great vid,i have a fadal 3016 -97 metric ac servos and i noticed that your machine bangs horrible when moving as does mine which im trying to fix.but all my axes bangs exactly the same .when you changed amp and tune it did the banging go away?,at least on the y-axis .
Great vid, thank you! I did the replacement of bad amp a couple of years ago. Btw, I have some things that are not definend in the instruction manual - regarding the tuning of the 4th axis. In tunning program, you have feedrate in the instructions, however for the 4th you have something like "F____" Do you happen to know that value? Thaks for the vid once again.
well the card always need balancing when swapping over to another axis... and signal adjustment too. probably even loop gain tune . those black amps are not the oldest ones. i have 2 Fadals with older amps than u have there.
Loop Gain is more "tricky" since that will give the servo movement "soft" follow or "hard" ... so can overshoot the position or... if too "hard" .. can go into jitter... oscillation
Hey brother, curious if you looked into the Calmotion Controllers that the son of Fadal created as a PnP solution to update our Fadals? Your input would be highly valued.
It's been awhile, but I have looked into them. At the time, I liked the controller - it seemed to have really good reviews and feedback, but I couldn't justify the price. I'm just a single guy in a shop without any significant business (this is my side hustle until it becomes a thing). If you can afford it and it suits your needs, I'm sure it'll help you process code faster and improve quality based on the videos and papers I've seen written about them.
I can’t find it on their website, but try and join the Fadal FB group. We have tons of resources and files there. I can’t recall if we have this one or not, but if needed I could upload.
Thanks for sharing all this detail in your videos!!

Is it possible to download that document somewhere?

@@bgwmachine I'm a member of the Fadal CNC Users group, so I'll check. Thanks!
"We're going to troubleshoot our axis amplifiers" ... *pans to the black amplifiers* ... annnd you are doomed
