Maybe, but probably not. Unless you're trying to do something that lets you access your home network from the wider internet (home server, port forwarding, etc), your devices probably won't even notice the nested networks. Be careful if you use a VPN, especially for work, though... VPNs can act weird if they see a network architecture they don't expect
Yes, but it's probably overkill. I don't think these are poe enabled either... you'd need a separate breakout. Likely not worth while unless you're trying to mesh through a concrete wall or something
you keep saying router and modem interchangably but i have a modem and a seperate router. so when i plug my deco in, i should plug this in to my router, right? not my modem?
Modem(Coax cable goes into this) is the Internet coming from the ISP. The Router is what handles the Wifi connections/Etc. Just make sure your modem isn't a Modem/Router combo.
I have an AT&T modem/router combination unit. I’m no networking expert but I think you have to disable all the radios on the unit, therefore it’ll function only as a modem. Then you connect the Deco to the modem via Ethernet so the Deco will take over all router functions. I believe I ran the Deco in router mode (as opposed to AP mode).
I wish that the instructional videos would not take the time to show us the unboxing process, I think most of us know how to unbox. It is boring and does not add any value to the instructional video
We agree, and it is why we do unboxing in less than 10 seconds. Gives us more time to talk about the pros and cons of the product and any special features we like.
Do we also need a modem ? Cant we connect the ethernet post from the provider directly into the mesh ?
Which one to select? I have the 5400 and it’s not on the list. Not helpful

What happens if you DON’T sign up for their subscription…are all the features (device ID, blocking, etc) non-existent?
If I have a 2in1 router/modem from my existing ISP, do I have to setup the Deco nodes in Access Point mode?

Hi Great video thank
Do both devices have to be plugged into the modem or can just one be plugged it for both to transmit WiFi?
Just one
It's not secure without buying the home shield?
It’s unlikely your going to be attacked
will my wifi mesh be more reliable if i connect the other 2 routers with 150 foot poe cables?

So should we set this up in bridge mode or not?
I would first try not and see how it works.
Hope works better than orbi always off line
it does
I just replaced my Orbi with the Deco 5400.
That’s exactly why I got a Deco, My Orbi (RBR20) was going offline at least once daily and up to three times some days, necessitating a power cycle.
Thanks
Why are we scrolling Ken Burns-style over a screenshot?
why not?
Sorry- this video could have just said- read the quick install guide and follow app instructions. There. 10 seconds.
It’s useful because I need something that I can have upstairs as my modem is downstairs this let me know that the 2 cylinders are wirelessly connected
This was useless. You skipped; over the LAN port that isn't labeled. Cool.

The unboxing helped because I could see if each unit had Ethernet ports.
is this still working fine? stable and reliable? wondering as a potential buyer.
Yes
Useless video. Which device is the 5400 listed under???
