Erie Canal History - Concrete Barges on the Erie Canal

When the modern barge canal was finally finished in 1918, steel was in short supply because of World War I. Concrete barges provided a solution, if only for duration of the war.

I'm curious to know where on the Mohawk one might get a glimpse of an old concrete barge.
I subscribed because of my interest in the Day Peckinpaugh. Does anyone know what happened to the funding and the plans to make her a museum? Glad she was saved from the scrap yard, but last I knew she was just tied up between locks 2 and 3.
