      I prefer the wye / delta start up. After a major repair or overhaul when you start that badboy up and wait for transition. Holding your breath while watching the amps and listening for any sounds indicating problems. Then thump - thump as the contactors pull in / drop out and motor runs in delta
      Then can start breathing normally again

      a good ole centrifugal coming up to speed is music to the hears-like a plane starting up, almost as good as one shutting down.

    In this part of the world those machines are referred to as MultiCrap. I don't dislike them they have their purpose, but no way those could ever take the place of Centrifugal or Screw Chillers. Where they get a bad rap is when some Architect specs those out to replace a Centrifugal or a Screw which they cannot do for critical chilled water control, comfort cooling they're good but when you cannot fluctuate water temps more than tenths of a degree up or down like in laser labs those don't do as well as a screw with a slide valve or a Centrifugal with vanes to modulate during low load conditions.

    You been missing in action. You have any videos of commercial boilers and centrifugal chiller? Great video like always

    why are there no lights in this mechanical room, no ball valve on drain, makes your job harder, good video for those office dwellers that have no idea where chilled water comes from

    • @EminHVAC
      @EminHVAC  8 лет назад

      I ask myself the same question all the time, and yes a ball valve would have made things a lot easier, I put one on eventually.

    “That sound “ you hear is what they call carrier frequency.Carrier frequency is an adjustable parameter and it’s worth a quick google search.

    • @EminHVAC

      Yes we have. This chiller has individual heat exchanger plates for each circuit. No shell on this one.

    man I thought the chiller room at my work was bad, this one really puts things into perspective. mine ain't shit compared to that. does all that build up in those pipes come from the metal? we just recently piped ours with copper, wondering how that will effect performance over time.

    • @shanebond1389
      @shanebond1389 7 лет назад

      its condenser water, it can come from pipe corrosion, usually just dirt from cooling tower. If you switched your condenser loop to copper with a tower it wouldn't have any significant effect.

    I must have missed something. How is a straight thru strainer in a straight pipe straining any water. There are no Y strainers or basket strainers on the condenser water pumps? Nice video, Thanks

    • @EminHVAC
      @EminHVAC  9 лет назад

      I should have showed the condenser plates. There are openings on the side of that pipe were the water passes to get to condenser heat exchanger plates. It definitely goes through the strainers. That's a 6 inch pipe with 2 inch mechanical T's that feed the plates

    An adjustable wrench is a better tool, Did you flush the filter tube, and the electrical connections should also be checked for tightness. nice job!!
