I carried a Gerber strong arm ( non Serrated ) and an Ontario Rat 1 , along with a Gerber Multi tool ( M4 Armorer ) all for almost a Decade...If I go back even farther to the early 90s I kept a KaBar MK 1 ( mainly because of size ) and a Buck 110 in a leather sheath also had a Buck 119...now I'm old and looking back over 30 years , I got tharlt Buck 110 in High School at the knife shop in the mall I kept it wire tied to my kit all through the 90s till the Gerber Gator came out , but I still have that 110 Buck after all these years and it still looks fairly decent

Greek Kopis sword , was brought to Asia, along with Alexander the Great, who also brough the Greek civilization along with him, whenever he conquared. The Kukri, is very heavy but more than that is very thick and kind of big, to put it in the "knife" category. Don't forgetm tha Kopis, was orifginaly a sword and even Kukri itself, has been used as such, through time! That's my personal opionion. Doesn't mean, tha all have to agree. Only thing, that I can to witha Kukrim is to split wood, which is something, that me an all my ancestors, used axes for. Wikipedia describes the kukri as 'a curved Nepalese knife used especially by Gurkha fighters' and given its effectiveness in combat especially against japanese troops in WW2 I think my classification as a military knife is fair. I haven't taken any heads with mine but I have processed wood for fire making including feather sticking, shelter building, preparing meat and veg for cooking and cutting notches etc for traps making it an effective all round camp knife. But as you say its not compulsory for us all to agree.

A good combat/tactical knife has to have a good cross guard to stop your hand from slipping onto the blade when you hit bone. These guys don’t knock combat from wombat.
I have two of the, Benchmade knives, Adamus . The black coated ones. These knives are the, Toughest fixed blades I have ever come across to owning. They also have many ways to carrying them too! Like the, Army Rsngers chose a very good efficient tool to pack on them on their missions in combat.

A very well thought out list! I.M.H.O. you would need about (5) of these blades to be covered! I have several of them, and have carried them over a long span. One of my very 1st fixed survival blades was & still is an Air Force kbar survival/leather sheath. It is razor sharp. Yes, you can shave with it. I paid $59 for #10 the Gerber knife, it's a nice knife, actually have 2 of them, one has partial serrated blade the other doesn't! Like the different ways you can mount sheath!!
Dont get me wrong I love my kabar but dang, out of these the tops should have definitely been number one possibly replaced by the ark due to weight difference

Army Kabar? When did the Army ever issue Kabar's? Going back over the time I spent in the service I can literally name all the blades i was ever issued. Starting as far back as the M7 bayonet. Then the M9 Piece of s***! All the way up to the LMF and Ontario XM-1. Maybe you purchased a Kabar but I would be very surprised if one was ever issued..

Also referred to as a "hilt". That also prevents your hand slipping down onto the "business end" of the knife when the handle gets wet and slippery.
