If anyone wondering "tenang" means calm that's video is probably came from Indonesia or somewhere else close to it, and yes whale shark are protected here and most fisherman also don't like catching big ass fish that could potentially ruin those fishing boat and net unless they are crazy enough, also a lot of them love whale shark as much as we do because tourism and some fishermen have whale shark following them and they usually throw small fish to feed them (I don't think that a good idea).
I caught that too, I'm learning Indonesian as my partner lives there/is from there and I thought that's what they were saying as well. They also looked like they were trying to figure out to get him out of the net without taking him out of the water plus that one guy was singing like he thought the situation was kinda cool. I highly doubt they wanted any harm to come to the shark. Fucking cool video though, like I can't even imagine being so close to such a huge fish
@@nouhorni3229 it's not the food that Iam concerned but giving food to wild animal can attract them to boats and could potentially hurt them if they hit the propeller or meeting an unfriendly fisherman.
3:32 “Tenang” means calm in Indonesian and Malaysian. Think the fisherman recording this is telling the Whale Shark to calm down… that or he’s telling himself to calm down lmao.
That poor lancet fish, he's probably in tremendous pain, as a lot of fish sadly have very advanced systems of pain like, with some having similar pain responses to us.
@accelerationquanta5816 there is evidence for that and there would be reasons to care in that case. For example, you didn't chose to be human at birth and it's even more likely that you may have been a fish
@accelerationquanta5816 huh? There is. When you show empathy you’re more likely to get the same back. What kind of stupid unsurvivalist thinking is that? You do that with team mates in a stressful situation they’re not gonna have your back
4:37 my father worked on a trawling boat during 35+ years, I went on ocasions with him, they used to pull out things like basking sharks, 15ft sixgills, etmopterids, flatfish, anglerfish of all sorts, conger eels and all sorts of weird deepsea fish, I used to go with him to watch the catch and it was an experience
8:50-When you said sea spiders are fucked up, my sister yelled "not as ugly as your face!" And I yelled, "you're lookin' in the mirror!" When she went to the toilet. Edit: Same happened at 9:33
7:43 to answer your question that is a Chinese seafood restaurant where they kinda do this, show you all the fish in big open tanks and customers can pick them. I haven't seen a fish completely jump out yet but they baby is traumatized lol.
Not only are there potential legality issues when it comes to whale sharks, but that fella could destroy their whole ass net if he wanted to. Tons of reasons to get him out of the net as soon as possible.
Your comment at 2:02 about sharks dying from being flipped upside down (i looked it up and it’s called tonic immobility? I thought it was because they couldn’t breathe but no they straight up stop functioning) reminded me that apparently there’s this group of orcas who have figured this out and are now going out of their way to hunt and kill sharks by using that thing. Isn’t that fucked up. Why do oceanic creatures love gang wars so much. First it was octopi now it’s orcas don’t even get me started on whatever is going on with dolphins Edit: inb4 anyone goes “but orcas ARE dolphins” I know I’m referring to like. The Other Types of Dolphins. Apparently they’re like, all assholes.
Okay, sharks don't die if they get flipped, they get dazed and then after a bit they usually find themselves back up(see: "get rotated"). They are really vulnerable while dazed though.
Thank you for covering a Dorado video because I’ve been trying to remember the name of it for ages now. I ate one in Spain once and I loved it and recently I remembered how tasty it was but I forgot the name of it.
If you want to see a captive kept moray eel, look up the one in The Mississippi River Museum, it's absolutely massive and interested when the tank cleaner comes in
My mom has done worse with forgetting to change the water level. THE WHOLE TANK WAS EMPTY AND WE HAD ALOT OF FISH IN IT. Luckily the fish survived for a whole 3 hours without water
I'm in the same place as you are with crab spiders, but with angular fish. I mean I know angular fish could never hurt me after all I could never get that deep, but even though I know quite a bit about them their very existence makes me want to cry. And this is coming from a person who thinks so many deep sea fish look cute or cool!
The fish being "full" applies to any animal as well. My cat will never turn down a meal. He even digs though trash or munch on human food and plants just for extra food
6:08 Every once in a while, AVNJ makes an off-handed remark that just doesn't make any sense to me. Mouth-brooding fish would of course evolve the behavior of retreating to their mother's mouth for safety. That's the whole strategy, right? It's the safest place for them to be. This video doesn't in any way indicate that they would attempt to retreat into the mouth of another fish. It's not like he put a different fish in the container and they retreated into its mouth, they went back into the same mouth that the _just_ left a second ago. Even if they can't see all that well when they're that young, I imagine they can tell the difference based off of behavioral cues, like if it's the mouth behind you that all your siblings are still inside of, great, if it's another mouth dashing toward you at full speed, probably not good. Like evolutionarily, it would make perfect sense that they can tell different mouths apart. But even if they couldn't tell their mother's mouth from a predator's mouth visually, the behavior of mouth-retreating, for a mouth-brooding species, is gonna be more helpful than suicidal than 99% of the time, because unless their mother is dead, they're gonna spend almost all their time around her, right? Maybe AVNJ was mostly fooling around and not being super serious, or maybe I'm completely missing something. I am not a fish biologist, so.
That's a rather average sized muskie, largest solidly confirmed muskie was over 6 feet long and older literature sometimes made claims for possible size for up to 2,4 m.

Does that ever cause damage? Do fish only overeat when they're in captivity?
"are those remoras??"
Remora: proceeds to get knocked into next year by whale shark tail
The fishermen were trying to flip the net and pretty much roll the big guy out. If they let the net go it would just wrap around the big guy.
