    I hear the Savior say,
    “Thy strength indeed is small!
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”
    Jesus paid it all,
    All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain −
He washed it white as snow.
    Lord, now indeed I find
    Thy pow’r, and Thine alone
    Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.
    Refrain
    For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim −
    I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.
    Refrain
    And when before the throne
    I stand in Him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
    My lips shall still repeat.
    Refrain

I am. I had no idea it was a hymn; I thought it was by Fernando Ortega! I literally just stumbled on this here. "Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; sin had left a crimson stain - He washed it white as snow." Praise the Lord!

There's nothing else that Man can do to obtain salvation. Jesus paid all, once and for all. He paid the price. Its up to us to believe and trust Him. What a great song, sung very well.

This is one of my very favorite hymns, in part because I believe it presents a complete description of the Gospel. The first verse reminds us that we are all sinners in need of redemption. The second verse tells us that only Jesus can give this redemption. The third verse says that we can't earn it by our own good deeds. The last verse reminds us that we will spend eternity in heaven if we receive Jesus' offer of salvation. And of course, the refrain reminds us that this is all possible because "Jesus paid it all." May the Lord bless you and keep you always!

I think Verse 2 should read:
    Lord, now indeed I find
    Thy pow’r, and Thine alone
    Can change the leopard's spots
And melt the heart of stone.
It should read "leopard's spots" instead of "leper's spots" (see Jeremiah 13,23).
“Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” (Jeremiah 13:23)

JESUS PAID IT ALL TO OPEN THE GAT TO HEAVEN BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE THAT WE STILL HAVE TO WALK OUR WAY TO HEAVEN BY OBEYING GOD'S 10 COMMANDMENTS AND SHOW THAT WE DESERVE IT

We cannot so anything to earn it. We cannot so anything to lose it. For by (God’s) grace are you saved Ephesians through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. Titus 3:5

I guess you mean that we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling and not squander it away, because we are bought with a price through our Lord Jesus Christ's blood which he shed for our atonement in his death at the cross of Calvary.
The way you express it sounds a bit as though we need to earn our salvation by keeping God's commandments. All of them, not only the ten.
“12. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Philipper 2:12-13)

LONG STORY. DAD AT KNOX COLLEGE (CANADIAN PRESBYTERIAN SEMINARY), UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO. A favorite hymn emerged after Dad tangoed with a hyper-illiberal-liberal OT Professor, Dad arguing for the apostolic view while the illiberal OT was choking like a dog over penal substitution and indicating he lacked apostolic succession, apostolic doctrine, apostolic blessing, and apostolic fidelity. A false teacher in an academic, Presbyterian setting. On the contrary, Dr. Bruce, an NT Professor, Scots Presbyterian, and a Confessionalist, came to Dad's defense. It was ugly. Long story there, but the hymn was played and sung after the theological firefight. The hymn selection was an apparent happenstance. I grew up on stories like that, stressing the old Princetonians. As a kid, I wanted to play baseball. Upon maturing, I came to appreciate those Princetonian names. Upon going to WTS, Dad said, "Never lose the Westminster Standards." Went to RES and they lacked Confessional maturity like the Princetonians, although they'd claim to be "Presbyterians with a Prayer Book." RES was solid until it wasn't. Back on point.
It's GOOD FRIDAY 2024. THOUGHTS ON THE CROSS AND ATONEMENT.
Atonement. The topic of the Atonement is a complex one that has been debated by theologians throughout history. There are different ways to understand the Atonement, including through expiation, propitiation, redemption, reconciliation, Christ Victor, exemplar, and exchange. Each perspective offers unique insights into the nature and significance of Christ's sacrifice. It's like a diamond with many facets.
Scholars have looked to various sources, such as the Old and New Testaments and Passover teachings, to gain insight into the Atonement. Over time, theologians have presented different theories on the Atonement, including penal substitution, double imputation, recapitulation, ransom paid to the Devil, penal substitution with added benefits, satisfaction with room for synergism, and the example theory with synergism.
Luther, Calvin, Cranmer, and others supported penal substitution, while Grotius presented the government theory exclusively, detracting from the historical, Biblical, and apostolic views. William Shedd and Charles Hodge followed the Westminster Standards with vicarious, penal substitution. Gustav Aulen presented the Christus Victor model.
It's important to recognize that the topic of the Atonement is complex and has been approached from many different angles. Each theory offers unique insights into the nature and significance of Christ's sacrifice, but it's essential to consider the different perspectives when examining the topic. It's also important not to lose sight of the unified angles on the ONE, DOMINANT issue of the definite, effective, and effectual atonement of Christ for the elect.
