Buildings were not ment to be that high that close to the water. It was felt that doing this would over crowd the actual harbour. Development was ment to stay low near the water edge and then raise as they went further back. It would seem that that plan got squashed to suit the developers. The result is that it makes the harbour look very small and also crowds out the sun light. Very sad.
Yeah. Also no residential in the original development plan. The Libs have wanted to get residential in there from the beginning. The new residents had better not complain about noise and crowds.
I like the direction you are taking the channel. I only get to Sydney a few times a year, so it is interesting to see how this project is going. Thanks for taking the time to film this.
Thanks for the video, seeing these videos of Habourside over the last year make me want to go into the city on one of my few days off just to explore and take in the scenery since it appears to have changed so much, I was last in there in 2018/19
I visited the site mid year, its progressing along quickly, sad to see the once beautiful curved glass roofed mall gone and my favourite the monorail ... thanks for sharing and as for the rude people well, Im sure there's a rainy day and garbage truck just waiting to wizz past them and give them a soaking they deserve
@@user-kc1tf7zm3b Im sorry you are right, seeing copy pasted Lendlease designs for as far as the eye can see is the perfect choice, good talk boss, good talk.
Looks good. I don't know where some people got the idea that there won't be any shopping. Maybe it won't be a traditional mall but you'll still have shops and restaurants for sure
They have never stopped digging up Darling Harbour. They just couldn’t leave it alone . No business ever had a chance of success there. It was supposed to be a peoples space and now it is just a vile mess. No one goes there anymore. What a shit hole it has turned into. Yuk. Just high end housing for wealthy people.
No one goes there? Sure, Cockle Bay has been a bit of a mess recently, what with Harbourside and the W Hotel construction (not to mention the virus restrictions not so long ago). But further South with the kids play areas/splash pool (whatever they call it), it certainly gets very busy on a nice sunny day. And Darling Square seems quite popular. And like I said in another comment, the new residents had better not complain about the noise and crowds.
That wouldn't happen. Labor hasn't wanted residential in that area from the beginning. And the Libs/Nats certainly would do it. In fact it's a state significant development, so even the City Council doesn't have much say.
Yes, Harbourside by Mirvac in Sydney, Australia will have retail and restaurants: Retail The 87,000 square meter development will have 45,000 square meters of retail space, including national and international brands😊
So fascinating watching this site from demolition to eventually completion thankyou for sharing
What is so fascinating about a shopping centre that didn't need to be demolished?
Du ma@@HyperHorse

2:36, the old Sydney Monorail Station!
keep up good work mate
still think they should have preserved that corner monorail station into a cafe or something
Could've called it "Monorail Cafe"...
"Go away! There ain't no monorail and there never was!" 😂
@@thehandlerman That was always the sentiment i guess 😏
@@buda3d2007 Why? As a throwback to Bicentennial 1988 for the small number that care about the 1980s? You have to move on.

Great video wanted to know how it was going finally some progress about time
Aloot of work has happened in the last few months. They were just starting to build that scaffolding back in July when I was there last
Looks good. I don't know where some people got the idea that there won't be any shopping. Maybe it won't be a traditional mall but you'll still have shops and restaurants for sure
Ur humor is awesome
🤣🤣 thank you!
@AbandonedOZ u could even make this a comedy channel and we'd still watch

Totally disagree. It was originally tacky and unpopular. But it’s getting better and better and is a highly visited area
We left Sydney 9 yeard ago ... do I want to come back with all the changes going on ... There wont be anything left ????
There will be old stuff that you remember, just with some new stuff that you don't. Sydney isn't a museum, but a working city.
So Darling Harbour will be a WEF approved precinct, which is what it sounds like. They love the word ' reimagined'.
Currently just out of shower put on my harbour side tee shirt bought in 2003
Why demolish, it was okay as it was .. such a waste of money..
Harbourside was a dated 1980s tourist trap. Nothing more.
Any news about the cockle bay Wharf?
Nothing just yet
wow, what are you filming with? thanks
Wouldn’t it be great if there was Social housing included in the new development

Kinda lame i like it how it was
Thanks Phil, it looks like it will be quite an impressive replacement of Harbourside. Cheers
All that beautifull sandstone wall is putrid. It needs a good clean
In that artists impression image Phil that highrise residential building looks ugerly and it will look ugerly when it's finish being built.

There definitely will be a shopping centre below and restaurants ect it’s going to be gorgeous once completed
We need a nsw liberal government to get cockle bay wharf redeveloped! Labor in nsw hates building things!
WOW!!!!! Something vaguely relevant!!!!
