  • Aspace For3 Vanlife road trip through the Everglades destination the Island of Chokoloskee
This remote Pioneer Island known for fishing and stone crabs also has a dark side In this video we filmed the National Registry Historic Site of Ted Smallwood Store
Also one of Florida most haunted places and the final stop of a Florida Serial Killer
Built in 1906 The Smallwood store was a trading post and post office for many years in Chokoloskee Island
This swamp town was also know to attract outlaws and fugitives since it was so difficult to get in and out of the island The only way to access Chokoloskee was by boat
A serial killer by the name of Ed Watson aka Edgar Watson made Chokoloskee his home after being on the run for robbery and murder
Ed Watson was shot and killed on the beach right outside of the Smallwood Store by Mr. Ted Smallwood himself and other town men
The story goes that Ed Watson had attempted to kill a man outside the store with a shotgun but the shotgun jammed up due to wet cartridges
It was at that point the men opened fire in retaliation The store is currently a museum ran by Ted Smallwood family members.

As always thank you for sharing your adventure with us! I love how natural and genuine you both are in front of the camera. I am still trying so hard to overcome my own awkwardness and striving to become natural at it as you guys. You both inspire me.

Amazing story that goes with this past store owner! Those old clothing patterns in the original location of the store, wow! Soda in a glass bottle... brings back memories. That is a beautiful view and $5 to visit the museum is a great deal 😊 I'm super happy our washer and dryers have advanced over the last few decades lol Great video my friends! God bless y'all ✝️

Chokoloskee Island has a lot of crazy history. It such a remote island that in tends to land a lot of outcast. Atlas it did in the late 1800s and early 1900s. We waiting on the mosquito season to pass before we do the boat tour to 10,000 Islands. Hopefully sometime in the fall.. Hope you have a great weekend as well. Are you abandoning this weekend?

This video is right up my alley, love this type of local history (places and stories,) Map says this place is about 4 hours from us. I would be all about a trip there, but Karen maybe not so much. Anyways, Ted seemed a bit quiet! 🤣 What an interesting place and story. ~ Kevin

Wow! Truly glad you liked it. We not as good as you with telling historical facts, but we try. For sure you would love it. You might even enjoy reading up on Ted Smallwood and the Chokoloskee Island. Crazy history. Island is very remote after hurricane Irma the population is down to 200 people nearest bar would be in Naples. So Karen not having it for sure now....lol

That island was the cannabis importation capital of the entire world in the 70s and 80s Those guys use to move serious weight! Tons and tons! My Uncle in Hialeah use to get that good Santa Marta Colombia 🇨🇴 from those guys out there! Everyone wanted the Colombian,it was way better than the Mexican and Jamaican stuff back in the day. You guys should look into this,it would make a great video. I enjoyed and thanks for the memories it’s been awhile. I moved up to Saint Lucie back in 2004 and I miss the Glades. Spent a ton of time fishing from Chocoluskee as a kid! Good times!!!!
