/Designated Survivor reference!
IT'S LIZARD PEOPLE I TELLS YA. It's always lizard people. 🤣
Simon...I adore ya mate. I love that perfect stereotype that an English accent means Gravitas. Gotta edit because his channels are professionally done. Because of the accent.
You know he's not English right?
You said U-2. In front of a pic of the SR. Why??
You, you didn't, didn't m-men-tion Sh-sh-sh-Cheyenne Mountain or the St--St-Stargate! Waaaahhhhh!!!!
Putting up a picture of the SR-71 with the tag for the U-2 is going to confuse people.
Yes make a mega project about the south China sea islands
East Asian sub pens are pretty neat. Let's see whether they feature in this video
FORT BELVOIR VIRGINIA. I have lived within 500 yards of the base for nearly 40 years. They have been hosting ET's there for 100 years.
Put me in for a "Please Megaproject me some Chinese artificial islands".
Oh wow, I have watched tons of these and suddenly find one that's recent... Simon, if you are reading this at all, I just want to say after all this time! One thing!:
Nice beard, bro. 👍
Fun fact: Area 51 is also home to the largest N.S.A. server farm dedicated to national security in the nation!
Pine Gap's real purpose is actually well known in Australia. It's a submarine port for subs travelling along the tunnels from the north to south of the couuntry. We're not supposed to tell anyone that though, so don't say I told you
As an Australian I can say that what goes on at PG is still very classified to this day.
I'd go as far as to say not even ASIO know however I'd make a guess the ADFD do in a very limited capacity.
