Can't beat a view like that at the camping spot! That was beautiful! I am always amazed at seeing the beauty of Cali! Looked like a great backpacking adventure!
Okay, what a coincidence, we were just watching your latest video!! 😆 We've both been in Cali for a long time and still can't get over the diversity you can find in a range of just a few hours of driving. And that camp spot...one of our favs, for sure. Thanks so much for watching!
Santa Barbara local here. I hiked and camped some of that when I was younger and my son still goes out there when he can. Wonder if the trail is washed out now. Thanks for the video!
WOW that's wild!! Never knew one trail can have so many river crossings. You guys rocked it!! The School house was pretty cool as well, its like seeing outer space being in there. Great video guys, thanks for sharing! We will be waiting patiently for next Friday haha
Right it was wild, literally like 68 crossings lol. We loved it thought. And the school house was really interesting as well! Thanks for watching as always!!
New subscriber here! Coming from Backpacking with Buckley’s page where I saw your name in the comments. I was already smiling in the first two seconds of watching!!
This is indeed one of the best places to backpack in So Cal! I have done this trip probably a half dozen times and always enjoy it! Did you see the old graffiti in the schoolhouse? I think the oldest name is from 1908. My trick for happy feet on this trip is to wear old running shoes that you can get wet and bring some water shoes or sandals for camp. Leave the boots and nice hiking shoes at home. You'll have to do the full 46 mile Sisquoc loop sometime!
I have no idea why this video has down votes but its crazy. The vibe you give is awesome and I love it! Awesome video guys! Ugh your vids are making me want to get back to CA!
Edit, my lady friend here reminded me in 2021 I'm not supposed to list all those spots here, bad etiquette she says, oh well, i listed half a dozen of my secret LA spots here earlier, pm if you want to know them, Cheers love your videos.
Nope, no permit needed, and there's no parking fee! (But the road down to the trail head is a liiiittle dicey.) All camping is on a first come, first serve basis. :)
Your video shows how good friends you are also it shows how much you both love nature. How beautiful the world is, everyone should go there and explore, but all countries have to destroy the world with a nuclear explosion. Best wishes for further hiking 🤞 stay healthy 💪
There's nothing "fake" about Solvang! This town was built by Danish immigrants many of which still reside and operate many of the business here. It remains a culturally significant for the Nordic, even for the ones who come here to visit from Europe regularly. So how is it fake exactly?
We love Solvang! And you're correct, "fake" isn't the right word. Unfortunately, it was early in the morning and I couldn't think of a concise way to explain that the town was full of Danish-style buildings, plus some replicas of famous statues and landmarks. Thanks for this comment!
The intro 😂 I felt that so hard, love it
I'm from Santa Ynez and grew up hiking, riding, and exploring these hills and mountains. So glad you had a great time!
So cool! Thanks so much for watching! We have some fun coming out this week on the channel!

I’m trying to get into backpacking and this is the exact trail I was looking into!!
Great video guys. Will have to try this hike.

I love your late starts, after my own heart, always sunset on my trips too.
We always get a late start lol. its a habitual problem of ours.

Wonder if the trail is washed out now.
Thanks for the video!
We wonder that too - hopefully it’s still there. Hope you’re staying safe with all the storms!
Thanks for the memories! I loved hiking this area some 40 years ago. Did the school house have that big sold piece of red wood as a blackboard?
I don't remember if it had the sold sign but the old school house was so cool. Such a fun adventure out there.
@@BadHikers I meant solid not sold. Thanks
7:16 what sandals did you buy? I’m looking for some great light weight sandals. Awesome channel. Subbed
They are called Xero Shoes, Z-Trail Sandals, super light weight and surprisingly comfortable!
You two always have the most amazing finds! That is a crazy thought with the schoolhouse only accessed once the river is at a reasonable level.
Ahh thanks so much!! We are forsure trying to show some of our favorite hikes that you might not find other wise!!
Nice view drone guys, awesome
Thank you 👍
Awesome! Definetly adding it to my list for the next time I'm up there camping at Lake Cachuma!
You definitely should!

Oh man, that’s a huge compliment! Thank you so much!

@@BadHikers We will for sure take you up on that when the day comes!!!
I’m so jealous! Love to watch and hear your comments
Thank you!!
I'm doing this hike this weekend! You think it would be easy to find a spot to hang a hammock at the campground?
Soo sorry we missed this before we headed out the start the JMT!! But to answer, yes, forsure some epic hammock spots!
By not doing the vertical stretch you guys reeeeealy missed it.
Edit, my lady friend here reminded me in 2021 I'm not supposed to list all those spots here, bad etiquette she says, oh well, i listed half a dozen of my secret LA spots here earlier, pm if you want to know them, Cheers love your videos.

Did you need a permit or anything to camp here?
Nope, no permit needed, and there's no parking fee! (But the road down to the trail head is a liiiittle dicey.) All camping is on a first come, first serve basis. :)
@@BadHikers Awesome, thanks!
Best Jeff Probst voice: 2 days! 2 creepy old buildings! 64 stream crossings! 1 wrong turn! 2 survivors!
Oh man, we need to hire a voice actor to read this over the top of the episode!! 🤣🤣
@@BadHikers been really enjoying your stuff guys! I think you really nail the “show don’t tell” keep up the work!
@@AdamHoyt Thanks so much!! We are learning as we go and having so much fun doing it!!
Actually not fake, legitimately settled by the Danish in the 1800s.

Fair!
